My Dear Friends in Christ,
I will keep this note short, because it is two days before Christmas: I’m guessing you won’t have much time to read!
This weekend’s Gospel narrates the encounter of Mary and Elizabeth: a familiar scene to us, we are reminded that Elizabeth speaks filled with the Holy Spirit. Here we have, just two days before Christ, a model for encounter. One holds Christ in her body; the other speaks with the power of the Holy Spirit. How might we, during this Christmas season, visiting friends and family, make sure to hold Christ in our hearts and speak always in the Spirit?
This challenge is certainly worthy of reflection on the Fourth Sunday of Advent!
If you’re away visiting family and friends this Christmas, allow me to offer an early promise of Christmas prayers to you and yours! Please pray for me – and know I’m praying for you.
EXPRESSING THANKS TO…. Catholic Slovak Club
The Catholic Slovak Club on Lockwood Avenue held a canned food drive just before Thanksgiving. They brought over cases of canned goods and non-perishables along with a donation of over $2,200 to help the food pantry. The funds will be used to purchase cases of food during our “tougher” times in the summer to supplement our food bags for those who come to the pantry.
Contribution Envelopes are available in the Parish Office.
If you did not pick them up in the back of church, please stop by the Office.
If there is an issue with your envelopes,
please call the Office at 963-4205.
