Don’t rush it. Body-builders don’t train in a day – neither does a child.
And most important ofall, HAVE FUN!
Read the book WITH your child. You read the “regular” text, and he/she reads the big, red words, sort of like reading the different parts in a play.
Help your child sound out the words as needed.
Read the book several times. This helps develop the eye muscles and left-to-right reading patterns.

Here’s a way toremember the
letter ‘g’
(Read this page TO your child.)
The letters ‘b’ and ‘d’ have arms that reach up above their “bodies”
But the letter ‘g’ has a FOOT under its “body”
38
![Page 39: Beginner_Book_2_2015.pdf](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022051821/5695d1711a28ab9b02968ba8/html5/thumbnails/39.jpg)
A foot is always at the end of a leg,not the middle or the top:
legSo it helps to remember that the letterwith the little “foot” (the letter ‘g’) is always at the end of the word, ‘leg.’
39
![Page 40: Beginner_Book_2_2015.pdf](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022051821/5695d1711a28ab9b02968ba8/html5/thumbnails/40.jpg)
Hold your left hand flat to make the letter ‘l’ – Point your right
thumb down to make the letter ‘g’ –
Curl your thumbto make the little “foot.”
