St. Thomas ways of proving God exist

Five way

s

1st

-the argument in

motion

2 nd

-from nature of

an efficient cause

3rd

- Based on what

can exist and

what must exist

4th

-base on the

gradations that

exist in things

5th

-based on order

in the universe

Page 8: Does god exist

1ST way

Says that everything moves is moved by something else, for nothing can move unless it has the potentiality of acquiring the perfection of that towards which is move

Page 9: Does god exist

2nd way

In the second way, he says also in the world of sense we find that there is a sequence of efficient causes, but we never find something that cause itself, and it is impossible to do.

Page 10: Does god exist

3rd wayContingent being

being does not exist necessarily It may exist or may not exist It begins to exist at some point in time Example: Human being

NECESSARY BEING A being witch always exist Witch never begin to be nor ever passes out of existence Example: God if necessary being does not exist therefore; contingent being

would not exist We are not here Man w/o god is nothing God w/o man is still a god

Page 11: Does god exist

4th way Thomas speak about the

Degree of perfection Degree of perfection is found

in contingent beings Maximum perfection is found

in a necessary being w/c is God.

Page 12: Does god exist

5th way

Being one of the contingent being we are lack of intelligence acting for specific end or purpose

This is not happen by just a chance but a plan and design

Comments of the group Does god really exist? This is the reason that encourage us

to read and to analyze what Saint Thomas want us to understand. The proof are strong enough to agree that God really exist. Being one of monotheism we are now knowledgeable about the existence of God. The 5 ways and the things we can know about God are very helpful to us, to strengthen our faiths to the supreme being. Our faith allowing God to control, to guide and to help us to our daily life.

even thought we can not see God we believe because we know that w/in in our heart and the knowledge in our mind we can say that God really exist. Not only to create us but also to lead us to our purpose or to our ends. We also stand up on the side of St. Thomas Aquinas that God is the uncaused cause of every thing we also agreed that God is a necessary being, unique and totally uncompose in w/c we all know that God is the only one and powerful in this world.
