EXTENT OF SCALP
1. ANTERIORLY : Supraorbital Margins
2. POSTERIORLY : External Occipital Protuberance and Superior Nuchal Lines
3. ON EACH SIDE : Superior Temporal Lines

STRUCTURE
• Conventionally, Superficial Temporal Region is studied with the Scalp.
• Scalp is made up of FIVE Layers:1. Skin2. Superficial Fascia3. Epicranial Aponeurosis4. Loose Areolar Tissue5. Pericranium

ARTERIAL SUPPLY OF SCALP
• In front of Auricle, the scalp is supplied by :
Supratrochlear Supraorbital Superficial Temporal Arteries• Behind the Auricle, the scalp is
supplied from before backwards by the :
Posterior Auricular Occipital Arteries
Branch of Opthalmic Artery Branch of
ICA
Branch of ECA

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
• Anterior part drains into Pre-Auricular or Parotid Lymph Nodes, situated on the surface of Parotid Gland.
• Posterior part drains into Posterior Auricular or Mastoid and Occipital Lymph Nodes.

NERVE SUPPLY
• The Scalp and Temple are supplied by TEN nerves on each side.• IN FRONT OF AURICLE : Sensory Nerves -1. Supratrochlear2. Supraorbital3. Zygomaticotemporal4. Auriculotemporal Motor Nerve –1. Temporal Branch of Facial Nerve BEHIND THE AURICLE : Sensory Nerves –1. Posterior Division of Great Auricular Nerve2. Lesser Occipital Nerve3. Greater Occipital Nerve 4. Third Occipital Nerve Motor Nerve –1. Posterior Auricular Branch of Facial Nerve
