    Gov. Chris Christie said Monday he was op-posed to Syrian refugees entering the UnitedStates even orphans under the age of 5 but hedid not join the list of more than 20 other gover-nors who announced that they were taking actionsto prevent the refugees from settling in theirstates.

    In a radio interview with conservative com-mentator Hugh Hewitt, Christie said he opposedhaving the refugees come to the U.S., saying when asked by Hewitt that the ban would ex-tend to orphans under the age of 5, since they hadno family to care for them.

    HOWELL - Township police trying to subdue an ine-

    briated Belmar man at a summer music festival endedup breaking the mans neck and choking him to death, alawsuit claims.

    The 20-page wrongful-death complaint by relativesof 38-year-old Timothy J. Harden claims security offi-cers and possibly staff at the Sept. 5 Souper Groove mu-sic festival used excessive and unreasonable physicalforce when they restrained Harden, who experienced a

    medical episode after consuming alcohol and co-caine.

    TRENTON - A proposal to allow immigrants who

    arent legally in the country to drive legally on NewJerseys roads took a first step forward Monday,though Gov. Chris Christie quickly made clear hewont let it become law.

    The Assembly Homeland Security and State Pre-paredness Committee voted on party lines to advancelegislation, A4425, which would establish drivers li-

    censes for people who cant prove theyre in the coun-try legally. The licenses would look slightly differentfrom regular licenses, cost up to $50 more and bemarked in such a way that they couldnt be used for
