ELC NEWSLETTER MAY - JUNE 2018
June 2018 | Vol. 2
The session incorporated the themes of Health, Science,
Superheroes, and teachers choice.
Some learning outcomes include identifying behaviours,
expressing ideas, teamwork, critical thought,
communication and respecting differences.
Students were involved in a number of events including
teambuilding exercises, elctalks, fieldtrips and more.
They visited the Scugog Shores Museum, had an elctalk
that spoke about nutrition, and learned how to build a
resume and tune up their interview skills.
Our students turned into a family this session. Whether it
was sushi lunches, playing cards, or spending time in the
lounge.
Our Instagram page is filled with photos, videos, and a
snapshot of their fun session.

We were pleased to welcome Krizia Tatangelo, a District
Dietitian with Aramark, for an ELCtalk. Krizia introduced
the Canadian food guide, spoke about portion sizes and
healthy eating alternatives.
Students were even greeted with some healthy snacks
and drinks to brighten their day.
Thank you, Krizia, for an eye-opening visit.
For this session’s passion week, students were expected
to create, design or dress up as a superhero of their
choice. It could be represented in a costume, poster,
video, or graphic novel.
The students had to describe what powers they
possessed, personality traits, characteristics and why
they chose that.
It was incredibly fun and successful. Congratulations!
We welcomed 13 new students to the English Language
Centre. Each student brought their own character and
outlook on life. They have all worked so hard to settle in
and we are so proud!
Saying goodbyes are always so hard! Congratulations to
our students who have graduated from the ELC and will
be moving on to their next challenge. We will miss you!
Our new students bonded by skating together.
