St. John Journey
MARCH 2020
A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR SCOTT
In my article for this month I would like to bring everyone up to date on several things that are
going to be happening in the next couple of months. We are currently starting a search for a
new organist however this can be a very difficult task in that the organist pool is not full of
people. In the interim we have Wrenda Fuller who will be doing both the job of directing the
choir and playing the organ. In April, John Taff the pianist for the 8:45 AM Service will have
extensive surgery on his ankle and will be away for about 10 weeks. After much discussion
with Wrenda and the choirs, we have decided and Council approved at the February meeting
to go to one worship service beginning on Palm Sunday, April 5. The time for this one service
will be 10:00 AM. There will be more liturgy than the 8:45 AM and less liturgy for the 11:00
AM, but as we come together the hope is that our worship quality will improve as we only
have one worship service to plan and rehearse. The plan is that when we get an organist and
when John Taff is able to play again, we will reevaluate at that time.
The Council in February also voted for the congregation to be able to use Credit Cards to pay
their pledge or make a donation to the church. There are a couple of ways that you can ac-
complish giving in this way. There will be a button on the Website that takes you to a site
where you can enter your information and make a one time or continuing donation to St. John.
There is also a form that you can fill out that allows your donation to come regularly from
your Credit Card. This is currently not active but we will be notifying the congregation when
it becomes active.
As we move through this season of Lent, don’t forget the Wednesday noon services and the
evening Soup and Worship Services at Christ the King Catholic this year. The Rev. Daniel
Hess will be installed at Ebenezer Lutheran on Sunday, March 8 at 2:00 PM, all are invited.
The Rev. Sarah Hess will be installed at Redeemer Lutheran on March 22 at 3:00 PM, all are
invited.
Peace,
Pastor Scott
