2. In a class, there are 45 students. 5 students can sit in each bench. How
many benches will be needed for them to sit?
2. Solution:
5 students can sit in 1 bench
45 students can sit in (45 ÷ 5) benches
= 9 benches
Ans: 9 benches will be needed for them to sit.
3. 48 guavas were distributed equally among 6 persons. How many guavas
did each person get?
3. Solution:
6 persons got 48 guavas
1 pesson got (48 ÷ 6) guavas
= 8 guavas
Ans: Each person got 8 guavas.

4. The price of each banana is Tk.6 . How many such bananas can be
bought for Tk.90?
4. Solution:
For Tk. 6 can be bought 1 banana
For Tk. 90 can be bought (90 ÷ 6) bananas
= 15 bananas
Ans: 15 bananas can be bought for Tk.90.
5. Reza has Tk. 532 . If an egg costs Tk. 7, how many can he buy and how
much money remains?
5. Solution:
For Tk. 7 he can buy 1 egg
For Tk. 532 he can buy (532 ÷ 7) eggs
= 76 eggs

The price of 1 pencil is Tk. 20
The price of 5 pencils is Tk.(20 x 5)
= Tk. 100

The price of 1 exercise book is Tk. 25.
The price of 6 exercise book is Tk.(25 x 6)
= Tk. 150
Now,
The price of 5 pencils is Tk. 100
The price of 6 exercise book is Tk.150
Total = Tk.250
Ans: Tk.250 will be needed.
3. 3 parts out of 5 parts of a 60-meter long ribbon are given to Ruma.
How many meters of the ribbon does Ruma get?
3.Solution:
5 parts of a ribbbon is equal to 60 meters
1 part of a ribbbon is equal to (60 ÷ 5) meters
= 12 meters
3 parts of a ribbbon is equal to ( 12 x 3) meters
= 36 meters
Ans: Ruma gets 36 meters of the ribbon.

4. There are 55 books in each almirah. How many books are there in 12
such almirah?
4.Solution:
In 1 almirah there are 55 books
In 12 almirahs there are (55 x 12) books
= 660 books
Ans: There are 660 books in 12 almirahs.
5. In a class, there are 44 students. How many benches will be needed for
4 students to sit in each bench?
5.Solution:
4 students can sit in 1 bench
44 students can sit in (44 ÷ 4) benches
= 11 benches
Ans: 11 benches will be needed.
6. There are 32 lozenges in a packet. How many lozenges are in 8 such
packets?
6.Solution:
In 1 packet there are 32 lozenges
In 8 packets there are (32 x 8) lozenges
= 256 lozenges
Ans: There are 256 lozenges in 8 packets.

7. The price of a book and 3 pencils are Tk.95 together. The price of a
pencil is Tk.20. What is the price of a book?
7.Solution:
The price of 1 pencil is Tk.20
The price of 3 pencils are Tk.(20 x 3)
= Tk. 60
Again,
The price of a book and 3 pencils are Tk.95
The price of 3 pencils are Tk.60
The price of a book is = Tk.35
Ans: The price of a book is Tk.35.
8. There were 83 mangoes. Reza took 6 mangoes from them and
distributed the rest equally to his 7 friends. How many did each of his
friends get?
8.Solution:
There were 83 mangoes
Reza took 6 mangoes from them
Remain = 77 mangoes
Now,
7 friends got 77 mangoes
1 friend got (77 ÷ 7) mangoes
= 11 mangoes

Ans: Each of his friends got 11 mangoes.
9. Rahim’s weight is 25 kg. Akash’s weight is 3 kg more than Rahim’s
weight. Ali’s weight is 34 kg. What is the difference between Akash
and Ali’s weight?
9.Solution:
Rahim’s weight is 25 kg.
Akash’s weight is 3 kg more than Rahim’s weight
So, Akash’s weight is = (25 + 3 ) kg
= 28 kg
Again,
Ali’s weight is 34 kg
Akash’s weight is 28 kg
Difference = 6 kg
Ans: The difference between Akash and Ali’s weight is 6 kg.
10. It is possible to keep 42 books in a shelf. 2 such shelves are filled
with books and there are 8 more books. How many books are there
altogether?
10.Solution:
In 1 shelf there are 42 books
In 2 shelves there are (42 x 2)books
= 84 books

Again,
There are 84 books in 2 shelves
There are 8 more books
Total =92 books
Ans: There are 92 books altogether.
11. There are 10 benches in a class. 5 students can be seated in each
of the 6 benches. 4 students can be seated in each of the remaining 4
benches. How many students can be seated altogether in 10 benches?
11.Solution:
In 1 bench can be seated 5 students
In 6 benches can be seated (5 x 6)students
= 30 students
Again,
In 1 bench can be seated 4 students
In 4 benches can be seated (4 x 4)students
= 16 students
Now,
In 6 benches can be seated 30 students
In 4 benches can be seated 16 students
Total = 46 students
Ans: 46 students can be seated altogether in 10 benches.

12. Sukumar gets Tk.90 per month as scholarship. He gave Rina
Tk.95 from his 12 months scholarship. How much money remains
with him?
12.Solution:
In 1 month he gets Tk. 90
In 12 months he gets Tk.(90 x 12)
= Tk. 1080
Again,
He got Tk. 1080
He gave Tk. 95
Remains =Tk.985
Ans: Tk.985 remains with him.
13. There are 74 litchies in a basket. There are 70 litchies in another
basket. The litchies of the two baskets are put together and distributed
equally among 8 persons. How many litchies does each person get?
13.Solution:
In one basket there are 74 litchies
In another basket there are 70 litchies
Total = 144 litchies
Now,
8 persons get 144 litchies
1 person gets(144÷8)litchies
= 18 litchies

14. Tahmina bought a packet of 50 balloons. From them she kept 8
balloons for her. Remaining balloons were given equally among 8
friends. How many balloons does Tahmina’s each friend get?

Tahmina bought 50 balloons
Tahmina kept 8 balloons
Remain = 42 balloons
Now,
8 friends get 42 balloons
1 friend gets (42÷8)balloons
= 5 balloons and 2 balloons left

1 flood victim got Tk.( 2400 ÷ 10)
= Tk. 240
Ans: Each flood victim got Tk.240
16. The mother’s present age is 3 times that of the son. At present
mother’s age is 45 years. What is son’s present age?
16.Solution:
The mother’s age is 45 years
The mother’s present age is 3 times that of the son
That means the son’s age is one third of his mother’s age
So, the son’s age is ( 45 ÷ 3) years
= 15 years
Ans: The son’s present age is 15 years
17. Shuroma sold 6 dozen eggs at the rate of Tk.90 per dozen. From
what she got, she spent Tk.85 in the market. The remaining amount
she deposited in the bank. What amount did she deposit in the bank?
17.Solution:
The price of 1 dozen eggs is Tk. 90
The price of 6 dozen eggs is Tk.(90 x 6)

= Tk.540
Now,
She got Tk.540
She spent Tk. 85
Remain =Tk.455
Ans: She deposited Tk.455 in the bank
18. The father’s present age is 4 times that of the girl. 4 years ago,
the girl’s age was 6 years. What is the father’s present age?
18.Solution:
4 years ago, the girl’s age was 6 years
So, the present age of the girl is (6 + 4) years
= 10 years
The father’s present age is 4 times that of the girl.
So, the father’s present age is ( 10 x 4) years
= 40 years
Ans: The father’s present age 40 years
