The director uses a opening extreme close-up shot of the main characterseyes. This gives the feel to the audience of uncanny as it is something that is
familiar becoming unfamiliar. This shot is also known as a eye line match
which also creates enigma. Shallow focus is used to emphasise the focus on
the eye which causes the opening shot to be disorientated and creates a
feeling of being uncomfortable as her fear is evoked through this.
A monologue of the protagonist whispering as she explains part of the
storyline. The fact that she has lost her memory. This is used to introduce the
character and he narrative to the.

A fragmented flashback
event, taking us back to
when she lost her memory.
A non-diegetic crescendothen plays which is
reflective of the flashback.
This creates an eary feel
making the audience feel
uncomfortable. Overall this
combined effect highlights
the significance of theseevents taking part in the
flashback but also reflects
on the state in which her
memory is in.

It then repeats the opening shot of the close-
up of the eye whilst there is non diegetic
sound of the dialogue Im scared once again
creating a sense of mystery as we have no
idea why she is scared and who is she with.
Once again expressing uncanny.

Another track is used , In order to indicate to theaudience that it is a change within setting (spatial time).
A gentle low angle pan is used to create a sense of
confusion. the duration of the shot is extremely quick
suggests a rapid decline in the character memory, she
doesnt know where she is. a sound bridge is usedintroducing the next character of ben before he is
presented visually .

A sound bridge is once again used of the telephone this was used in
order to see her reaction. This creates enigma and mystery as it
makes the call seem ominous. Therefore the sense of the unknown is
strengthened. A sound bridge is then again used which is asincrance
to the actions, the minute the phone is answered it cuts to an exterior
shot of ben leaving the house which conveys that it is being hidden
from him. Lastly a sound bridge is again used of doctor nashsvoice .
At this point we dont get to see him adding to the enigma created by
the director.

A multiple amount of static still
images is used, accompaniedby doctor nashs clear
explanation , as he explains
how they have been doing tests
on her memory . This also helpsthe audience understand what's
happening within the storyline
without giving too much away.

a fade to black is then used in order to indicate to the
audience a change in location and to denote a shift in
time this is called narrative lacunae (which means a jup
in time). This overall helps the audience to relate tochristen as we are now also experiencing random jumps
in time.
As well as this the plot begins to thicken through the use
of the music. As it injects a feeling of a fast pace and tisis also expressed through the Ariel shot that is used
showing that things have moved on ; that it is a new day

Character three is
then introduced
visually (doctor
nash) therefore the
dialoge now
matches the action A fragmented and speeded up versionof what happened to Christine
expressed through multiple shots within30 seconds this A fade to black and
crescendo is then used
after Dr Nash says the words No one
by you. This helps to emphasise the
large amounts of pressure that is being
put on Christine to be able to rememberwhat happened. It also represents
themes such as isolation as she must
feel so alone and helpless in trying to
recall her memory. At this point the
music escendo to emphasise the
mysery of the thriller.

The complication is introduced , as Christine begins to askquestions like why are you hiding things ?,how can I trust you ? Theinteractions between the dialogue is getting a lot faster.
Character 4 from a memory of a picture is shown, this adds anotherlayer to the mystery as it makes the audience wonder who is thiswomen ? How is she relevant to the storyline and Christine? Aswell as this why she had to stay way from Christine at the time sheneeded her the most? This leaves the audience wanting to find out
the answers to all these questions.

dont trust no one indicates another shift within the narrative
Immediate danger is expressed through the music as it is in
minor which creates a sense of unease within the audience as
it sounds off keyFollowed by another critical accolade :
Sticarto music of a distorted sound making the scenes seem
disjointed. There is a base beat that is repeated in a pattern. And makes t seem like there is desperation within the
narrative as time is running out, building the tension and
suspense this is then followed by a fade to black.

im your husband in the finally section the trailer places
the audience in the same place as the amnesiac. There
is overlapping sounds of dialogue from characters such
as Dr Nash and Ben, this makes us as well as Christinewonder who we can actually trust. It almost allows us to
see into the mind of an amnesiac and how chaotic and
confusing it truly must be. We sympathize with the
character of Christine
