Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College is a premier institute of engineering that has carved a niche for itself in the field of technical education in a very short

span of time. The college has made its presence felt in the world of technical education.Unique in its structure, methods and goals, the college is strongly

rooted in the philosophy of training and research that emphasizes the relationship between knowledge and its application and seeks to promote the creation

of an ideal society. The college also provides facilities for research leading to Ph.D in selected six subjects through its Research Center. JNEC provides a congenial

atmosphere for diligent academic pursuits. This has been reflected through the results. Most of our students are among the toppers in various Engineering

disciplines. The college is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, which confers the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Master of

Engineering (M.E.), in various disciplines and Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.) as well as M.Arch., Master of Computer application & MET. JNEC is the first

college in Marathwada to have been accredited by NBA and Council of Architecture.

The foundation stone of existing JNEC building was laid by Hon. Shri Sharad Pawar the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Nov. 14th, 1985.

PROFILE OF MAHATMA GANDHI MISSION TRUST

MGM Trust was established on Dec 20,

1982 under Societies Registration Act

1860 and BPT Act 1950 to promote edu-

cation in the region of Marathwada. The

Trust has number of member institutions

Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College was established in 1983 under the aegis of Mahatma Gandhi Mission trust led by Chairman Shri Kamalkishore Kadam, who is an IIT Engineer from Mumbai. He had also been the Education Minister & Deputy Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Council. The foundation stone of the existing JNEC building was laid by Hon. Aurangabad city was founded by Malik Amber, the Prime Minister of Nizam Shah of Ahmednagar in 1610 A.D, on site of village Kirki (Win-dow) since it serves as an opening between the North and South Cul-ture. DURATION OF COURSE

The duration of course in engineering is four years & five years in Architec-ture, starting from July/August of every YearEligibility Criteria HSC Examination (12th Standard) of Higher Secondary State Board in India or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of Chemistry/Biotech/Biology/Technical vocational subject and secured min.50% marks (45% incase of candidate of backward class cat-egory and person with disability belonging only to Maharashtra state.), and qualified entrance test conducted by competent authorities.For Architecture, Passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equiva-lent examination with Mathematics as a subject and secured minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for backward class candidates from Maharash-tra State only) in the HSC (Std XII) examination. ORPassed Diploma in under 10+3 diploma (any stream) Examination rec-ognized by central/ state government or its equivalent examination and secured minimum 50% aggregate marks. (45% for backward class candi-dates) ANDHold valid score at National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conduct-ed by the Council of Architecture for the academic year (with minimum 40% valid score.)Lateral entry eligibility in Engineering Disciplines Criteria 10 + 3 Diploma ( any stream) recognised by Central or State Gov-ernments with 50% aggregate marks. Assessment The Students are assessed through class tests conducted by departments, work assigned to them in the form of term work and final theory, and practical examinations conducted by the Dr. Bababsaheb Ambedkar Mar-athwada University. Fee Structure The Interim tuition fees for the academic year 2015-2016 is Rs. 87,500/- + 3000 Deposite as per the norms of Shikshan Shulka Samiti. This year the fee structure will be as per the declaration of the Shikshan Shulka Samiti.Prevention of RaggingDue to strict vigilance, there is no incident of ragging in the college so far & undertaking proforma is taken by every candidate as per norms of AICTE.

Aim of the Central Computing Facilities The aim of establishing the central computing infra-structure is to provide computing & internet facility to the whole campus and to support students in their project work, seminars & presentations. It is respon-sible for the campus Data maintenance, ERP record management, preparing instructional material CDs & DVDs and also Desktop Publishing.IntroductionThe Central Computer Centre is fully air conditioned and distraction free. The Lab has 200 latest configura-tion computers with 19” LED TFT monitors and com-fortable seating arrangement for students & staff. The computers are connected to high end manageable switches (L2 & L3) which are behind secured Firewall. It has fully generator backup solution to avoid power cuts & failure. Aim of the FacilitiesThe sports facility is an integral part of edu-cational activity to keep students physically and mentally healthy for this, MGM has es-tablished huge sports complex with indoor and outdoor game facilities. STUDENT COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE CELLA student counseling and guidance cell is started in Dec 2005. The main objective of this cell is to solve academic as well as non-academic prob-lems of the students.

GREEN HOUSEThe Green House produces the flowers like, Jarbera, Ra-jani Gandha and Roses which are used for decorations in the Institute functions.

JNEC Alumni Association, the third pillarJNEC Alumni Association is one of the biggest strength of JNEC. Some alumni are working in various countries like USA, UK, Canada, Ger-many, New Zealand, Australia, China, Japan, Dubai and other South East part of Asia. Obvi-ously JNEC alumni are working in every state of India Kashmir to Tamilnadu and Gujarat to Tripura. More than that, one of our Alumnus Commander Mangal Kakkad was the part of Antarctica expedition also. Many of them are working in Premier En-gineering, Electronics, Chemical, Software, Construction, Pharmaceuticals, Finance and Defense industries in private and public sec-tor. Some of them are on key positions in Re-search and Development, Design, Manufac-turing, Marketing, HRD, Quality Assurance, Maintenance and Finance sectors. We are proud to mention our Alumnus Dr. Swapneshu Baser who was faculty member at IIT Bombay. About Half a Dozen JNEC alumni are Heading the Engineering Colleges and Institutions. Our alumni are working in prestigious institu-tions like NASA, ISRO, Indian Army, Navy and Air force. Many of them have completed post graduation from IIT, IIM.

JNEC alumnus and Managing Director of Jaypee Power Ventures Ltd Mr. Suren Jain has taken noble initiative to form JNEC Corpus Fund. He and his better half Mrs. Anjali Jain (Who is also a JNEC alumnus) leading from front announced to contribute Rs. 25 lakhs to start this fund. This is first of its kind initiative in this type of institution in the state. JNEC Corpus Fund will support needy students for their expenses with defined guidelines. As on today Rs. 26, 25,000 are com-mitted by JNEC alumni for the proposed JNEC Corpus Fund. On behalf of MGM-JNEC manage-ment former Principal and Trustee Mr. Pratap Borade has announced that, “Once all formalities related to the proposed fund are completed the management will take appropriate decision to contribute significant amount to this fund.” It is proposed by Mr. Suren Jain that one commit-tee consisting representative of MGM-JNEC management, principal, teacher representatives, alumni representatives and one or two coopted members will be given authority for utilization of this fund as per the guidelines defined. JNEC Corpus Fund expected to take shape in short period and will be a great support to needy students learning in JNEC. Alumni Coordinator Prof. Dr. Abhay Kulkarni is hopeful for commitment up to Rupees One Crore for the JNEC Corpus Fund in near future.

There are Entrepreneurs like Mr. Shrikant Badve who received two times awards at the hands of President of India and once at the hands of Prime Minister for contribution in respective field. JNEC girls alumni are not behind but making great con-tribution in their respective fields. Some of the alumni are also contributing in fields of journal-ism, literature, sports and performing arts.

One of the notable thing is that the alumni share a cordial rapport with JNEC and are contribut-ing in various modes and initiatives for the JNEC students. Placements, In-plant Trainings, Indus-trial visits, Lecture talks, Sponsoring the needy students, Special Trainings, Sharing Experiences, Sponsoring Projects , Providing special facilities , Guidance and counseling are some of these initiatives. Truly JNEC alumni association is work-ing as strong driving force for the betterment of JNEC students.

Recently Alumni meet for first five batches was arranged on campus. Around 50 percent of first five batches alumni attended the meet with fam-ily members. Some of the proposed initiatives discussed during the meet are as follows.

• Buying special recreational tools for student hostels like Billiards/snooker table, LCD TV etc.

• Developing a good library in the Hostels. • Subscribing for digital data bank/technical

literature for institute library to help in Lit-erature/patent search for students

• Funding of some critical but expensive com-ponents needed in student projects

• Sponsoring partly to JNEC students and staff for presenting papers at conferences/partici-pating in technical competitions etc.

• Buying of some special tools like very pow-erful computational facility / Wi-Fi hardware etc in the campus that can be useful to all departments

• Awarding scholarships in the form of books, other expenses apart from fees to economi-cally backward students .

In addition to official alumni meets there are fre-quent informal alumni meets in various part of the countries and overseas also. Through social networking sites most of the alumni have day to day contact with each other and with their Alma mater. Today JNEC alumni association is emerged as third pillar along with previous to pillars i.e.Students and Staff. In the beginning of this academic year, an Alum-ni Entrepreneur meet was arranged in Einstein Hall so as to induce Entrepreneurial awareness among the students. Alumni shared their journey of an Entrepreneur. An exhibition of their creativ-ity as witness of their success was also displayed. Campus was also been conducted by them. An alumni meet was organized at Gulmohar club New Delhi for alumni residing Delhi NCR in Sept. 2012. games with us and enjoyed a lot.D] A grand meeting with Hon. Mr. Sharad PawarNSS unit members had arranged a meeting with Hon. Mr. Sharad Pawar at Baramati in March 2015. The intension behind this meeting was to have interaction with such a great politician, to know about his life, to learn some different quali-ties from him and specially to know that apart from our career how to become a good person in the society.E] Visit to KVK, BaramatiApart from social visits, NSS unit of JNEC also ar-ranges educational tours and visits. Visit to Krishi Vidnyan Kendra (KVK) of Baramati in March 2015 was one of these activities. At KVK, members of NSS unit learned about advanced technologies of farming and proximate developments in the field of agriculture.F] Blood donation camps NSS unit of JNEC regularly arranges blood dona-tion camps in the college. This year more than 350 students and 40 staff donated blood in various camps organized by the unit. G] Rakshabandhan at NavjeevanEversy year members of NSS unit celebrate Rakshabandhan with the students of Navjeevan. They celebrate this festival by giving sweets to these students. Girls of that school tied the Rakhi traditionally to the boys of NSS unit and girls of NSS unit tied Rakhi to the boys of that school.H] INNOVA-Creating Best out of Waste NSS unit of JNEC had arranged a competition named INNOVA-Creating Best out of Waste. In this competition participants created various use-ful things from the waste available in the nearby campus of the college. The motto behind organ-

izing this competition was to develop different techniques of destroying waste and to make the students think about it. Beyond these activities, NSS unit also arranged following activities:1. Cleanliness program,2. Tree plantation,3. Eye checkup camp,4. Blood checkup camp,5. Lecture talks, etc. 3. Visits NSS Unit regularly visits different places, then it may be a historic place or a social organization. The unit has visited different forts like Devgiri, Rajgarh, Rayghar, Bahadurgad, Sinhagad and So-cial organizations like Snehalay, Navjeevan, Aapla Ghar, Matoshri Vridhashram.SPECIAL VISITDhadak Mohim (MELGHAT)22 members (19 boys & 3 girls) of NSS unit have attended the Dhadak Mohim at Melghat arranged by Maitri organization. Under this, they went to the villages of Melghat and took care of the chil-dren and people over there. They stayed there in different villages for 10 days. They got to know the problems of the villagers and that locality. They also enjoyed the nature and the rainy atmosphere of Melghat.RESIDENTIAL CAMPCamp at Cilati,MelghatAs per every year, in 2014-15 also NSS unit has organized a residential camp of 7 days (24th Jan-31st Jan) at Chilati,Melghat. Members of NSS unit stayed at Chilati but worked in nearby 3 vil-lages. They also spent some time with the villag-

ers, learned their culture and enjoyed with them. Those 7 days were well planned for various activi-ties such as-• Digging of Soak pits.• Digging of pits for natural fertilizers.• Awareness programs for villagers.• Education through games for children.• Interaction with villagers.

17. Sushrut Karmarkar represented India as del-egate in the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the Pune Model United Nations Conference. The agenda was poverty Eradi-cation .He was instrumental in drafting the resolution that was passed and was awarded with the Et Laudiblis Delegate’s Silver Medal. The conference was held in association with United Nations information centre for India and Bhutan. He has also attended the Har-vard World Model United Nations Conference at Seoul, South Korea as a delegate from India representing in the Disarmament & Interna-tional Security Council (DISEC).The Agenda for the conference held between 17th and 20th March 2015 was cyber warfare and missile deterrent systems.

Fee Structure The Interim tuition fees for the academic year 2015-2016 is Rs. 87,500/- (Eighty-Seven Thousand and Five Hundred Only ) + 3000 deposit as per the norms of Shikshan Shulka Samiti. This year the fee structure will be as per the declaration of the Shikshan Shulka Samiti.
