prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu chaired ihe maiden meeting of
;il U;i;;rr'ity Syndicate constituted for the triennial period 202l-2024' While initiating the
proceedings, the Vice Chancellor extended a warm welcome to all the members of the
University Syndicate.
The vice chancellor apprised the Syndicate about the overall functioning of lle university'
Prof. Dhar informed that the University of Jammu is a NAAC accredited A+ University and
figures in first.100 universities of the country as per NIPF ranking since last several years'
He said that Unive.rity of Jammu is among the ien high-performing state universities and
recognized as category-l University- by "the
MHRD (now Department of Education'
Government of mailiicross India una fru, been sanctioned Rs' 100 crore under Rashtriya
uchchaatar shiksha Abhiyaan (RUSA) to promote excellence in teaching, research and
innovation. He said that University adied another feather in its cap by securi'g 9tl'position

in a survey conducted by The week Hansa Research survey for the year 202I' He added that
University of Jammu isihe only U,iversity fiorn the U.T of J&K to figure in the list and has
shown considerable improvement from 3gfr position last year to 25tl'position this year'
prof. Dhar further added that the University of Jammu has shown splendid performance in
the centre for world Ranking (cwuR), zozt-zz rankings by attaining-l682.position at the
global level and ir th.;;ly Uiiversity in'ttre Union Territory of J&K to figure in the top 2000
global Universities. The University iras consistently improved its ranking from 1878 during
iotg_zoto l71g during 2021 and 16g2 in 2o2l-22,he added.
Prof. Dhar apprised the members that the University of Jammu has become the first
University in J&K ur, selected by the University Grants commission (UGC) to start full-
fledged online degree programmes in Masters in English and Commerce through its
Direltorate of Distalnce da,r*tion from the academic session 2021-22'
During the proceedings the vice chancellor also informed the members that in order to make
the University of Jarimu one of the finest Institutes of Teaching, Leaming and Research at
national and international level, the university in recent past has signed MoUs with the
