PRINCIPAL’S COMMENTS

Presentation Day

Yesterday’s Presentation Day was most pleasing indeed.

It was great to see so many parents, friends and

community members on hand to share in the celebration

of our students’ achievements throughout this year.

Feedback from many people yesterday was that they

enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you so much to everyone

who attended and thank you to the supportive

community groups who sponsored our awards and also

made the effort to be here to present them. I apologise

to Mr Wayne Castro for neglecting to mention his

sponsorship of the Sports Awards and understand that

he was quietly sitting in the audience.

Our deserving winner of the Tom Weekes Achievement

Award this year is Mrs Lynne Small—an extremely

popular choice!

School Leader Elections

Our Year 5 students who were nominated for the SRC

Leadership positions in 2015 did a tremendous job last

week in front of the school. Following the elections, five

students were selected as our SRC—Angus Harley, Paige

Deaves, Riley Gafa, Kaitlyn Groves and Dylan Brown.

They were inducted at the Presentation Day and I’m sure

they will do their utmost to uphold the traditions of our

school throughout 2015. Congratulations.

Kinder to Year 4 Water Fun Day

On Friday 12th December our K–4 students who have

received 40 or more points on their Monitoring Cards this

term will have the opportunity to participate in this fun

activity. Invitations will be sent home to the eligible

students on Thursday 11th December for them to take

part in this reward for positive classroom behaviour.

The Year 5 & 6 students had a terrific time last Friday

and we envisage our younger students will love this day

too! (So will I!)

School Survey

Thank you to the parents who took the time to complete

our end of year survey and I must say, the results were

quite positive. I have included the results at the end of

this newsletter for all to see.

P & C News

Our Canteen Manager, Dee Bagatella, decided to leave

us this week to pursue other avenues of employment.

We would like to thank Dee for all her hard work over

the past few years and wish her success for the future.

The Canteen Manager position for 2015 is still open to

Expressions of Interest until the end of this week.

Position Criteria packages may be collected from the

school’s office.

Resiliency in our Students

I have included a link to the well known

psychologist, Andrew Fuller who has spoken at a

number of NSW public education conferences. He

discusses the importance of resilience and ways

in which our young people can develop resilience.

The video gets off to a slow start, but the ‘pace’

improves and I suggest that it is well worth

viewing.

Farewell to Mrs Small

Mrs Small came to Mannering Park Public

School, as a classroom teacher in 1995.

She has worked at our school on classes

from Kinder to Year 6 in that time and in

2004 became Assistant Principal.

Mrs Small will be finishing in her role at

the end of this year and will be retiring

next year.

We would like to celebrate her career at MPPS and

bid her farewell with an afternoon tea on Tuesday, 9

December from 3:00pm in the school hall.

All parents who know Mrs Small or have had children

taught by her, are asked to join us to make this a

memorable occasion for her.

Parents of past children who have attended our

school are also asked to attend - spread the word.

If you are going to attend we ask that you fill out the

slip included with this newsletter and return by

Friday, 5 December to indicate how many are

coming so we can cater accordingly.

Thank you.

2014 Family Occupation and Education Index

(FOEI)

Last week a number of letters were sent to particular

parents to fill out a form regarding their occupation.

This is to assist us in gaining maximum benefit from

the annual funding from the State Government.

To date we have only had a few returned. Could you

please ensure that you return these forms promptly,

so we can submit our data. Only the highlighted

sections need to be filled out.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Book Club

I would like to thank everyone that has supported

our Book Club ordering throughout the year. We

have earned just over $500 worth of books that we

can purchase for our school library. Well done

everybody!

A big thank you must also go to Mrs Pryce. She has

been our volunteer book club organiser now for the

past couple of years and has done a great job -

thank you Kim.

We look forward to you all supporting us again next

year and hopefully you will be borrowing some of our

fantastic new books to take home to read next year.

Lorna Tomkins

Musical CD’s & DVD’s

Some of these orders were sent home today with

your children. Unfortunately not all orders have been

filled at this stage due to our order of DVD’s being

on back order. We will, however, have these out to

you next week.

If you have opted to pick up your order from the

office they will be available next week also.

Thank you so much for your patience.

Canteen News

Stock is running low so could all parents please have

a back up option for lunch orders please.

Thank you to all our volunteers who have helped out

this week.

P&C News

We still have some numbers available for

the ‘100 Club’. Winner receives $100 and

there are also 6 runner up prizes. Come

into the office and get a number before it

is too late!! Drawn as soon as all numbers

are sold.

Farewell to Mrs Small

Yes I would love to attend the Farewell for Mrs Small

on Tuesday, 9 December from 3:00pm in the school hall.
