• Property (propiedad) - artículos que tienen valor que son la propiedad o están bajo el control de un negocio. Son los recursos económicos de un negocio.
• Property rights (derechos patrimoniales) - las reclamaciones financieras de los acreedores y el dueño, sobre el activo del negocio.
• Financial claim (reclamaciones financieras) - derechos legales sobre un artículo.
• Credit (crédito) - un contrato en que el comprador puede pagar más tarde.

• Creditor (acreedor) - una persona o un negocio que tiene derecho sobre los bienes y se le debe dinero.
• Asset (activo) - propiedades o bienes que pertenecen a un negocio.
• Investments (inversiones) - los bienes que son propiedad de una empresa, pero que no se usan en la operación del negocio.
• Equity (patrimonio neto) - el total de las reclamaciones financieras sobre los bienes o propiedades de una empresa.
• Owner’s Equity (patrimonio del dueño) - las reclamaciones del dueño sobre el activo de empresa.

• Liability (pasivo) - cantidades que se deben a los acreedores.
• Business transaction (transacción comercial) = una actividad comercial, tal como la compra, la venta o el intercambio de bienes que genera un cambio en el activo, el pasivo o el patrimonio de una empresa.
• Account (cuenta) - se utiliza para resumir los aumentos o las disminuciones de activos, pasivos y patrimonio.
• Account Receivable (cuentas por cobrar) - la cantidad de dinero que te deben como persona o empresa.
• Accounting equation (ecuación contable - provee la base para mantener en balance todos los libros contables.

• Account Payable (cuentas por pagar) - dinero que se debe a una persona o acreedor.
• On account (a crédito) - cuando una persona o empresa adquiere bienes y los puede pagar en un tiempo indefinido.
• Revenue (ingresos) - la cantidad de dinero que se recibe de la venta de bienes y servicios.
• Expenses (gastos) - el costo de los bienes y servicios que se usan para la operación de una empresa.
• Withdrawal (retirada) - el dueño retira efectivo u otro activo para su uso personal.
