Why?
First of all, I really want to thank you for
downloading this eBook. I hope it’ll give you
some ideas and inspiration for your next
small online business.
There’s no noble “save the world”-like
reason for creating this eBook. At first, I did
it purely for myself. Over the past two years
I’ve been gathering various information and
research material about different online
niches that might be worth tapping into.
This activity has resulted in 190+ different
niche ideas.
However, once I had the list ready I thought
I might as well share it with my subscribers
as a way of saying “thank you” for being on
my email list. So I went ahead and created
this eBook.
Finally, for all my readers, subscribers and
friends, thank you!
Who am I?
My name is Karol K, but you probably
already know that. I live in a country
located in the heart of Europe – Poland. I’m
an online business designer and blogger.
In addition, I’m working o my doctorate
(computer science) in the Silesian
University of Technology.
I’ve been online since I was 13 – not the
most popular hobby in Poland those days,
by the way.
But my internet passion didn’t get me
anywhere up until 2001 when I got my
hands on some books about HTML and
started creating websites as a hobby.
Since then I went through school, joined
a university, got my Master’s Degree, co-
owned a web design company, became
a grad student, and started a blog –
newInternetOrder.
I’m an online business designer. “Who’s
that?” says you.
Quite simply, it’s anyone who wants to do
business over the internet. Online business
designers are not average, they are ninja.
They are the masters of things like: internet
marketing, outsourcing, blogging,
productivity, advertising, and more.
If you want to become one then the first
steps are choosing your niche and
launching a website. I hope this eBook will
help you to make the decision and get the
machine rolling.

What Exactly is This eBook?
First let me tell you what it’s not.
This eBook is not a business guide of any
kind. I won’t be telling you what to do to be
successful in any of the following niches.
This eBook has been created to be a source
of inspiration for anyone who wants to
create a small online business or even just
a small blog as a side project for the
weekends. It simply presents a big set of
real niches that have a noticeable level of
popularity on the internet (in terms of search
volume on Google, for example).
The niches are
presented in a
“root search
term” style.
This means
that you can
use any of
them as a starting point for both further
market and keyword research. The niches
have many related terms which can be
used as sub-niches, if you think the main
one is too broad.
What to do with this information?
Each of these niches can be used to build a
website or a blog around it, and then
monetize it further along the way. Since
we’re talking about monetization let me
clarify that I won’t be giving any advice on it
here. That being said, I’m sure you’ll notice
very quickly that the niches I’m providing
can all be monetized by affiliate marketing,
advertising, creating your own products,
offering services, selling memberships, and
many other possibilities.
Before you actually pursue any of these
niches remember to perform an extensive
keyword research around them (you can
use Google Keyword Tool). Make sure that
they are indeed worth getting into, and
discover some related terms to make them
even more laser targeted and focused.
Furthermore, popularity changes over time.
This means that some of the niches here
might not have a long life span. That’s
another reason why proper research is so
important.
As you will see in a moment, some of the
niches sound a little obscure, strange or
even silly, and there’s very little main-
stream ones on the list. That’s because I’ve
chosen only the niches that are not too
broad (so you won’t find anything like
“digital photography”) but they are not to
narrow either (so you won’t find “underwater
pick-a-stick”). They all have a significant
amount of traffic and attention online for you
to tap into and create your own site.
Plus, there’s a bonus chapter on how to
choose a perfect niche that’s 100%
congruent with who you are and what skills
you already posses.
Ok, let’s just get on with it.

----- BONUS CHAPTER -----
What Approach to Take While Selecting Your Niche – 11 Ideas
It seems like every how-to post on blogging
or online business development tells you
that the number one thing you need to do
when starting your career is to find your
perfect niche. It’s difficult to disagree with
that because if you get this wrong
nothing else matters.
We all know that targeting the niche of
“everyone” is just a fancy way of saying
that you’re targeting no one. So here’s a
set of questions to ask yourself if you want
to find a tailor-made niche to create your
new business around.
1. What’s your job? What is it you
do every day?
Here’s a good
question to
start with. Two
reasons.
First. There’s
a big chance
that the number one thing you should be
building your business or blog around is
somewhat related to your day job.
Answering this question and being as
descriptive as possible can be a great hint
for further research.
Second. If you don’t like your job enough to
start another business in the same field
then why are you still working there?
The most important thing to focus on while
answering this question is the experience
you have gained in your field.
What are you experienced in the most?
What is the unique part about your
personal experience that distinguishes you
from the person sitting at the desk next to
you in the office?
2. What are you good at?
And I don’t only mean work. I mean it in a
much broader scope. Your hobbies,
interests, sports, hidden talents, you name
it. Just create a list of everything that
comes to mind. Don’t hold back. Even if
something sounds plain stupid, put it on the
list as well.
3. Name the rest of your hobbies,
interests and activities
You see, even though I said you shouldn’t
hold back I’m pretty sure you did. So now
name the rest of your hobbies and activities
you like doing every now and then. You
don’t even have to be good at them, being
interested is good enough. Now really,
really don’t hold back.
For example, I’m a fan of professional
wrestling. It’s not something I’m good at
(I’ve never been in a ring, nor will I try to
get in one in the near future) and it’s not
even a hobby, but I do enjoy watching it,
therefore it makes a point on the list.
4. What’s your level of comfort
when it comes to telling people
about your job/work, hobbies and
activities?
Running an online
business is no
different than running
an offline one. It’s just
like raising a hand
among a group of likeminded people and
saying something like “listen up, now I’m
going to tell you all about X.” Sounds scary,
doesn’t it?
What I’m implying here is that you need to
be really comfortable with what you’re
going to pursue. Sometimes you will
receive some nice pats on the back for
192 Unique & Creative Niche Ideas for Your Own Online Business – by Karol K.
http://newinternetorder.com/ | page 13
great and commonly agreeable posts you
publish on your blog, but sometimes people
will challenge you or even get angry
whenever you write something not so
obvious and less agreeable. You have to
be comfortable with your field to be able to
handle that.
So here’s a question: What are the top 10
things you’re comfortable talking about with
your friends or even strangers? Is it your
work? Maybe some of the hobbies?
Politics?
5. Choose the top 5 things with
the highest I-want-that factor
Now what I’m on about. Look at the list
you’ve created in the previous point (the
most comfortable topics), and try to decide
which topics have the best chance of
actually attracting the greatest interest and
engaging some real people. Find the things
that are the most likely to get people’s
attention to the extent where they would
like to join you in your adventure. Choose
five.
Here’s an example. Let’s say that, for some
reason, you’re a big fan of underwater pick-
a-stick. You find it the best game ever. And
every time you mention it at a party people
seem to be really interested and
entertained. But what’s the chance of
anyone coming to your place to have an
actual game? You get the point.
6. The way-back machine
Go back in time. Try to think of every past
activity you used to enjoy a lot, but for
some reason you stopped doing it.
This is a great way of finding a niche. One
of the most important reasons for
abandoning a certain activity is the lack of
motivation to keep going. Creating a
business and a blog about it might just be
enough motivation to start doing the thing
again, and enjoy it even more than ever
before.
7. What’s so special about you?
Is there something special about the way
you live? Or maybe about the
place/town/country you live in? Your
family? Your friends? Your car? Your dog?
Your diet? Your childhood? Anything. Just
make up a list of special/unique things
about you, your life, and the lives of people
around you. Who knows, maybe you’ll find
a topic for a new blog in your closest
environment.
8. Who do you know?
That’s a big one. For example, if you’re one
of the closest friends of Kanye West well,
that’s a niche right there. But you don’t
have to be friends with famous musicians
to pull this off.
Let me rephrase: Do you have access to
any unusual or unique sources of
information, expertise or entertainment? It
might be via a person, or via a secret
journal that belonged to your grandfather
you’ve just found on the attic. Take your
time to come up with an answer as it’s not
going to be the most obvious one.
9. Take the soon-to-be niches
you’ve come up with so far and
try to verify that there’s an
audience
The easiest way of doing this is by asking
Google for help. Just type your niche idea
in quotation marks and hit the search
button. Then just look at the number of
results. Anything above 10,000 and below
300,000 is niche enough.
There are many benefits in focusing on a
smaller niche that’s a part of a bigger
market. Mainly because you can find some
192 Unique & Creative Niche Ideas for Your Own Online Business – by Karol K.
http://newinternetorder.com/ | page 14
worthy partners, and there are more guest
blogging opportunities.
Let’s use my super niche example again –
underwater pick-a-stick. If I really want to
start a blog about playing the game here’s
what I should do.
First I should visit Google and search for
something like “how to play underwater
pick-a-stick”. Adding “how to” before the
phrase is a way of determining whether or
not people are already publishing
information about the particular topic. “How
to” titles are usually good indicators that
there is an audience for a topic (no
audience no traffic).
However, my example – 0 results. OK, let’s
broaden it up a little and search for
“underwater pick-a-stick” only. No results
here too. Probably not the best example
after all.
(Disclaimer. If you’re a little more
experienced with online market research
and keyword research, you know that I
barely touched upon the topic here. I think
that it’s not the time for doing an in-depth
research at this point. Now I just want to
find out if there’s any interest in the topic at
all.)
10. What’s your target audience?
I know it’s a little
difficult to come
up with this
completely out of
the blue at this
point, but just try
to wrap your mind
around this. Who
would you say is
the perfect audience for you?
Try to focus on things like: the country they
live in, their income, whether or not they’re
using the internet, their education, their
religion, their level of proficiency in the field
(beginners or world-class specialists, or
something in the middle), their age.
You can get some ideas by performing a
simple test. Try to find your soon-to-be
main competitor. Take their web address
and research it with Quantcast. Hopefully,
you’ll receive a nice portion of demographic
data.
11. Is your target audience the
audience of buyers?
This might be the thing that decides
whether or not you’ll be able to make some
money with your website in the future.
The easiest way of getting this kind of
knowledge is to find someone who’s
already selling something to your audience.
You can start your research on Amazon.
Just go to the magazines section and try to
find something regarding your topic. In 80
per cent of cases if there is a magazine it
means you’re dealing with an audience of
buyers.
If the Amazon test is a success you can
proceed to other online venues like Ebay or
Clickbank and find some products there
too.
Just 11 quick questions and you can have
your own niche by the end of the day.
But wait, there’s more! If you still can’t find
a niche then maybe creating a fake one is
the path to take?
