We are blessed as a parish to have a wonderful group of boys and
girls who volunteer as altar servers for our Masses. These young
people serve with reverence and dedication as they assist Fr. Keith
and our deacons. On Saturday 18 June we will be holding a training
for new altar servers at 2:00PM in McElroy Hall. If you have a son or
daughter who would be interested in becoming an altar server and is
fourth grade or older please sign them up for next weekend’s train-
ing by contacting Lisa Wrzesinski at [email protected] . Many of
our altar servers continue to serve for years as they progress through

Fr. Keith’s Korner Fr. Keith’s Korner Fr. Keith’s Korner Fr. Keith’s Korner We will celebrate the sacrament of the
Anointing of the Sick at all weekend Masses on 18/19 June. It is a genuine act of caring to be able to pray with and for those in our community who are struggling with their health in some way. Please assist those who may need help in getting to Mass for the celebration of this sacrament that weekend. Part of our parish Pentecost liturgical tradition is the offering of Pentecost Spirit Renewal Forms at the offertory time. I am so heartened that 124 of our parish households took the time to complete the form they received at home, and brought it to church with them that weekend. Seventeen of our electronic givers returned the EFT form, which resulted in an increase in regular offertory giving. This indicates a wonderful sense of commitment to the mission of our parish, and the value that faith development has for many of you, and I am deeply grateful for this response. Our faith formation programs for next fall are currently accepting registration forms, and an increase in the registration offering will occur after 19 June. If you do not have one already at home, please pick up a registration form at the Information Center and help us to get organized by returning your form as soon as possible. It takes some effort to recruit and train catechists, and so we appreciate your cooperation! Remember that faith formation is a life-long endeavor, and our programs are open to all ages. Because our older servers keep graduating from high school and going off to college, recruiting new altar servers is a continual task. If you will be in fifth grade or older this fall, please consider serving your parish and participating in the new altar server training that will take place next Saturday. You can register following the information in this bulletin. Registration for our Vacation Bible School (which starts on 27 June) is due by next Sunday. Please use the form which is included in the bulletin this week.
Fr. Keith
Membership Information is available on the second Sunday of each month at 10:15 AM in the Media Center at our Prospective Parishioner Orientation Session. Please attend if you wish to register as a parishioner.
Bulletin Notices must be submitted electronically to [email protected] ten days before you want your announcement to appear in the bulletin.

Thanks for your cooperation in helping us organize for the next academic year!
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will take place at all Masses the weekend of 18/19 June. Grief Support Group: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” God promises never to leave us alone in our losses. Those who are grieving the death of someone dear to them are invited to participate in a support group that will meet at 11:00 AM on Monday 20 June. If you are interested in participating or need further information, please call the Parish Office.

Saint Vincent de Paul: As we hear in the Gospel today, we realize that sometimes we are like Simon, as it's far easier to see what is wrong in another than it is to see what is wrong in ourselves. But Jesus, who accepts the poor woman without judging or blaming her, shows us what Christian love is all about. Through your almsgiving you are performing a good work; far greater than you think. Your donations placed in the Poor Box bring Christ's love and compassion to the poor. If you, a family member, or a friend are in need of emergency financial assistance, do not hesitate to call the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (301-662-4676).
The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal has been a success. Thanks to all who have made a pledge or gift, we have reached $61,904 (104%) of our parish goal of $59,700. Relics of St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher will be on display during and after Mass for veneration. Attention: All Parish Volunteers! Through the leadership of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, our parish has made revisions to the Child and Youth Protection Policy which guides employees and volunteers in creating a safe environment for all members of our parish community, especially our children and youth. This policy applies to all employees, adult volunteers (18 and
over), and youth volunteers (14–17), whether or not
they have substantial contact with children. Please note that all adult volunteers (18 and older) are requested to create a personal account at www.shieldthevulnerable.org, our compliance management system. Adults and youth (14–17) should visit our website, www.saintdrexel.org, and click on Giving Selflessly, and then Becoming a Volunteer, for more information or stop by the Information Center and pick up a flier. Thanks for your assistance in helping our parish ensure a safe environment for all its members.
Haiti Update
Haiti Sister Parish Update: This month we are wiring funds to Fr. Faubert and St. Hubert Parish to cover the
expense of the parish health clinic that was held to distribute the medical supplies our parish collected and brought to Haiti in February. We are also providing funding for
the training program for three more lay ministers for the outlying missions of his far-flung parish which will take place in July.
Another Haiti Opportunity: Serge Bellanton is a parishioner of St. Timothy parish, but he grew up in Haiti and his parents still live there. The public education system in Haiti is poor to non-existent, and so he is presently raising funds to build and start a high school there. Fr. Keith, Alyce Luck, and Alexis Zabsonre visited the construction site when they visited Haiti in February (as well as Serge's family home). It is a very ambitious goal for one person! Serge will have a table in the Gathering Space next weekend to provide information and offer raffle tickets on a 50" TV to help fund construction. Tickets are one for $5 or six for $25.
Retreat Opportunity A weekend of Healing and Hope with Immaculee Ilibagiza and Kathleen McCarthy is scheduled 24–26 June at Mt. St. Mary's University, Emmitsburg. Immaculee is a Rwandan genocide survivor, author, and Catholic witness for the power of forgiveness and mercy and Kathleen is a Catholic Radio broadcaster, author, and lay evangelist for the power of God's healing and merciful love. Immaculee will lead the retreat Friday through Saturday at 12:30 PM and Kathleen will lead the retreat on Saturday at 2:00 PM until 12:00 PM Sunday. There will be opportunities for confession, a healing service, Mass, overnight adoration, music, and prayer. To register visit www.aliveinthespirit.net or email Kathy Reid at [email protected].
Used Clothing for Adults and Children (that is washed and in decent condition) can be dropped in the hampers located in the hallway near the restrooms
during any weekend Masses. Donations are transported weekly by our parish volunteers to the Rescue Mission. Now that spring is finally here and you discover that you and your children have outgrown the
warm weather clothing and footwear you put away last fall, please remember that those less fortunate than you would greatly appreciate these items.
A COMMUNAL CELEBRATION
OF
THE SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK
will take place during all Saint Katharine Drexel Masses
on Saturday 18 June and Sunday 19 June 2016
The Catholic Church professes and teaches that the anointing of the sick is one of the seven sacraments of the New Testament instituted by Christ and that it is alluded to in Mark (6:13) and recommended and promulgated to the faithful by James the Apostle and brother of the Lord. He says: “Is there anyone sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the Church and let them pray over him and anoint him in the name of the Lord. This prayer, made in faith, will save the sick man. The Lord will restore his health, and if he has committed any sins, they will be forgiven” (James 5:14-15).
Who is eligible? Those who are seriously ill; handicapped; suffering from an
illness (high blood pressure, diabetes, alcoholism, depression, etc.); anticipating surgery, or experiencing the effects of aging.
Our faith community welcomes those who are seriously ill to be prayerfully surrounded with love and compassion as they experience the Sacramental presence of Christ through the laying on of hands and anointing with oil of the sick blessed
by Archbishop Lori during Holy Week.
Parish nurses will be available at each Mass for emergency assistance.
