Anti-encroachment drives against Plastic Pollution campaign was
conducted to aware the general public, shopkeepers & vendors “Say no
to Plastic” and “No encroachment beyond the shutter line”.
In continuation to anti-encroachment drives and Jammu against Plastic Pollution
campaign started under the instructions of Hon’ble Mayor,JMC, Sh. Chander Mohan
Gupta and Commissioner, JMC, Sh. Pankaj Magotra, a comprehensive joint drive was
conducted to aware the general public, shopkeepers & vendors “Say no to Plastic” and
“No encroachment beyond the shutter line” by the District Administration, Jammu
Municipal Corporation and police. The drive was conducted under the joint supervision
of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Sh. Rishpal Singh, S.P. South, Sh. Vinay
Sharma, Secretary, JMC, Smt. Sunaina Sharma. Health Officer, Dr. Saleem Khan,
Municipal Veterinary Officer, JMC, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Chief Enforcement Officer, JMC, Sh.
Rajesh Gupta, Revenue Officers, JMC, Sh. Ashwani Sudan and Sh. Sunil Gupta and
S.H.O of Bahu Fort area, Enforcement wing and Sanitation Wing of JMC also
accompanied the drive. The drive was conducted in the various areas of Jammu City
started from Bahu Fort. At Bahu Fort area Additional District Magistrate, S.P. South and
Secretary JMC instructed the shopkeepers to replace polythene with cloth bags. The
shopkeepers were also instructed to keep their goods within their shutter line to avoid
further penalties. The mobile vendors were also instructed to make their rehries on the
pattern of Gandhi Nagar rehri Zone. Shopkeepers and vendors were also instructed to
put dustbins in front of their shops and rehries to keep their premises neat and clean.
President of Bahu Fort, Sh. Ankush Khajuria assured the authorities that Bahu Fort
area will be free from polythene and encroachments made by the shopkeepers beyond
their shutter line will be removed. Team of JMC then toured Maheshpura area and
remove encroachment from the area and also seized banned polythene from the
shopkeepers and also made aware the general public and shopkeepers to use cloth bags
instead of polythene. Thereafter the team toured B.C. road area and removed

encroachments made by the shopkeepers beyond their shutter line. The team seized two
trucks loads of counters, rehries and other goods displayed on footpaths and beyond the
shutter line. JMC regularly conducts such drives creating awareness among the
shopkeepers, street vendors and encroachers through announcements by using
loudspeakers to follow the rules in order to avoid penal action against them. The
shopkeepers were also give strict warning for not displaying their goods by illegally
extending parameters of their shops. The shopkeepers, vendors were also instructed not
to use polythene and use only cloth bags. The general public was also appealed to use
cloth bags instead of polythene to make our environment neat & clean.

JAMMU MUNICIPAL CORPORATION DEMOLISHES THE
UNAUTHORIZED CONSTRUCTIONS.
On the directions of Sh. Pankaj Magotra (KAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal
Corporation, JMC while further continuing and intensifying the drive against the
unauthorized constructions, the Enforcement Staff led by the Chief Enforcement Officer
under overall supervision of Joint Commissioner (A), Jammu Municipal Corporation
have demolished ongoing illegal construction work raised by Puneet Mahajan S/o Vijay
Mahajan at Lane No. 1, Karan Nagar Jammu.
The said construction had been raised unauthorizedly and in violation of the
building plan. The Jammu Municipal Corporation initiated the action under the
provisions of J&K Control of Building Operation Act 1998.
Further, the Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the General Public to refrain
from making illegal constructions and get building plans whether commercial / residential
approved from Jammu Municipal Corporation, otherwise action as admissible under rules
leading to demolition / sealing of the building will be taken against the violators.

JAMMU MUNICIPAL CORPORATION SEALS SHOPS
Further continuing and intensifying the drive against the unauthorized
constructions and on the directions of Mr. Pankaj Magotra (KAS), Commissioner Jammu
Municipal Corporation, the Enforcement Staff under overall supervision of Sh. Ashish
Gupta (KAS), Joint Commissioner (A) sealed two no. of Shops which were being raised
by Mr. Suneesh Gupta S/o Late Sh. M.L. Gupta at 325-A, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and
Darshana Devi W/o Chajju Ram at 38-A, Extension Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The above said constructions have been converted from residential to commercial.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation initiated the action under the provisions of J&K
Control of Building Operation Act 1998.
Further, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the General
Public to refrain from making illegal constructions and get building plans whether
commercial / residential approved from Jammu Municipal Corporation otherwise action as
admissible under rules leading to demolition / sealing of the building will be taken against
the violators.

Further, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the General

Drive/campaign regarding “Jammu Against Plastic Pollution”
In continuation to the ongoing drive/campaign regarding “Jammu Against Plastic
Pollution” Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor JMC flagged off the Plastic Waste
Collection vehicles from Jammu Municipal Corporation Town Hall for collecting plastic
waste from different schools in presence of Adv. Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, JMC,
Sh. Suraj Parkash Padha, Chairman, Swachh Bharat Standing Committee, Sh. Jeet
Angral, Chairman, Social Justice Committee, Sh. Pankaj Magotra (KAS), Commissioner,
JMC, Sh. Ashish Kumar Gupta (KAS) Joint Commissioner (A). Health Officer, Dr.
Saleem Khan, Municipal Veterinary Officer, JMC Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Spl. Asstt. to
Commissioner, Sh. Rakesh Gupta, Revenue Officers Sh. Ashwani Suddan & Sh. Sunil
Gupta, Transport Officers Sh. Prem Kumar & Sanjeev Sharma, I/c Sanitation officers
Sh. Sanjay Gandotra & Ravinder Nath, Master Jorawar Singh deputed from Education
Department for creating awareness in all the Schools also accompanied the collection
drive.
The three teams were constituted for the collection of Single Use Plastic waste from
different Schools which collected four truck loads of Plastic waste collected by the
students in coordination with their School Management. The Schools from where the
Single Use Plastic waste was collected are Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Mubarakh Mandi,
Shri Ranbir Hr. Sec. School Parade, Guru HarKrishan Public School Nanak Nagar, Dogra
Hr. Sec. School Shastri Ngaar, Modern School Nanak Nagar, My First School Nanak
Nagar, Popular Model High School Nanak Nagar, Cooperative Public High School, Trikuta
Nagar, Govt. Higher Sec. School Paloura, Rana Hr. Sec. School Paloura, Nand Public Hr.
Sec. School lower Roop Nagar, Evergreen Hr. Sec. School, lower Roop Nagar and Aroma
Foundation Public School, lower Roop Nagar.The children accorded warm welcome to the
team members and actively participated in collecting plastic waste from their homes and
school.

JMC collected 1400 kg of Single Use Plastic from 22 Schools within limits of JMC
and also seized 65 kg of Polythene carry bags from different markets of Jammu City. The
collected material was handed over to National Highway Authorities of India at
Pounichak which shall be used for constructing roads.
For collecion of plastic waste material from different schools, the collection
partners namely Indian Pollution Control Board Association, M/s Shivam Polymers, M/s
Shree Swastik Plastic Industries Pvt. Ltd., M/s Flexo Industries, M/s Shivam Plastic
House provided the vehicle and also extended their full support to the JMC for this
noble cause.
All the schools falling in Zone-A in Ward Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12,
13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 40 and 71 are advised to contact with Sh.
