About TinyEYE
TinyEYE Therapy Services provides Speech-Language Pathology via Telepractice. With a growing demand
and tight supply of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), many school districts face challenges in
providing necessary speech therapy services.
TinyEYE's vision is to be a leader in providing the solution for connecting children with quality speech
therapy services. Significant resources have been invested into creating an ideal speech therapy
telepractice solution. Going beyond simply video conferencing, TinyEYE has created an interactive
atmosphere where progress, reporting, and activity functions are built into the software.
Co-founded by a Speech-Language Pathologist who spent a large part of her day driving to and from
schools and completing paperwork, TinyEYE was developed to increase the therapist’s direct one-to-one
time with students. She now spends a large part of her day providing one to one therapy with children.
She spends no time driving, and her documentation is generated by the software program. Finally,
there is time for every student to have a regular and productive therapy session.
How Does it Work?
Our SLPs will connect to your students by logging into TinyEYE.com with their secure login. The student
at the school (with the help of Teacher’s Aide) will do the same. The SLP will have the lesson plan for
the day prepared before the session and will pull up appropriate activities for the session.
The SLP will then assign homework and may send video messages for later viewing in TinyEYE’s Virtual
Backpack. The child can login at home or at school and do the assigned homework with a caregiver.
Progress notes and reports are generated during and after each session so the Special Education team,
teacher, and parents have access to the child’s progress, goals, and related strategies.

Living, a language activity where children interact with items in the home. It is one of over 60 games that
TinyEYE has built so far.
“The fact there is improvement after online therapy is
something really worth noting. I was skeptical at first, but
am glad TinyEYE has been involved with my students.”

“For 100,000 or so speech language pathologists in
North America, whose job is to treat speech,
language and swallowing disorders, this feeling is a
widespread and well documented problem that
inhibits access to therapy and contributes to
professional burnout.
Saskatoon-based, TinyEYE Technologies
Corporation, decided to do something about it. The
computer software company was founded by Greg
Sutton, inspired by the plight of his sister, a Speech
Language Pathologist in Guelph, Ontario…… “

“A tiny Canadian company, TinyEYE is doing
something right now to address a problem that
plagues many a youngster, speech impediments.
My own younger brother suffered from this as a
child and had a couple years of tutoring to
overcome his speech impediment. Luckily, my
parents could readily afford a tutor and we always
lived in relatively dense, suburban communities so
it was not that hard for my brother to meet with a
speech pathologist once a week.
But what about those children who live in rural
communities? Well, that is where TinyEYE comes
in.
The founder, Marnee Brick, is a speech pathologist
and was struggling to visit all her clients spending
more time in the car, than with a patient. Three
years ago, she brought the topic up with her
brother, Greg Sutton, who suggested using the
Internet to deliver services and TinyEYE was born.
The two built out a telehealth solution that would
allow a speech pathologist to deliver services via
the web, using simple, speech-centric computer-
games coupled with an web camera that allows
the speech pathologist to work with the child
online and remotely to observe in real-time a
child’s pronunciation and make corrections. Really,
pretty slick little solution that addresses a real
market need and gives one some idea as to how
telehealth can be applied to some seemingly
mundane, but important problems…..”

Telepractice Regulations
Telepractice is approved by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA),
the national professional body for Speech-Language Pathology.
“Telepractice is the application of telecommunications technology to deliver professional
services at a distance by linking clinician to client, or clinician to clinician for assessment,
intervention, and/or consultation. It is the position of the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association (ASHA) that telepractice (telehealth) is an appropriate model of service delivery for
the profession of speech-language pathology. Telepractice may be used to overcome barriers of
access to services caused by distance, unavailability of specialists and/or subspecialists, and
impaired mobility. Telepractice offers the potential to extend clinical services to remote, rural,
and underserved populations, and to culturally and linguistically diverse populations.”

For more information on telepractice from ASHA visit:
http://search.asha.org/query.html?qt=telepractice
Telepractice is also approved by the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists
and Audiologists (CASLPA), the Canadian national professional body for Speech-Language
Pathology.
“The Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA) endorses the use
of telepractice in both speech-language pathology and audiology as a means of improving access to
services provided by fully qualified professionals. CASLPA members who provide services via telepractice
are expected to adhere to the CASLPA Code of Ethics (2005) and privacy legislation and abide by
guidelines established by the regulatory body of the province in which they reside. Members may provide
services via telepractice if they determine that it is in the best interests of their clients. Members shall
base telepractice on best evidence and encourage ongoing research in this field.”
