Overview• Students will watch all segments about
different cultures, and follow each of them with a group discussion.
• Students will draw pictures individually showing how they celebrate in their home.
• Students will choose a culture based on the segments to learn in depth over one week.

(A) identify personal attributes common to all people such as physical characteristics; and
(B) identify differences among

(C) describe customs of the local community.

(A) connect experiences and ideas with those of others through speaking and listening (K-3); and
(B) compare language and oral traditions (family stories) that reflect customs, regions and cultures (K-3).
(13) Reading/culture. The The student reads or listens to increase knowledge of his/her own culture, the culture of others, and the common elements of cultures. The students is expected to:
(A) connect his/her own experiences with the life experiences, language, customs, and cultures of others (K-3);and
(B) compare experiences of characters across cultures (K-3). Art, Kindergarten
(3) Historical/cultural heritage. The student demonstrates an understanding of art history and culture as records of human achievement. The student is expected to:
(A) identify simple subjects expressed in artworks;
(B) share ideas about personal artworks and the works of others, demonstrating respect for differing opinions; and
(C) relate art to everyday life.
