®LG Sonic MPC-BuoyMonitor Predict Control
Creating a sound barrier
Ultrasound from the right frequency creates a
sound barrier in the top layer of the water,
reflecting on objects with a different density than
water. This affects the buoyancy of many types of
algae and prevents algae from floating up to the
surface, thus dying by lack of light.
Collapse of gas vesicles
Blue-green algae are capable of travelling through
the water column vertically due to their possession
of gas vesicles. ®The ultrasound from the LG Sonic ruptures these
vesicles, preventing the algae from rising to the
surface and absorbing light for their photosynthesis.
Different effects of ultrasound pressure on algae:
Controls cyanobacteria safely with ultrasound
Does not release toxins and is safe for plants, fish and insects
One MPC-Buoy covers a surface area of 500 meters diameter
Multiple Buoys can be installed for larger areas
Monitors the water quality parameters in-situ
Uses specific programs based on the algae present
Easy installation & maintenance
Reduces TSS and BOD

Solution overview
MPC-Buoy
®How does LG SONIC technology work?®The LG Sonic technology uses specific ultrasonic waves to target
different algae types. To achieve an optimum result, different
frequencies, amplitudes, waveforms and signal durations are required
for each type of algae. This is determined by different characteristics like
the size of a cell, the water quality the cellular composition and the
morphology of the algae species.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What maintenance is required with the MPC-Buoy technology?A: The sensors and ultrasonic transmitters on the MPC are all equipped with wipers to keep them clean. This
keeps the efficiency and specificity of the MPC optimal and makes frequent maintenance to the system unnecessary.
The sensor have to be sent back to LG Sound once a year for maintenance and calibration.
Q: I want to install an MPC-Buoy but I don't have access to a crane or a big boat at my lake, can I still install the Buoy?
A: Yes, the MPC-Buoy is a modular unit that is easy to assemble and install. The Buoy can be assembled at the shore of the lake and easily pushed into the water. Because it is light, just a small boat will be enough to drag it to the center of the lake.
Q: Can I install the MPC-View software on my own server instead of LG Sound’s server?A: Yes. The MPC-View software can be installed on any Windows server you choose. We do advise to
provide LG Sound access to the server in order to change the ultrasonic programs, based on the water quality.
Q: I have blue-green algae in my lake, won't the installation of LG Sonic release the toxins from the cells and create a problem?
A: Whenever blue-green algae are blooming, toxins can always be present in the lake, even when the water is not treated. The LG Sonic itself does not rupture the cells, neither does it cause cell lysis. ®
Instead, the concentration of algae in the water will slowly decrease along with the concentration of toxins in your water and the bad smell. Thus, no drastic increase in toxin concentrations will occur after installing the MPC-Buoy.
Q: I have a lake that is bigger than 500 meters in diameter, can I still use the MPC-Buoy technology?A: Yes, each MPC-Buoy has a range of 500 meters. When the lake is larger than this, a combination of
Buoy's can be used. Because water quality monitoring is not necessary every 500 meters, it is possible to install multiple MPC-Buoy models without monitoring package. This way, the MPC-Buoy provides a cost effective solution for algae control, even for large lakes.
Q: What is the difference between MPC-Buoy and the MPC-GRID 24VDC?A: The MPC technology is available in different versions:
1. MPC-Buoy: This version has 2 solar panels, a range of 500 meter and a Buoy to install it in the middle of the lake.
2. MPC-Grid: This is a smaller version of the Buoy because it doesn't include the solar panels and batteries. The power is supplied via a 24VDC cable to the float. This unit can have a variable amount of transmitters and strengths to fit any type of pond.
Ask LG Sound to prepare you a customized quote for your pond.
Q: Do you provide water quality monitoring without the ultrasonic devices?A: Yes, We can help you with any water quality sensors for your application.
Q: Can I also have the MPC-Buoy without the water quality monitoring?A: Yes, this is called the LG Sonic 360 Solar. It contains the Buoy system, ®
solar power system and 3 LG Sonic e-XXL transmitters
Q: Can the MPC-Buoy provide power all year round in any country?A: Yes, the Buoy is equipped with 3 solar panels of 200 Wp and the batteries provide 3 to 5 days autonomy.
This makes MPC-Buoy perfectly capable to provide power all year long anywhere around the world.
Q: What is included with the MPC-Buoy?A: All mentioned parts in the Technical specifications are included in the MPC-Buoy. Because the mooring
depends on the type of lake, water depth and climate, this needs to be arranged locally.
LG Sound has developed the LG Sonic technology to control algae, cyanobacteria and biofilm safely. Our
objective has always been to reduce or eliminate harmful chemicals in our environment. Therefore we have
developed a technology that controls algae without disturbing the natural balance within water ecosystems.

Applications
Natural & Recreational Lakes
Ultrasound is completely harmless for humans,
animals, plants and zooplankton. Therefore, the
MPC-Buoy is the best solution for lakes where
harmful chemicals or radical solutions that disrupt
the ecosystem are not an option.
Drinking water reservoirs and dams
When cyanobacteria grow in a water reservoir that is used
to provide drinking water, the algae can cause taste and
odor problems to the water. Blue-green algae produce
geosmins, giving the water an “earthy“ taste.
The presence of organic material in the water results in THM
formation, when the water is treated with chemicals.
The MPC-Buoy controls the growth of new algae and
prevents the algae from floating up to the surface and
absorbing light. This means algal biomass will decrease
after installation of the MPC, along with related toxins and
geosmins.
Because less algae enter the water treatment plant, less
THM’s are formed when adding chemicals.
