Disastrous!!!
In multi-phase frequency modulated topologies,
period, duty and phase must all be updated at a
single point. Update delay between channels can be
disastrous. Multiple registers in different PWM
modules can now be configured to update on the
same trigger.
Global & One Shot Reload
In multi-phase applications which use a fixed phase,
frequency updates must be synchronised across
PWM modules. A single register write can now be
applied simultaneously across multiple modules.

Valley Switching
• Soft-switching technique that improves system efficiency and performance
• Switch should be turned ON when current through it is zero, at the valley of the voltage across it
Challenges
• Resonant oscillations are highly dependent on circuit parasitics and on operating conditions – making it difficult to detect optimum valley point
TI Confidential – NDA Restrictions
Valley Switching Enhancements
• A hardware mechanism to precisely control PWM ON/OFF time instants to implement valley switching
• Captures time period of oscillations to accurately delay PWM switching instant
• Ability to add software programmable offset to captured delay
• Programmable number of edges before the delay takes effect
• Multiple choices of triggers and events
• Allows easy adaptability for optimum performance under changing system/operating conditions

Software Frequency Response Analyzer
35
The Software Frequency Response Analyzer (SFRA) can measure the frequency response of the
control loop without disrupting normal operation.
The presence of the injected frequency is detected at various points in the loop and its magnitude
and phase measured as the frequency is swept between specified limits. Plots of gain and phase
vs. frequency can then be constructed from the collected data.
