“Barbara’s Bits of Tips”
Olive Oil Olive oil does not get better with age—it’s best to use it as close to the production date as possible. Store in a dark place that isn’t too airy to preserve it as long as pos-sible.
Vegetable Oil Vegetable oil has a higher smoking point than olive oil, which means that it’s better for cooking foods on high heat, like pan-
seared fish and fried chicken.

“No Rest for The Dead”
Twenty-Six Writers—One Mystery
When Christopher Thomas, a ruthless curator at San Francisco’s McFall Art Museum, is murdered and his decaying body is found inside an iron maiden in a Berlin museum, his wife, Rosemary, is the primary suspect, and she is tried, convicted, and executed. Ten years later, Jon Nunn, the detective who cracked the case, is convinced that the wrong person was put to death. In the years since the case was closed, he’s discovered a web of deceit and be-trayal surrounding the Thomas family that could implicate any number of people in the crime. With the help of the dead woman’s friend, he plans to gather everyone who was there the night Christopher died and finally uncover the truth, suspect by suspect. Solving this case may be Nunn’s last chance for redemption...but the shadowy forces behind Chris-topher’s death will stop at nothing to silence the past forever.
In this innovative storytelling approach, each of these twenty –six bestselling writers brings their distinctive voice to a
chapter of the narrative, building the tension to a shocking explosive finale.
“No Rest for the
Dead” is the
kind of thrilling
page-turner that
only today’s very
best authors
could achieve.

Emergency Management Agency
has a new
Emergency/Weather Alert Notification System
We will be registering all of our members on this new notification system. The contact number listed on your Senior Info sheet will be the main number
that this system will call in the case of any Weather or Emergency situations. This system can reach you on any cell phone, home phone and even email. Once you are reached, you will be prompted to verify the contact.
We will also be utilizing this contact system to inform our members of any important information from the Irondale Senior Activity Center. If you do not receive a test notice by the end of the month, then your contact number is either not listed with the center, or the information is incorrect. Please contact us as soon as possible so that we can rectify the problem.

“Inside and Out” - Pixar
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no excepon for Riley, who is uprooted from her
Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by
her emoons - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emoons live in Headquarters, the
control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley
and her emoons struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquar-
ters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emoon, tries to keep things posive, the
emoons conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school. -- (Animated)

Serving George and Mary Knight It is amazing what a brief email to our wonderful Senior Community can do. A simple request for assis-tance in building a handi-capped ramp for George and Mary resulted in all money and labor needed being provided within 30 minutes. Although it is im-possible to personally men-tion the many generous hearts that contributed to this service project, I must show our appreciation to the following: Zeila Bailey and Marty Murdock for organizing the help from Church of the Highlands, the generous financial donors, John at 84 Lumber for providing the needed materials at cost and all those who braved the Saturday scorching heat from 8:00 to 3:30.
