Profile
Dr. Hossam is an Associate Professor of Library and Information Science. He
obtained five academic degrees in Library and Information Sciences fields from The United
States of America and Egypt. He has a long experience in directing and supervising
Academic libraries in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as he was the university library supervisor in
Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University for 7 years and Library Director in Community College of
Qatar (January 2016- 2017).
He has over 20 years of experience in teaching, research and service at several
academic institutions in various countries, such as Egypt, United States of America, Qatar,
and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He received several honor certifications from various
academic institutions in various occasions.
Dr. Hossam has a wide range of Interests from basic theories to the practice of
implementing technologies in action. Beside teaching main courses in Library & Information
Science, he gives special considerations to the following topics: Library Administration and
Supervision, Library Management System (Symphony and Sierra - Innovative), Advertising
and marketing, Information seeking, Knowledge theories, Information laws, Communication

4) Service
* Ensure providing high quality services to library users, such as reading, circulation,
reference services, internet search, referral services, printing, etc;
* Ensure that physical facilities are properly maintained, such as photocopy machines,
computers, printers, internet access, etc;
* Supervising various cultural events and symposiums that of interest to Qatari
community;
* Represent the Library in professional and nonprofessional conferences;
* Supervising Qatar National Library registration process, guiding, training and
access;

* Ensure that the library’s users are aware of the capabilities of its technology-enabled
spaces and services;
* Collaborate with other managers and administrators in supporting the full range of
Commons services.
5) Administration
* Resolve complaints of users and staff;
* Supervising annual budget, for books purchase and distribute it among different
fields;
* Supervising annual budget, for newspapers and magazines;
* Perform purchasing functions of the Library;
* Dealing and communicating with various vendors;
* Determine staffing requirements and supervise the selection process, by meeting,
determining and selecting qualified candidates;
* Cooperating with different libraries in Qatar;
* Lead the overall management, and ensuring a professional approach across
campuses;
* Ensuring high quality, professional and user-focused library service and instruction
to the academic community;
* Make ongoing improvements to systems, processes, policies and procedures;
* Effectively manage libraries operations.

* Develop and implement library policies and procedures in line with common
strategic direction and vision of the institution;
