At South Street Primary School we grow people who:
Are creative, curious and independent learners. Are resilient and problem solve when faced with challenges.
Respect and care about themselves, each other and the world in which we live.
EXCELLENT GROWTH RESULTS
Last week we shared some outstanding growth Naplan results in relation to our Year 5 students and
their growth over the 2 years.
This week I would like to celebrate the achievements of our Year 3 students.
Our Reading results are equal to our best over the last 5 years.
Our Reading results are our best results for the past 5 years.
Our Writing results are the best results for the past 3 years.
This is a credit to all our teaching staff and a great reflection on the work the teachers do in our Founda-
tion – 2 classrooms.
Last year, Moe had a public holiday for Moe Cup Day. This year this will not be a public holiday.
We will be having Melbourne Cup day as Public Holiday, this is Tuesday 5th November.
We will also be having a school closure day on Monday 4th November.
This means that there will be no school for students on Monday 4th November and
Tuesday 5th November.
It is hard to believe that we are nearly at the end of term 3.
We have 2 weeks remaining before the September holidays.
The last day of term 3 is 20th September. School will finish at
1:15 on this day.
Our next school council
meeting is Tuesday 17th at
7:00pm.

Last Tuesday we had a group of students representing South Street at the Latrobe Valley Division Athletics Carnival. All students gave
it their all against some very good opposition. Congratulations to Nathan (High Jump & Discus) and Lexie (Discus) who

Lexie and Nathan next month at the Region Aths!
Last Friday 10 students were chosen to represent South Street Primary at the inaugural Lowanna College Sports Excellence Program
Gala Sports day. The students participated in a variety of sports specific tabloid activities like footy goal kicking, vortex throwing,
hockey shooting, basketball shooting and many other activities which were scored at the end of each activity. After the skills tabloid
had finished we found ourselves on top of the leader board taking a narrow lead over St. Mary’s PS and St. Kieran’s PS. After the
lunch break we played off against the other 7 schools in a modified European Handball round robin. We won our first 4 matches and
then lost our final 3 matches although the students never gave up all day. Overall we finished in 4th place for the day. I was very im-
pressed with the way that the students brought each other into the game rather than relying on the same kids to score all the time.
Our sportsmanship was once again highlighted by staff from other schools, so well done to all of the students for representing our
school and displaying our values.
