an inner emptiness that testifies that the search has been in vain.

• Everything has been predetermined by God and man cannot change it. Therefore, enjoy the present moment and accept it as a gift from God. None of the activities of life can fill up the capacity and desire. (Also Ch 6:1-9)

A Christian conclusion: The book can also be seen as a description of what life is like apart from God and thus is a preparation for the fullness of God’s revelation in Jesus.

The Song of Songs

• Describes the relationship between God and his people in terms of human love,
