Name of the action
NEW OPPORTUNITIES
Background of the action
This program has been designed from the experience of some social entities under the concept of “Second Chance Schools”. The aim is to combat early school leaving, by reducing school dropout and re engage them in education, improving their ‐employability. Some keys: Flexible, personalized and longer educational itineraries. Personalised guidance. Alternate between training and work, and methodologies “learning by doing”
Aims Improve the employability of young people at risk of social and employment exclusion through different and innovative methodologies.
Action Place 8 points around Catalonia, each one must attend 270 youngsters. In Barcelona the program is called “Passwork” and it’s carry out by 2 social entitites.
Technical and financial Partnerships
All funding provides from the Regional Government, but technically the 8 stakeholders can collaborate with other entities in order to offer to youngsters a wider range of trainings.
Target young people
Students between 16 and 24 years old, mostly without neither Secondary Compulsory Degree, nor work experience, and also exposed to social vulnerability.
Descriptions of the action
1. Between 2 and 6 weeks personal and vocational Guidance and exploration in order to define the own itinerary.
2. Up to 20 months. Training in basic and soft skills (working habits, learning capacity, teamwork, emotions management....) and Pre-vocational trainings. Traineeship in/or real work experience as employees, according the definition of their itineraries.
3. Accompaniement and support all over the itinerary . The main strenght of this program is the possibility of search different trainings from the youngsters requirements. With this, we get that the youngsters can choose really their way, not fit them in a solution already ready previously
