Probability and Odds
An event that can never occur has a probability of 0.
An event that will definitely occur has a probability of 1.
All other probabilities are numbers between 0 and 1.
Definition of Odds
Odds are another way to show how likely an event is to be a success.
Probability has success: total (both success and failure)
Odds has success: failure (you would add them together to show the total number of events)
Probability Distribution (the total of all entries is 1)
A probability distribution for a particular random variable is a function that maps the sample space to the probabilities of the outcomes in the sample space.
A distribution where all of the probabilities are the same is called a uniform distribution.
Notice that all probability distributions add up to 1.
This is a frequency distribution of an experimental sample space that we can use to make a probability distribution.
