Download - 2012 Holiday Parade of Homes
WelcomeOn behalf of the 850+ members of the Home Builders
Association of Greater Columbia, we welcome you to the 2012 Holiday Parade of Homes! We appreciate your investment of time in coming to this event and hope that you are pleased with what you are about to see.
We are extremely happy to have the 26th Annual Parade of Homes at Olde Park in Forest Acres.
Four outstanding Builder Members of our Association have been working diligently to bring you their finest work for this event. There are many innovative ideas and fabulous amenities they have employed in each house. You’ll also see many fine architectural and technological features in each home that are cutting-edge in the industry.
While you are looking at these homes and after you leave the Parade, we encourage you to use this Plan Book as a resource. Detailed information on each house, builder and interior designer, is included in these pages. As you tour these homes, keep in mind that a new home is still the best investment you can make. When you do make the decision to buy or build a new home, we think you’ll find it to your advantage to do business with members of the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia.
The 2012 Holiday Parade of Homes will be open to the public December 1st-9th from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily. Discount tickets may be purchased at your local Bi-Lo.
Once again, welcome to the 2012 Holiday Parade of Homes. Your attendance is greatly appreciated!

People’s Choice AwardsEach year, visitors to the PARADE OF HOMES have the opportunity to recognize the house that they feel
stands out from the rest. Inside the cover of this Plan Book is a ballot where you cast your vote for the “Best Home” and “Best Interior”.
So, as you tour the PARADE OF HOMES at Olde Park in Forest Acres, take special notice of the features and amenities of each home. Consider the floor plans and which ones are most livable. Be sure to observe the décor and think about which ones you like best. Mark your ballot and drop it in a special box as you exit.
You will notice as you make your way through the homes that some have already received “Critic’s Choice” Awards. The categories of “Critic’s Choice” Awards are: Best Exterior Design, Best Floor Plan, Best Bath, Best Kitchen, Best Master Bedroom, Best Outdoor Living Center, Best Interior Design, Best Children’s Room, Best Media Room and Best Overall.

Meet the Interior Designers
Christy Monteith, founder
and owner of CL Interiors,
presents her portfolio of
design ideas and expertise
in this year’s Parade of Homes
entry for Executive Construction.
Christy has an Interior Design
Degree from Winthrop University.
Christy has repeatedly been
recognized for excellence in her over
twenty-five year career. Through
her talents and award winning
designs, she has been honored
to receive the HBA’s Regal Award for Best Interior Merchandising,
the Parade of Homes People’s Choice Award and the Parade of
Homes Critic’s Choice Awards for Best Interior Design, Best Master
Bedroom, Best Master Bathroom, Best Kitchen, Best Child’s Room
and numerous other Parade of Homes special feature awards.
Christy strives to make a home inviting and comfortable. She is
delighted to blend the new with the old to create a beautiful home that
beckons you with its charm. “I believe that good design means that the
interior does not speak to me, yet once completed, it is a self-portrait
of the family who lives there”, explains Christy. “Whether the decor is
traditional, transitional or modern, or the palette is rich in color or layered
in neutrals, the same classic design principles of scale, proportion and
balance apply to every aspect of design. I respect my client’s preferences
in style, refine them and then reflect them in the best manner throughout
their home. In essence, this is the signature which defines my work.”
Christy is dedicated to bringing the best in design and customer
service while creating an environment that relates to her clients.
Her experience in a variety of design styles, in both residential and
commercial construction, has enabled her to work with builders and
individuals alike. This has encompassed model home merchandising,
home remodeling, new home construction and custom design for each
builder or family. She gives a fresh perspective by keeping up with new
designs, colors, fabrics and construction techniques. Christy vibrates
with energy and enthusiasm as she works to fulfill your dreams!

2012 Parade of Homes :: Olde Park in Forest Acres
Linda Burnside is a native
South Carolinian, but she
enjoys a national, even
international, reputation
as a leader in the interior design
industry as evidenced by her just
completed work from Paris to
Florida, Virginia, Texas, Arizona
and Oregon. But when she isn’t
traveling to meet her clients in
their primary residences or vacation
homes, Linda can be found bringing
her work to life in the coastal and mountain retreats for which
she is known and of course, here in her hometown, Columbia.
Linda opened LGB Interiors in 1987, and it wasn’t long before
she began making a name for herself. Linda’s formula for success
is simple – Listen to your client. Then take those visions and
develop a strategy. Whether it’s one room or beginning a project
in the construction phase, this blueprint for business provides
the benchmark of Linda’s achievements. She understands her
designs are only as good as the client’s satisfaction and enjoyment.
darby Schroder sees life
in the small details. Her
love of art and design
came at an early age.
With a father who is a builder and
a mother who loves architecture
and space planning, she was raised
on construction sites and watched
houses being built and renovated
constantly. She remembers loving
antiquing with her mom, closely
watching her parents draw up house
plans on yellow legal pad paper,
and being allowed to rearrange furniture and repaint her childhood
bedroom almost yearly. Surely this was a sign of what was to come.
Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Darby emerged from her childhood
with a distinct idea of what she wanted to become and a clear direction
of how to get there. After graduating from The University of South
Carolina with a degree in Art History, Darby completed her formal
training in New York City at the New York School of Interior Design.
While attending design school, she worked for designer, Eric J. Schmidt
to whom she says she owes much of her design and business knowledge.
Darby started Darby Interior Design in 2008 and has completed
projects all over South Carolina. Her hands-on design approach to
residential design is meticulous, working closely with all parties to
ensure the vision for each project is executed to the best of her abilities.
Her design style is modern and classic, an ideal just-right mix of old
and new that is inviting and timeless. Hesitant to define herself by
one certain look, one thread runs common throughout all her projects:
attention to details. She believes that, “it is the small details that count
and make a space memorable. The use of layering design elements
within the home creates an inviting feeling, one you want to live in.”
Darby lives in Columbia, South Carolina with her daughter (Annie
Legare- 2), two sons (Wrigs- 1 and Bud- 3 months), husband (Geordie),
and two basset hounds (Huckleberry and Hodie). In her spare time, she
loves being with her wonderful friends and family, scouring antique shops
and markets, traveling, and making improvements to her own home.
