FlywheelArmature Gap
The gap allows the magnets in the flywheel to generate electricity
and transfer it to through the armature to
the ignition coil
The Gapping Procedure
First: Refer to the manual to identify the gap specs
The Gapping Procedure
Next: Find the appropriate gapping gauge
The Gapping Procedure
Next: Insert the gauge into the armature gap and adjust if
necessary
Why is the Armature Gap so important?
It transfers an electric charge from the from the flywheel magnets to the ignition system and ultimately to the spark plug
Why is the Armature Gap so important?
The narrower the gap, the better the spark.
Too Narrow of a Gap:
Could result SKID MARKS on the rim of the flywheel and wearing of components
Too Wide of a Gap:
Also results in wear and tear of the armature
