The electric motor drives an air pump which drawsin air from the atmosphere and delivers it into theair receiver tank through the air receiver tanksupply tube. When the air pressure in the airreceiver tank reaches the operating pressure of 8Bar the pressure switch operates and switchesOFF the mains supply to the motor. At the sametime the air that is in the pump cylinder, air receivertank, supply tube and the pressure switch isdischarged. This depressurises the pump and thepressure regulating system allowing the pump tore-start when the air pressure in the air receivertank falls below the minimum operating pressure of6 Bar. The pressure switch is fitted with a delayeddischarge valve which will start the air pump motor. The pressure relief safety valve is set to operate at8.5 Bar and is connected directly onto the airreceiver tank and will operate if the set pressure of8.5 Bar is exceeded should the pressure switch fail.

11

OPERATIONOVERLOAD PROTECTIONThis compressor is fitted with an overloadprotection device, In the event that the motorbecomes too hot a thermal protection device willcut the mains supply to the motor. When the motortemperature returns to normal, the mains supplywill be restored automatically.

SWITCHING ON AND OFFWARNING. Switching On & Off must bedone using the On/Off switch mountedon the compressor. Switching thecompressor Off at the mains supply candamage the motor and will invalidate theguarantee.

Before switching on the power supply to thecompressor check that the On/Off switch is in theOff position (pressed in) (Fig.6).

Check that the air outlet pressure regulator isclosed (Fig 7).

Check that the drain valve is closed (Fig.8).

Connect the compressor to a suitable 16A mainssupply. Switch on the compressor by pulling up theOn/Off switch (Fig.9). The compressor will nowstart.

When the air receiver tank is pressurised to itsworking capacity the compressor will automaticallyswitch off. When the compressor switches off therewill be the sound of leaking air while the pressureregulating system is depressurised, this will last foronly a few seconds and is quite normal. Check allvalves and regulators for leaks. Note duringextended periods of use the air receiver tanksupply tube will become hot.

WARNING. Always ensure the switch isin the OFF position (pressed in) andthe pressure gauge reads zero beforechanging air tools or disconnecting thehose from the air outlet. Failure to do socould result in possible serious personalinjury.
