From the first ultrasound...to the first smiles....to the first steps... An infant’s life is an amazing
time of growth and development! This program is facilitated by a Parent Educator who will
help participants explore various topics through the sharing of experiences, hands-on
activities, guest speakers & more. Topics covered will be based on the interest of the
group and may include: early literacy, growth & development, attachment and play.
There are always lots of opportunities to share, ask questions and connect, all while having

Early Childhood Requirements:
Children attending Discover & Learn, must be in the process of being potty-trained,
and must wear a pull-up style diaper (unless fully trained), due to sanitation concerns.
Our staff will still encourage children to use the washroom. If you require any tips and
strategies to accelerate the toilet training milestone, our family support team will be
happy to assist you.
Children 3 and over, who are registering for any other un-parented program, must be
toilet- trained.
Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in our parented programs prior to
registering their child for an un-parented program.
*DISCOVER & LEARN* (Ages 2.5 to 5) During Discover and Learn, children will be engaged in planned activities along with free
play using our learn-through-play philosophy. Children will explore science, literacy,

TAMING YOUR WORRY DRAGONS (Grades 4 to 6) Using a booklet as a guide, children will learn about anxieties/worries and formulate strate-
gies to tame those worries. Through a variety of activities participants will create their tool
box of strategies. Children will also learn to shift from negative to positive self-talk helping
to feel more confident in themselves and practice their detective work to help keep track
of successes. Parents, please be aware that this program is an entry level program for chil-
dren learning about anxiety.

WORRY TOO MUCH (Grades 1 to 3) This program will help guide children in techniques used to help ease the feeling of anxie-
ty. Worry Too Much will teach your child a more successful way to think about and man-
age anxiety through the use of how-to steps, drawing, writing, and hands on activities that
are aimed towards reducing anxiety. Through discussions this program will help children
think positively and create different ways to cope with anxiety. Parents, please be aware
that this program is an entry level program for children learning about anxiety.

Accessing the Parent Coach can be as easy as making a phone call, meeting face-to-face
or connecting through social media. This program is open to all families.

Do you have parenting questions or concerns? Are you looking for some practical
strategies to help you with everyday parenting issues? Then Just for Parents is just for you!!!
This weekly program provides an opportunity for parents and caregivers to connect and
share their thoughts and feelings regarding parenting in a safe and supportive setting.
Each week, we will lead the group through discussions on a variety of parenting topics.

TRIPLE P Join us for group sessions of the Positive Parenting Program, targeted for parents and care-
givers of children aged 4 - 12 years old. The aim of Triple P is to increase parental confi-
dence and have the ability to deal with many parenting challenges. Triple P is a toolbox
of solutions where parents choose the strategy that best fits their family. This unique group
will run for 4 weeks of in-class sessions. Follow up telephone consultations with our Parent
Coach are available as well.

Early Learning Centre.
Parents and children under two years attend parenting

Children 2 years & over remain in the Early Learning Centre
and have an opportunity to develop the skills required to
successfully play away from parents.
Parents rejoin their children and enjoy a small snack and
circle time together.

RAISING YOUR SPIRITED CHILD Do you have a child that is just a little more intense, more sensitive more persistent and uncomfort-
able with change? Are you running out of strategies for parenting this child? This course will give
you an opportunity to connect and share with other parents of spirited children as well as to learn
new techniques and strategies for meeting this parenting challenge, while maintaining a loving
bond with your child, and keeping your own sanity!

ANXIETY IN CHILDREN Anxiety is not uncommon with children. If you are concerned, there are many practical strategies
and tools that a parent can use to help their child manage anxiety. Learn how to recognize if
your child is feeling anxious, and how to talk about it with them. As part of the strategies, children
will learn to recognize their strengths and successes. Our facilitator will guide parent discussions in
how to best support their children.

Registration Information
Registration is taken on a first come, first serve basis.
Payment must be made in full upon registration.
Participants must meet the program requirements to register.
Registration for programs can be made during our regular office hours, by:

*Drop-in, with Cash, Cheques, Visa or Mastercard.
Early Childhood program requirements *including toilet training policies*
The following requirements are in place for health and safety reasons:
Children 3 and over, who are registering for an un-parented program, must be potty- trained.
Children attending Discover & Learn, must be in the process of being potty-trained, and must wear a pull-up or diaper, due to sanitation concerns. Our staff will still encourage children to use the washroom. If you require any tips and strategies to accelerate the toilet training milestone, our family support team will be happy to assist you.
Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in our parented programs prior to registering their child for an un-parented program.
Cancellation Policy**
You must notify us a minimum of five working days prior to our program start date to receive a partial refund.
An administration fee will be deducted from all refunds.
No refunds will be issued less than five working days prior to the course start date.
Cancellation of our weekly, members’ only, registered program, Discover & Learn, must be made by noon, the previous working day. *Refunds are not available for this program; however, your child will be moved to another available course date.
*Please be advised: we cannot ‘hold’ a credit; credit must be moved to an actual date within the same program calendar year.

St. Albert FRC reserves the right to combine, postpone or cancel classes due to insufficient registration. Course cancellations may occur due to reasons beyond our control. Full refunds will be issued for courses cancelled due to insufficient registration.

Home Visitation The Home Visitation program is a long-term
family education and support program
serving families throughout pregnancy until
their child enters kindergarten. It is availa-
ble to families who reside in St. Albert and
require information on parenting and child
development. This is a free program to
those who need it.

through every stage of development. Newborn, toddler, tween or teen, we
have a program unique to every family and their needs.
Our Family Support programs include:
Health for Two
Are you pregnant and need support? Health
for Two offers prenatal education and
community resources to women during their
pregnancy and following the birth of their
baby. This program is designed for women
who may face social or economic risks to a
health pregnancy. These risks include one or
more of the following :
The Health for Two program is delivered one-
on-one by a Family Educator. We provide
free bus tickets, milk coupons, prenatal vita-
mins and more .
We believe every woman deserves a safe ,
stress free and happy pregnancy .
Developmental Screens
Would you like to know how your child is
developing? Are they meeting their
developmental milestones? Our staff are
trained in using Ages & Stages and
Nipissing child development screens.
The questionnaire is family friendly and
you will receive immediate feedback.
Our staff will be happy to provide you
with strategies and activities to try at
home with your child. Referrals can also
be made to other early childhood
programs that will continue to enhance
your child’s development.
