Motivation is an important thing to exist within a student especially the
motivation in learning, because the motivation is good to encourage for students
to have spirit and desire to study hard so that can drive a student to be reached the
achievements especially in learning English. This research is categorized as a
qualitative research that has the purpose to find out the factors influencing
students‟ motivation in learning English. In this research, the data will be taken
from X TN (marketing) with the total of students 34 students, where the students
in X TN become the object research because it has the highest level of motivation
in learning compared with students‟ motivation in the other classes in the tenth
grade in SMKN 1 Kotabumi North Lampung. In this research, the researcher used
questionnaire and observation sheet as instrument to collecting the data. Based on
the theory from Siregar and Nara,there are two factors influencing students
motivation in learning English that are extrinsic and intrinsic factors. Each factor
has some aspects, extrinsic factor is related to students‟ environment conditions,
the dynamic element, the teacher effort. Meanwhile, intrinsic factor is related to
ideals and students‟ aspiration, students‟ ability and students‟ condition. By seeing
the result of research it can be concluded that there are two factors like extrinsic
and intrinsic factors that influencing students‟ motivation in learning English.
Both of the factors consist of three aspects. But, from all of aspects in intrinsic and
extrinsic, there are three aspects that are very strong to show that students‟
motivation in learning English, there are the dynamic element, the teacher effort,
and ideals students‟ aspiration.

Menengah Kejuruan Negeri 1 Kotabumi Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017. Skripsi,
Program Studi Bahasa Inggris, Pendidikan bahasa dan Seni, STKIP
Muhammadiyah Kotabumi Lampung. Pembimbing pertama, Rulik Setiani,
S.S, M.Pd. dan pembimbing kedua Elis Susanti, S.Pd., M.Pd.
Motivasi adalah hal penting yang terdapat dalam diri siswa khususnya
motivasi dalam belajar, karena motivasi adalah dorongan yang baik bagi siswa
agar mereka mempunyai semangat dan keinginan untuk rajin belajar dan dengan
hal ini dapat mengantarkan siswa dalam mencapai prestasi belajar mereka
khususnya dalam belajar bahasa inggris. Penelitian ini dikategorikan sebagai
penelitian kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mencari faktor-faktor yang
mempengaruhi motivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa inggris. Dalam penelitian ini
data diambil dari kelas X TN (penjualan) dengan siswa berjumlah 34 orang yang
dimana siswa pada kelas X TN menjadi objek penelitian karena memiliki tingkat
motivasi yang paling tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan kelas laiinya di SMKN 1
Kotabumi Lampung Utara. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan kuesioner
dan lembar observasi dalm mengumpulkan data. Berdasarkan teori dari Siregar
dan Nara, terdapat dua faktor yang mempengaruhi motivasi belajar siswa yaitu
faktor ekstrinsik dan faktor intrinsik. Setiap faktor terdiri atas tiga aspek seperti
kondisi lingkungan siswa, unsur dinamis dan upaya guru dalam faktor ekstrinsik,
sedangkan dalam faktor intrinsic terdapat aspek cita-cita dan aspirasi siswa,
kemampuan siswa, dan kondisi siswa. Dengan melihat hasil dari penelitiaan, dapat
disimpulkan bahwa terdapat dua faktor yang mempengaruhi motivasi siswa dalam
belajar bahasa inggris yaitu faktor ekstrinsik dan faktor ekstrinsik dimana kedua
faktor tersebut masing-masing memiliki tiga aspek. Tetapi, dari semua aspek
tersebut terdapat tiga aspek yang menunjukkan sangat kuatnya pengaruh yang
diberikan terhadap motivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa inggris, yaitu aspek unsur
dinamis, upaya guru dan aspek cita-cita aspirasi siswa.

This research is as a graduation requirement for a graduate degree of
education in the college of English Education Study Program, Department of
Language and Art Education, STKIP Muhammadiyah Kotabumi Lampung. This
research takes patience, thoroughness, hard work and support from other parties.
In addition, the limited ability of the researcher to make researcher need assistance
and guidance from the various parties. Therefore, the researcher would like to
thank Rulik Setiani, S.S, M.Pd. as first advisor and Elis Susanti S.Pd., M.Pd. as
the second advisor who have been patiently and carefully guide, nurture, and
provides guidance to the researcher. They were the supervisor who were both
influential in the preparation of this research.
Next, great thanks would also due to Dr. Sumarno, M.Pd. the head of
STKIP Muhammadiyah Kotabumi North Lampung, without his invaluable help
and generous encouragement, the research paper would not have been
accomplished. The researcher says thank you to the management, lecturers
English Education Study Program, staff, and all of large family in STKIP
Muhammadiyah Kotabumi Lampung who have provided assistance, support and
