CONFERMENT OF DEGREES
(i) DEGREESThe Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Student Affairs will rise and request all DEGREE recipients to stand up for the award of their respective DEGREES.
The Chancellor will then rise and confer the DEGREES by saying:
“I confer upon you the respective DEGREES of The Technical University of and by the powers bestowed upon me give you the authority to read and do all that appertains to the respective DEGREES”
Then the graduates will all together TURN THE TASSEL FROM RIGHT TO LEFT then bow (for men)/curtsey (for ladies) and resume their seats.
(ii) DOCTORATEThe Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Student Affairs will request Directors of Schools to invite individual recipients of Doctor of Philosophy Degrees to approach the Chancellor for the award of their respective DEGREES.
The doctoral candidate will approach the dais, kneel at the designated place on the dais to receive respective DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY.
The Chancellor will then rise, place doctoral cap on the head of the candidate and confer the DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY DEGREES by saying:
“I confer upon you the DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY of The Technical University of Kenya and by the powers bestowed upon me give you the authority to read and do all that appertains to the respective DEGREE”
Then the graduate will rise, TURN THE TASSEL FROM RIGHT TO LEFT bow (for men)/curtsy (for ladies) return to their seats.
