The Stride Center wishes to thank all our supporters, staff, students, and friends for helping us to empower the community by providing relevant workforce training that will help individuals become financially self-sufficient. We have open enrollment throughout the year. In this document you will find information that about enrollment, and the courses we offer to qualified students. We hope that the information will provide clear reasons why your continued support is necessary and very much appreciated by the entire Stride Family. Our course offerings is challenging and demanding for our students. We here at Stride push our students for success through hard work and excellent performance. We have an outstanding enrollment staff ready to assess student-candidates and provide the requisite case management necessary to facilitate entry into our program. After admittance we provide seasoned instructors to guide the students through the challenging and rewarding training required to become an IT professional. Also during and after training we have an excellent employment services department that work one-on one with the newly minted certified graduate to provide job coaching, job counseling and job placement. Finally we make sure our graduates stay in the Stride network by providing leadership guidance through our Stride Alumni Leadership Council. From all of us here at The Stride Center we want to thank you for your support and partnership as we all work together to build communities one graduate at a time.

Clinton Rice
Clinton RIce, a resident of Richmond California started taking classes at the stride center in July 2014. He was 27 years of age. Although he had completed high school, he had no college training and was working at a job making $12.78 per hour. Clinton wanted more for his life and decided to put his best efforts into the Stride Center’s program. Utilizing all of the resources available at the Stride Center and not allowing anything to stop him, Clinton embarked on his new career.
Clinton like many young men, had many personal challenges to overcome while attending the Stride Center. But allowing himself to completely embrace and use the skills he learned at the Stride Center, Clinton was able to push through the program. In addition to taking courses at Stride Clinton was offered a paid internship at Reliatech, Stride’s social venture, where computers are refurbished and distributed back into the community at low cost. This internship allowed him to get much of the hands-on experience he needed to launch his career.
The social, professional and technical skills he gained at Stride allowed him to land a position as a Network Technician with the County of Alameda. He earns $20.00 per hour and works full time. He is also now considering continuing his education by enrolling in the IT program at a local college. Clinton is CompTiA A+ certified, CompTiA Network+ certified, CompTiA Security+ certified and also has obtained through The Stride Center his Cisco Certified Network Associate in Routing and Switching (CCNA).

ADMISSION INFORMATION
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS To qualify for The Stride Center workforce development program an applicant must: • Be 18 years of age or older. • Be a resident of California. • Provide proof of age, residence, and income. • Provide proof of previous education (GED, HS Diploma or college transcripts with graduation date). • Attend a program orientation (Call 510-234-1300 ext.105 to make an appointment). • Candidates will be assessed in the following areas:
• Reading level (8th grade minimum)
• Language skills
• Math • Candidate must submit a 250 word essay describing the level of commitment to the program. • Fill out an application at www.stridecenter.org or in person at a branch location • If applicable, any previously earned industry certifications will be reviewed for eligibility to advance courses.

This course is designed to give students practical, employable, coding skills to help prepare them for entry-level position in the growing field of web application development. The curriculum includes fundamental learning in HTML5, CSS, Ruby, Rails, SQL, PHP, and other web development technologies. The course will include lecture, class discussion, labs and projects, guest speakers and portfolio building.
