Chandos Lake Bass FishingPart III of the Bancroft Bass Tournament Series

Story and photos by Jim O’Shea.

On Sunday, August 9th, the third in a series of Bancroft Bass Tournaments was held on Chandos Lake. Twenty-seven teams entered the catch and release tournament, with seven teams catching the maximum weigh-in total of up to five small mouth or large mouth bass. It was a tough Chandos Lake day for the nine teams who did not appear at the tournament weigh-in, as their catch was either too small or no fish were caught.

The tournament sponsors were Tucker’s Marine, Lund Boats, Paudash Lake Anchorage Resort, Masstec Weighing Systems, and Shakedown Sound and Lighting. Every tournament provides 100% payback to each lake community, with the August 9th funds going to the Bancroft and Apsley Food Banks.

Editor’s Note: The Bancroft Bass Tournament Series is held on five area lakes between June and September. For more information, please see the tournament website at: www.bbtseries.ca

Below: The Chandos Lake tournament winners were George Lycouras and George Liapis who had a total catch weight of 13.86 pounds. This team also netted the largest bass at 7.18 pounds. Who says there ain’t no fish in that lake?
