This Weekend’s Scripture First Reading: Malachi 3:19-20a The prophet Malachi warned that the time would come when all the evil people would be punished. He then speaks of the arrival of "the sun of justice, with its heal-ing rays," believed by most to mean Jesus. Second Reading: 2 Thessalonians 3:7-12 Some of the Thessalonians claimed Christ's return was imminent, so they stopped working and asked others for food. Paul describes his willingness to work, so that he would not impose on others. He encourages them to follow his example and earn their own living. Gospel: Luke 21:5-19 Jesus warns of the persecution all Christians will face because of him, and how some will even be put to death. Yet he says they will not be harmed because "by patient endurance you will save your lives." If Je-sus' followers are loyal, they will be resurrected and their suffering will end.
A Stewardship Thought . . .
“…Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you, so that you might imitate us.” (2 Thessalonians 3:9)
Most people who live a grateful and generous life-style don’t go around bragging about it. But through their actions and words, others do take notice. They notice because of the joy and peace that results and other people desire this in their own life. Know that the way you live your life may be the only interaction others have with our Catholic faith.

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Go to the poor, you will see God. - St. Vincent de Paul
Thank you to all who donated to the Thanksgiving Side Dish Grocery Bag endeavor. On Thanksgiving Day know that a family was helped because of you. Be thankful that you were able to help. Don’t be afraid to mention this at your Thanksgiving dinner along with the turkey jokes. Our Lord said; “As you have done for the least of my brethren, you have done unto me.” This is the basis for all we do at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. We invite you to share in our mission. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance please contact us through the parish office. (732) 257-0077 If you receive a frozen turkey that you won’t be using this Thanksgiving, please consider donating it to us. We’ll make sure it gets to someone who’ll appreciate it. Call the parish office to arrange a pickup or drop-off. We gratefully accept non-perishable food items for our food pantry. We especially need canned fruit, tuna, corn, rice, and canned ravioli. Thanks for your kind-ness.
