Principal’s Report
If your child has come home complaining about an incident with another
student, I ask you to please communicate your concerns to the school as
soon as is practicable. The school has two student welfare teachers that
are here to sort out these difficulties when they occur. Under no
circumstances are parents to approach children in regard to the
complaint. Parents/Adults who approach other children in the school yard
are at risk of being given a trespass order banning them from being on the
school grounds or police intervention.
School Toilets
To ensure the safety of all our children, adults are not to use or enter the
children’s toilets under any circumstances. If you need to use toilet
facilities I ask that you use the public toilets across the road in the
shopping centre. The boys and girls toilets are not designed for use by
adults. I thank you for your cooperation here.
Parent-Teacher Information Exchanges
Parent-Teacher Information Exchanges have been on Tuesday and again
tonight. This gives parents and teachers the opportunity to get to know
each other and share information about the students. In addition to these
meetings if you feel you need to speak to your child’s teacher at any time
please call the school to make an appointment.
New Flagged Crossing Over the summer holidays Brimbank Council have installed a children’s
crossing on the south side of Shepperd way. Currently this crossing is not
manned by a crossing supervisor, however when the crossing is flagged
all the same road rules apply.
I ask everyone to follow the road rules pertaining to flagged children’s
crossing, 40kmh speed limits and parking regulations around the school
Children are especially vulnerable around vehicles and roads due to their
size and capabilities.
When walking with your children make sure you are using the school
or pedestrian crossings rather than taking potentially unsafe shortcuts.
Talk with your children about the importance of stopping and looking
both ways before you cross any road.
Always demonstrate responsible and safe behaviours when driving, as a
passenger or while walking anywhere around vehicles and roads.
The school is in regular communication with Brimbank Council about
making pedestrian crossings around the school safer for all users.
Hopefully it won’t be long before Brimbank Council agrees to provide a
crossing supervisor for the new crossing.

Helping Hand Mission Once again this year, one of our community minded students, Natalia, is working to collect
funds for the Helping Hand Mission. This charity works to assist families in need in the
western suburbs of Melbourne by providing food and other necessities. Collection tins will be
placed in classrooms on a rotating basis throughout the term, and children are asked to place
any small change they may have into the tin. There will also be a collection tin at the front
reception desk for parents and friends to contribute, and one in the staffroom for school staff.
Thank you for your support of Natalia’s initiative.
CONGRATULATIONS
We would like to congratulate Mr Matthew Tomkins and his wife Breannan on
their marriage which took place in January and wish
them a very happy future together.
We would also like to congratulate Mrs Rhiannon McLay
on the arrival of her son Oscar born in January.

EMERGENCY SNACKS AND
LUNCHES FROM THE CANTEEN
In the second half of last year there were many students having
emergency snacks or lunches from the canteen.
These emergency meals are for students who genuinely forget to order
or bring their snack or lunch from home. Students, in this case will be
provided with an emergency snack or lunch of either a vegemite or jam
sandwich from the canteen.
An account will then be sent home to parents requesting payment of
50 cents for the snack or $1 for the lunch provided which is to be
paid back to the canteen the next day.
For students that receive these emergency meals and have spending
money for the canteen, their spending money will be used as payment
for the outstanding amount.
Thank you.
Second Hand Uniforms If you have any uniform items that your children have grown out of,
please consider donating them to the second-hand uniform shop.

Items can be handed in at the office.
All proceeds from the uniform shop are donated to State School Relief.
