3 in 1 Tornado ShelterTornado Shelter - Aftermath Room - Office / Guest Room
After living in South Florida for almost 7 years, I’veexperienced 3 major hurricanes and I had to evacuate my home. Since then I’ve been thinking in the thousand of people who loose their homes, every year, due to major nature disasters like tornados andhurricanes and in my free time I am developing, withmy wife, a shelter that can accommodate up to 6 people. It is a pre-fabric concrete cubiculum that can be buriedin a back yard or it can be placed above ground in bigyards or farms.
I’ve been inspired by 3 things: a) The necessity of protection when the tornado strikes, b) A place to stayfor a few days after the tornado strikes without thenecessity to find a hotel or live in public shelters orstadiums, c) a space that can be used as an office or guest house on a daily basis. I came with an idea of building a pre-cast concrete module but with some elements that improve whatare selling in the market. It can be easily customized, addressing the necessities of the client.I’ve been inspired by small cubiculum like train suitesor vessels suites where the spaces have been maximizedto be used daily and nightly.
