• Napoleon Bonaparte: (1769-1821) Emperor of the French. Responsible for many French Revolution reforms as well as conquering most of Europe.
• Scorched Earth: a military strategy which involves destroying anything that might be useful to the enemy while advancing through or withdrawing from an area.
• Congress of Vienna: (1814-1815) Major European powers met in Vienna, Austria to establish a plan of peace and discuss the re-alignment of territorial borders after the defeat of Napoleon.
