WOOD INDUSTRIES WINS “CHOICE” AWARD. Wood Industries has won the prestigious 2016 National Hard-ware Show Hardware Retailing’s “Choice” award for outstanding and innovative products for its Eagle Silent Series Compressor line for professional contractors. The panel that awarded the Choice award reported that the Wood Industries product “is unique and has the potential to be a home improvement industry best seller!”

In May 2016 Wood Industries also received the Presi-dential Award for Exports from Secretary of Com-merce Penny Pritzker at a ceremony in Washington, D. C. The award is the highest recognition any company can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of USA exports.

Wood Industries corporate headquarters, manufactur-ing facility, and retail/wholesale center are in Belmont-Golden, Mississippi, USA.

BMSI ANNOUNCES A PLANT LOCATION IN TISHOMINGO COUNTY. BMSI has announced the company will locate in Burnsville, Missis-sippi, USA, and create 100 jobs.

The company will manufacture precision metal fabricated parts for the US Department of Defense and commercial restaurant equip-ment. BMSI will also provide plant support to other industries in maintenance, welding and fabrication, and process piping.

The company will locate in the Yellow Creek Port Spec Building in Burnsville and expand the building.

BMSI will employ pipe fitters, pipe welders, millwrights, structural fabricators, and other technicians. Hiring may begin during the third quarter of 2016.

BMSI (Byrd Maintenance Services, Inc.) corporate headquarters are in Decatur, Alabama, USA.

Congratulations to Yellow Creek Port for landing this fine company and we thank BMSI for selecting Tishomingo County for their manu-facturing location.

VANLEIGH RV EXPANDS. In response to overwhelming market de-mand, Vanleigh RV has expanded into an 70,000 SF industrial build-ing in Burnsville to manufacture components for high quality fifth wheel campers. The company began production in mid-2015 and employs 130 in 122,000 SF of manufacturing space in Burnsville and at Tri-State Commerce Park.

We thank Vanleigh RV for selecting Tishomingo County for their lat-est expansion.

Everyone benefits directly or indirectly from economic de-velopment, including the school system that receives significant new tax revenue from economic development projects.

TISHOMINGO COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT RATE. The Mississippi Department of Employment Security report for April 2016 reveals an unemployment rate of 4.5% for Tishomingo County. This is the second lowest unemployment rate for the county since such statis-tics have been tracked.

HAGO AUTOMOTIVE START OF OPERATIONS. Governor Bryant, Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Glenn Mc-Cullough and other state and local officials joined hago Automotive owners and management in celebrating the start of manufacturing operations on June 16, 2016.

“Today is a great day for Northeast Mississippi and the state’s thriv-ing automotive industry as hago Automotive officially opens for business, generating so many new jobs for the area’s workforce,” Governor Bryant said. “The skilled workers and strong business cli-mate found in Tishomingo County and all throughout the state will help ensure hago’s long-term growth and success in Iuka for years to come.”

In Iuka, hago Automotive performs automated stamping with up to 400 tons of processing power, transfer stamping with up to 630 tons of pressing power, several laser-welding applications, parts washing and cleaning, parts processing and the production of assemblies. The facility also houses a tool-making department and a test labora-tory. The company is investing US$10 million and creating 80 jobs.

REPEAT BOUTIQUE & ART BY REGINA KENNEDY. A ribbon cutting was held on June 8 for Repeat Boutique and Art by Regina Kennedy.

Owner Regina Kennedy reported that “Repeat Bou-tique carries a tremendous line of consignment mer-chandise, everything from name brand like new men, women, and children’s clothing, medical scrubs, house-hold items, shoes, jewelry, handmade items, and lots of other items. We enable families to afford the best for very little money and we also help families in need.”

Regina Kennedy reported that she also “does water, acrylic, pastel, pencil, charcoal, and oil painting and pottery in her home. I paint portraits of people, land-scapes, buildings, and others. Paintings convey an im-age that photography cannot match.”
