I am delighted with the release of the latest issue of Dr. D. Y. Pa l Vidyapeeth (DPU) newsle er! The newsle er records the various achievements of DPU in the last academic year.

The best thing about this issue is that it represents the crea ve side of DPU students to a fair degree-something that we think we all need to reconnect with. Amidst the busy schedule of semesters, exams, surprise quizzes and all those assignments and problem sheets that keep one busy, we tend to lose track of all the other simpler things that we are capable of, things that we could have been proud of, that can bring one sa sfac on. So this me, the issue has made an a empt to bring out the talent concealed within our student community. This issue includes ar cles, poems, anecdotes, art-works and a host of other things.

In this issue, you can read examples of the impact that our faculty and staff members have on students and alumni or see how our student body steps up me and me again to help others in their me of need. I hope that reading this newsle er will have an impact on and encourage you to have an impact on others. We may never know how much our words or ac ons influence the lives of those around us. But we can choose daily to be a posi ve influence on others in a way that could change the rest of their lives even if it’s just within the walls of where you work. Here at DPU, colleagues not only support and encourage each other but are there in me of each other’s need.

As for our team of editors, designers, photographers, and correspondents, in addi on to genera ng crea ve content from the student popula on has worked extensively to report on the events in and around the Vidyapeeth. The final publica on reflects and encompasses the diversity inherent to the academic and extra-curricular spaces in DPU. The newsle er con nues to expand its reach to achieve its vision of being a truly representa ve student publica on.

At DPU, cultural ac vi es have always been an integral part of students’ academic pursuit. For, every ac vity in an educa onal ins tu on plays a significant role in students’ overall development.

The Vidyapeeth designs cultural and social ac vi es that are aligned with the educa onal objec ves of the ins tu on and the requirement of the students. Whether the ac vi es focus on sports, arts, music, science or other areas and co-curricular ac vi es.... they play a significant role in students’ overall development, as well as screening talents and gi edness among students.

These ac vi es assist students in adap ng to real life scenarios and enhance their personal skills. It also helps them in be ering organiza onal, presenta on, leadership and interpersonal communica on skills. Not only that, these ac vi es play a compelling role in enriching students on an emo onal, cogni ve, physical, and social level. It also acts as a catalyst for the promo on of na onal integra on, coexistence, cultural values, and general health and well-being of the country. So, organizing these ac vi es is a must. The coordinators of these events at DPU spend considerable me organizing, managing and balancing these ac vi es so that it is a uned properly with the academic curriculum.

All these ac vi es provide every student get the opportunity to learn beyond subjects and the mere confines of a classroom. In today's mes, the importance of these ac vi es cannot be undermined.

Welcome!

It’s the me of the year when we start to take account of our accomplishments and triumphs and set new goals. At the same stage, we review our shortcomings, try to recalibrate it and never rerun it. But, we have also scored many goals in the last couple of months. It has been feasible only because of the efforts taken by our faculty and students. Kudos for their achievements! This issue highlights that span of exper se. It captures a vibrant mix of intellectual prowess in the humani es, natural sciences, social sciences and so on. It also encompasses a wide range of crea ve pursuits in the visual and performing arts. We also wanted each write up to inspire and provide you with the how-tos and resources so that your own vision, goals and dreams would become a ainable to you in your unique way.

Coming to Dr. D Y Pa l Vidyapeeth (DPU), Pune, we have . .always encouraged our students to reach for the stars. We try to bring out the inherent quali es latent in them. The formal and informal, tangible and intangible, ac vi es together prepare students for real life and strengthen their personal skills. To

make each student reach their target, we have le no stone unturned.

All this is done keeping in mind the values and ideals of the Vidyapeeth like being compassionate, self-reliant, to be a leader amongst others and so on. According to Dr. D Y Pa l, the Founder of Dr. D Y Pa l Vidyapeeth, ethics and principles should . . . .be imbued in the ethos of the rich Indian culture. And..... I have always believed that ideals and values make th man! e

….. perorates many moral values that might change a person to be a ‘man of the Earth’. It expa ate specific values to live by in life. The central idea is that success comes from self-control and a true sense of the values of things. In extremes lies danger. One must not languish because of doubts or opposi on, yet put in his very best to see the grounds for both. We should live not only for ourselves but also for others. If these principles are prac sed, everyone can live in peace and harmony. Moreover, to achieve your goals, one must have balance.

With this relevant counsel, I would like to conclude! Before that, I want and will welcome your feedback and input. I just want this Newsle er to be the very best that it can be.
