Hollard is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth and investing in our leaders is strategic
imperative to respond to this growth and build a highly engaged workforce. In 2013 we began
developing a comprehensive leadership program to build a strong and engaged talent pipeline.
During this session, I will share with you our journey to building an award winning 3 Pillar Leadership
Program which has developed our leaders both personally and professionally, as Hollard grew and the
demands on our Leaders increased. And not only has our Leadership program resulted in a strong

everyone involved. We will share the process, tools and outcomes as we take you on a journey through
culture mapping and change in a for-purpose organisation. You will hear what was gained, including a
common language around culture, and how the experience generated a new appreciation of the
strengths that already existed and could be leveraged for positive culture change.

Tying people up in knots with laws, rules and
policies is a measure of success these days.
Politicians are measured on how many new
‘bills’ they introduce into Parliament. So too,
organisations are measured on whether they
have policies aplenty. What if, we reversed the
phenomenon? What if, we unshackled people
from a one-sized, fits all approach to
performance, development, recruitment?
Threw out the policies that dumb people
down and instead, created an environment
that stimulated innovation and creative
thinking? Let’s start a movement!!

Learn from the results of three years of user-centric
research into the learning habits of managers in
mid-to-large sized organisations.
This talk reveals the results from three years of
user-centric research into the learning habits of
managers in mid-to-large sized organisations.
What do managers actually do to handle
unfamiliar challenges at work? Do they use
internal or external resources more often? What
role do the internet and social media play, and
what impact does digital learning and learning
management systems have? How can learning
leaders apply these learning’s to better support
their organisations?

PRESENTER:
Karen Pennie, National Organistional
Development Manager, The Reject Shop
Where do you begin when you have a landscape
of opportunity and leadership support to deliver
significant organisational development change?
We will share our 3 year journey in shifting from:
paper to digital; manager lead to self-driven
learning and isolated to continuous programs
of workplace learning. We delivered this via a
distinct 3-year strategy, the creation of a learning
brand, and prioritising and growing our
investment in developing our teams. The
outcomes include increases in internal
promotions; team member engagement and
capability and decreases in team turnover and
onboarding costs.

ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
STRATEGY WITH A FOCUS ON DIGITAL
12:20 – 12:50 TRAILBLAZER SESSION
PRESENTER:
Andrew Miedler, Director, People & Leadership,
Blanchard APAC
Many organisations are changing their performance
processes because they don’t provide what team
members want. Blanchard research in 2016 found
67% of team members surveyed wanted performance
feedback conversations often, yet only 29% stated
they received them. Performance appraisals are
typically focused on the past and recent research
findings highlight a negative perception of the
experience. What if we could have performance
conversations which reduce feelings of blame and
judgement? What if we could have performance
conversations based on the future with improving
performance and development as the key focus. In
a world with less time than ever, we will share how
managers can deliver future focused performance
conversations in less than 2 minutes! We will share
how our clients have implemented these
performance conversations skills and the
improvements to their culture.

Join Katharine to dialogue on how UTS will lead the way in lifelong learning, creating a
University-Corporate-Government integrated approach to the radical transformation that is
happening to the Australian economy as we enter the Imagination Age. Continuous learning for
the adult as they navigate the new economy is no longer optional across multiple disciplines. This
revolution impacts the thousands of adults transitioning out of the old industries of Australia as
well as those employees who will need to come to grips with robotics, artificial intelligence,
blockchain, cybersecurity and a radically different set of ways to organise work and talent.

Capability Manager, Volkswagen Group Australia
Volkswagen (VW) decided to produce a virtual-
reality (VR) training experience within a
representative ‘Dealership and Service Centre’ that

employees. The experience would enable the
learner to explore the environment, and interact
with ‘hot spots’ within the environments to
discover further information, participate in customer
service scenarios and engage with knowledge via
animation, knowledge content, windows of
process maps, etc. Join Luka as he takes you on

PRESENTER:
Ginger Nocom, Group Head of Change
Management, Ruralco Holdings Limited
We live and operate in an environment where
change is constant. And in order to stay ahead,
to stay competitive, and to stay relevant, we
need to continuously evolve as individuals and
as organisations. However, there will come a
point where individuals, teams and organisation
will reach a breaking point as a result of too
much change. Change saturation typically occurs
when change disruption is greater than change
capacity. Change saturation is real and it is a
threat and a risk to overall organisational
performance. In this talk, we explore how to
combat and mitigate change saturation by
creating a culture that fosters change agility and
change resilience.

PRESENTER:
Kerryn Fewster, Founder & Director, AdaptiQ Minds
In a world that is constantly evolving, it is not always
the strongest or biggest organisations that survive-
but those which can most easily adapt and have the
right people to move forward in uncertain times. Our
research shows that a greater acceptance of ambiguity
and willingness to adapt to uncertainty is critical to
enhancing an organisation’s success. Kerryn will share
the substantial generational differences in attitudes
towards ambiguity and uncover ‘the why’ of
generational differences in ambiguity so you can
choose the best team for your organisations future.
