1. What are some words, from the information and your own knowledge, to describe grief and loss? Sadness, tears, hurts, depressed, not going to see them again, change, part missing, etc
2. We react differently to loss, what are some common reactions that we know of?Blame someone/yourself, anger, sadness, “what if’s”, try to keep going, be strong, etc
3. There are five steps that can help all people through the process of, mourning with death, what are they?a. Accept the reality of the deathb. Experience the realityc. Don’t shut out your emotionsd. Express your feelings to someone you truste. Adjust to life without the deceased
4. Name some symptoms of pain that you may feel after a loss; Heart palpitations, Sick and dizzy, Tightness in the throat, upset tummy, fatigue (tired)
5. Why is anger related to grief? How does that work? thinking it should have been you, blame, “Why”, angry that you didn’t do more to tell them how much they meant to you etc. You feel bad that you still have life.
6. Why do we feel guilty when someone passes away? Survivor guilt, things we may or not have said, it should have been you etc
7. What are some steps to adjust to life without the deceased: Resolve anger and guilt, Accept the feelings like anxiety and despair, everyday may be hard, letting go of the person who has died, Develop new relationships to take their place
8. What helps to letting go and how does it help us to heal? Keep the memories, gradually feel better about things, feelings are normal and they should be let out
9. Where can we get help? Counsellors, Teachers, Family members, friends, self talk, people who have experienced the same loss
10. Why is it normal to react in different ways? Different people/ Different situations that occur, how much support is available/accepted/explored etc
