ANNUAL GENDER SENSITIZATION ACTION PLAN
The institute belonging to one of the oldest women’s education society already has a practice of
bringing an attitudinal and a constructive change in the society towards women and thereby focuses
on equity within the institute and in the community outreach programmes. The Objective of the
activities and programmes is promotion of inclusiveness, tolerance, harmony and women’s
empowerment among the students and staff.
The action plan for gender sensitization comprised of conducting activities targeted to :
1) Increase awareness and empowerment of women
2) Augmenting on campus safety facilities and health facilities.
1) Targeted Activities : Increase awareness and empowerment
An active Women Studies Centre in the institute conducts programme on sensitizing students on
issues, laws and redressal systems on Sexual Harassment also the Centre celebrated International
Women’s Day. It also had on its anvil a soft skills Certificate courses taken up in 2021, and in the
preceding four years lectures and workshops designed to address current concerns regarding gender
were planned some of them are notably on topics Gender Discrimination, Workplace Dynamics ,
Communication, work-life balance , Self-Esteem, Fear Management, stress management , Women in
Leadership, Assertive Skills and Conflict Management, career counselling workshops, Personality
development workshops, lectures and opportunities to participate in tournaments, debates and many
other extracurricular activities at all levels.
In addition to the Women’s study centre and the NSS Units I and II the college has in place cells and
committees which regularly undertake programmes on gender sensitization and welfare of its
stakeholders viz. Guidance and Counselling Cell (Samadhan), Community Welfare Projects
Committee (S.E.W.A.), Mentor Scheme for students , Students Quality Assurance Cell (SQAC),
Entrepreneurship Development Cell , “Utkarsha Jeevan Nirwah Upakrama” Short Term Courses
Cell, Equal Opportunity Cell , Health Awareness Cell, Human rights Cell, Jagruti Cell & Bulandi
cell, Grievances Redressal Committee , Discipline and Antiragging Committee , Training &

The activities which are planned and undertaken every year are always targeted and revolve
around Women centric topics. In contemporary society women are multitasking at home and work
which is leading to complexities such as lifestyle changes, stress and health related disorders.
Thus Gender Discrimination, Workplace Dynamics , Communication, work-life balance , Self-
Esteem, Fear Management, stress management , Women in Leadership, Assertive Skills and Conflict
Management, career counselling workshops, Personality development workshops, lectures and
opportunities to participate in tournaments, debates and many other extracurricular activities at all
levels. cancer awareness, health awareness , mindfulness, nutrition , Self-defence
,entrepreneurship and professional development , Cyber security, financial investments
programmes on balanced diet, health awareness are especially targeted etc.
2) Facilities augmented: Augmenting safety facilities and health facilities as mentioned herein.
The institute also had planned a safer and better campus as under:
1. Security guards and surveillance system which round the clock monitoring the entry and exit
to both campuses of the college.
2. Firefighting systems have been installed in both campuses.
3. Sanitary napkin vending machines at both Campuses.
4. On campus availability of doctor for health issues as well as psychological problems of
students. This facility is also made available in the Girls hostel located in the college premises.
5. A Sports and yoga facilities for holistic development.

BRIEF REPORTS OF FEW ACTIVITIES
( Academic Year 2016- 2017 )
Sustainability Workshop:
A two day workshop on Sustainability was held for the students of BID part III on 10th and
11August 2016 at the department of interior design. The principal coordinator of the workshop
was Mrs. Sangeeta Kapoor ,an eminent interior designer from Kolkata working for sensitizing
sustainability .50 students and above of interior design program participated in the workshop.
The workshop was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp and saraswati vandana. The first day
of the workshop was conducted by Mrs. Sangeeta Kapoor who introduced the students to what
is sustainability, carbon footprint and frequently used terminologies. She also gave the latest
update regarding green buildings and its importance. The second session had Dr.Saravanan , a
senior scientist from NEERI, Nagpur who spoke about embodied energy and the concept of
efficiency.
The session was followed by a short film showcasing the efforts of Bhutan towards
sustainability. The second day had interaction sessions on life cycle thinking where the
concept of cradle to cradle and cradle to grave was emphasized. The day also had informative
sessions by Saint Gobain and Asian Paints wherein they brought to light their efforts towards
sustainability and displayed their product range. Asian Paints also conducted an interesting
demonstration where the students had hands on experience with texture paint techniques. They
created various patterns using different tools and techniques. The students and the staff
actively participated in the sessions.
LECTURE : GENDER SENSITIZATION and FRIDAY FEMINIST FORUM
Celebrated Women’s Day by organizing Program ‘Down the Memory Lane’ in collaboration
with Alumni Association. 25 students participated in certificate course of Gender
Sensitization wherein Ms.Maitreyi Kale gave her inputs.
The Centre conducted Gender Sensitization from 22nd to 29th August for Marathi medium of
the Faculty of Arts and also Seminary Hills Campus. ‘Friday Feminist Forum’, a platform for
students to discuss various gender related issues.
HMCT: In collaboration with the WSRDC, gender sensitization programmes are conducted.
Mrs. Maitreyi Kale conducted programs for Final year students: Pre and post marital
counseling ‘Right after Marriage’ and for First year students, ‘Understanding the Psychology
of Adolescent Girls’
The regular open sessions on Friday Feminist Forum saw students interacting on issues like
body shaming, domestic violence, menstrual taboos at home, ideas of female beauty etc. The
topics were chosen by the students and saw active participation from the students. Posters and
wall magazine articles on gender issues are put up periodically by various departments.

REPORT ON WORKSHOP ON PROFESSIONAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Workshop on professional skill development in Electronics- Express PCB software. Training
on Importing GPS (Garmin) Data in QGIS Software was organized. add on Course in MATLAB
and LABVIEW.
Department of Cosmetic Technology conducted a programme on introduction to American
Library : Resources by the American Library team, Mumbai for staff and students of
department to promote research.
Stem cell technology, a guest lecture was organised by Biotechnology department under the
forum of GENETIX society.
MoU with TiE-WE to facilitate start-ups by students, TCS-CSR, ASTRAL Infomatics
Students PARTICIPATED in Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan activity and VIII class students of
adopted school were trained in Science model and poster making
REPORT ON SENSITIZATION ISSUES, LAWS AND REDRESSAL SYSTEMS ON SEXUAL
HARASSMENT:
Women Studies Centre conducted a programme on sensitizing students on issues, laws and
redressal systems on Sexual Harassment on 17 February 2017. This was followed by the
Installation of the ICC (Internal Complaints Committee). 548 students attended the
program.
Impact of Demonetization on Indian Economy
The Department of Economics of L.A.D & S.R.P College, Nagpur organized a one day workshop
on "Impact of Demonetization on Indian Economy" on 27th
February 2017.The event was
inaugurated by the Head of the Department Dr.Pushpa Udasi & other faculty members of the
Department. The resource person who graced the occasion was Dr.Krunal Parekh, Assistant
Professor, Dutta Megha Institute of Management Studies, Nagpur. He delivered lecture on
"Positive and Negative impact of Demonetization on Indian Economy and also discussed about
various parameters which are responsible for the development of our Economy "The welcome
speech and vote of thanks were presented by Dr.Rosalin Mishra .All the members of the
Department worked hard to make the programme successful.
Intercollegiate Debate Competition 15 October 2016:
The Department of Sociology and NSS Unit I of L.A.D.& S. R. P. College had organized an
Intercollegiate Debate Competition on “For sound and healthy politics in a democratic set up,
youth must exercise their right to vote” recently under the guidance of Principal Dr. Shyamala
Nair ,Vice Principals Dr. Bhanumati Malewar and Prof. Harsha Jharia. Adv.Deoul Pathak,
Nagpur was the Chief Guest. Dr. Mohan Nagrale, Head, Department of Sociology R.S.Mundle

programme was anchored by Prof. Maya Meshram. The debate received an overwhelming
response by the students and participants.
Department of Economics Report on Industrial visit to M/S De Quench
Department of Economics L.A.D and S.R.P College organized an Industrial tour to M/S De Quench
water plant on 9th
January 2017 for the departmental students. The main objective of the tour was to
give practical knowledge about the working of Industries. Students were got to know about the
arrangement and location of production machinery, work centers and auxiliary facilities and activities
like handling of material storage and shipping for the purpose of achieving efficiency in
manufacturing mineral waters of de-quench company. Students were explained about the orderly
arrangement of the plant and equipment for the purpose of securing continuous flow of the required
quantity and quality of mineral waters. Overall the visit was very informative, interesting and
successful one.

TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, hold a cake fair every year to put into
practice the bakery skills acquired by the students. This event is organized by the third year students
of the HMCT. The Cake Fair not only helps in bringing out the bakery skills of the students but also
empowers the students to use their managerial skills in various aspects such as costing, budgeting,
marketing, public relation etc.
The event is held around Christmas Season every year and sale of bakery items prepared by the
students is sold across the counter to the visiting people. The students add up new dishes to each cake
fair which are trending in that period like red velvet cake. Along with the bakery products few savory
items are also prepare by the students. This event is deferent from the food festival as the preparation
of item are as per the orders given by the guest at that point of time.
This event brings out the bakery skills of the students and to serve as per the demands of the visiting
clientele. This is like an actual restaurant operation. This requires presence of mind to face the crises

situation that arise. This event is unique by itself and has become much awaited event for the city of
Nagpur.
The cake fair organized:- is ‘Budding Bakers’ (2016)
The Department of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, L.A.D. & Smt. R.P. College for
Women, Nagpur organized a Cake Fair ‘Spectrum’ at Seminary Hills Campus, on the 21st
and 22nd
December 2016. The department organizes the cake fair every year as a part of, and beyond the
Curriculum for Hotel Management and Catering Technology. The Cake Fair not only helps in
bringing out the bakery skills of the students but also empowers the students to use their managerial
skills in various aspects such as costing, budgeting, marketing, public relation etc. The fair included
delicacies like several varieties of Cakes, Pizza, Garlic bread, Subwiches, Muffins, Envelopes,
Doughnuts.
The event was inaugurated by the Director of Food and Beverage for Hotel Radisson Blu Nagpur
Chef Vikas Pal. The eminent personalities Dr. Panna Akhani, Director of Women’s Education
Society, Dr. Shyamala Nair, L.A.D. & Smt. R.P. College for Women, Nagpur. Mr. Naresh Duggal,
Manager of Haldiram’s visited the Cake fair. Chef Utpal from Rich’s also came for an icing
demonstration for students during the Cake fair.

REPORT OF ANNUAL FOOD FESTIVAL “MEXICAN FOOD FESTIVAL”
The Department of Hotel Management organized annual food festival every year to give opportunity
to the students a platform to showcase their skill developed throughout the four year degree program
of Hotel Management. This event gives them a platform to exhibit their entrepreneurial skills, right
from the selection of theme to the final critical analyses of the event.
The students start the event by selection of theme, organizing the operational activities like planning
of staff, activities budgeting sales and marketing and post event reports. Every year the students select
the theme to execute the event. The following food festival is held 2017 Mexican Street :
The Department of Hotel Management has once again organized its annual food festival on 18th
December, 2016; with a Mexican theme this time. The food festival is a part of the Curriculum of
IVth year students of B.H.M.C.T. course. It has given the students an opportunity to exhibit their
entrepreneurial skills. The students handled various aspects of the event like production, budgeting,
sales etc.
The event, “Mexican Street” have students offering goodies fresh from the kitchen; with a
chance for all the Mexican Cuisine lovers to have some fun. A cornucopia of mouth-watering
classics like Tacos, Nachos, Burritos, to whet up the appetite; Tomato soup with cheese balls,
Meat Balls, Mole Pablano De Pollo(Chicken), Mexican Green Rice, Arroz Blanco(Rice with
Veggies), En Salad, Tortillas, Corn Fritters and delicious Mexican Cinnamon Brownie with

The Women’s Studies Research Development Centre of the College conducted the following
Adhyayan Incentive Marks Scheme
for the year 2016-17. The exam was conducted at Guru Nanak Bhavan on 7th February 2017.
A programme on sensitising students on issues, laws and redressal systems on Sexual
Harassment on 17th February 2017. This was followed by the Installation of the ICC
(Internal Complaints Committee (Grievance redressal)). The College is publicly committed
to a zero tolerance policy towards sexual harassment and in compliance with the directive of
the Maharashtra State Commission for Women constituted the ICC Complaints Committee.
548 students attended the programme.
HMCT: In collaboration with the WSRDC, gender sensitization programmes are conducted.

REPORT ON LECTURE “HAPPY TO BLEED “
Lecture By Dr Dilip Peshwe Was Organized On 6 March 2017 By Women’s Study Cell On
6th March, 2018 the Centre celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing a day long
colloquium on menstrual issues titled, “Happy to Bleed: Testimonies of Blood”. There was
an interactive students workshop in the afternoon conducted by student activist Nikita Azad
from Patiala University who had spearheaded a virtual movement titled ‘Happy to Bleed’.
Panel discussion involved speaking on cultural taboos.

REPORTS OF ACTIVITIES ( Academic Year 2017- 2018 )
Workshops and seminars are conducted for career guidance regularly. This year:-
Seminar on “Interview ready skills and Aptitude Test” conducted by Vikalp Education
Institute. Facilitators were Mr. Rishi Chourasia and Mr. Ashwin Tirode.
Seminar on ‘Digital Transformation and New Age Careers’ conducted by NIIT. Seminar was
conducted by Mr. Amogh Chitnis. Seminar focuses on digitalization of banks, businesses, etc.
This era is of net banking, net marketing and students have opportunities to start own business
through net marketing like Uber, Amazon, etc.
Seminar on ‘Careers in Commerce’, conducted by NIIT, for opportunities available for
computer educated students, facilitator was Mr. Nilesh Lolusare. An Aptitude Test was
conducted for students to know their interest in Commerce field.
Department of Biochemistry: Educational visits to reputed National Laboratories and premium
research institutes were arranged in order to inculcate research mindset in UG students.
Interactions with top scientists in the field motivates certain students to opt for research later.
Department of Cosmetic Technology: A workshop on ‘Aptitude Test-Fast Calculation
Techniques’ and ‘Importance of Aptitude in different competitive Exams’ by Mr. Ankur
“Resume writing” by Anubhuti Ghosh on Saturday 22 July2017
Department of Marathi: A workshop on ‘Functional Marathi’ organized in September 2017 as
a career guidance initiative for training students for future careers in media, publishing,
advertising and government jobs.
Department of Sanskrit: A workshop on Spoken Sanskrit organized under career guidance
initiative.
Department of English: Performance Poetry was held on 19th September 2017 under the
SQAC ‘Cultural Katta’to give the students career guidance in the area of performance arts.
Mindtools initiative for Communication Skills, the Department held an 8 day
Communication Skill Workshop for BA I Hindi medium students in the first week of February
2017.The Department started a mentoring and handholding initiative for weaker students to
enhance and upgrade their performance in examinations, titled ‘Performance Enhancement
and Mentorship Programme’ (PEMP) under an innovation that was termed, “No Student Left
Behind”. This student counselling programme mentors and teaches students study techniques
and how to overcome examination performance anxieties. BA I Hindi and Marathi students
who had fared poorly in the first Semester were given intensive practice in examination
techniques in all aspects of the course. Specifically they were given mentorship in Grammar
and templates for Poetry, Short Stories were given. The programme extended from 15th April
to 21st April 2018.
Eight final year students from BA participated in the National Conference on Youth in Social
Change organised by Manipal University at Manipal, Karnataka from August 5th
and 6th
2017. Subsequently one participant Aishwarya Kayande applied and after a rigorous national
level selection process was awarded a 2 year fellowship from Teach for India.

Report of Modern and Digital Banking the Workshop held on 21st September 2017
The Department of Economics of L.A.D & S.R.P College, Nagpur organized a one day
workshop on "" on 21st September 2017.The event was inaugurated by the Vice Principal of
the college Mrs.Radhika Yelkawar and Head of the Department Dr.Pushpa J Udasi . The
resource persons who have graced the occasion were Mr.Ratnakar Sonkusre, Manager
Maharashtra Bank, Dharampeth Branch, Nagpur and Mr.Ashish Ratnaparkhi, Manager (IT)
Maharashtra Bank, Nagpur. They delivered lecture on importance, advantages and comfortable
features of Digital Banking and also discussed on various value added features of Digital
Banking such as online income tax filing, online bill payments, online transfer of funds,
Mobile Banking and use of ATM cards and Credit cards, Smart card .The welcome speech was
presented by Dr.Rosalin Mishra and Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr.Pushpa.J.Udasi.

The event is held around Christmas Season every year and sale of bakery items prepared by the
students is sold across the counter to the visiting people. The students add up new dishes to each cake
fair which are trending in that period like red velvet cake. Along with the bakery products few savory
items are also prepare by the students. This event is deferent from the food festival as the preparation
of item are as per the orders given by the guest at that point of time.
This event brings out the bakery skills of the students and to serve as per the demands of the visiting
clientele. This is like an actual restaurant operation. This requires presence of mind to face the crises
situation that arise. This event is unique by itself and has become much awaited event for the city of
Nagpur.

December, 2017; with a cocoa theme this time. The event, COCOA PARTY! The cake fair is a part of

exhibit their entrepreneurial skills. The students handled various aspects of the event like production,

March 2018 for the departmental students. The main objective of the visit was
to give practical knowledge about the working of Industries. Students were got to know about the
arrangement and location of production machineries, work centres and auxiliary facilities and
activities like handling of material storage and shipping for the purpose of achieving efficiency in
manufacturing industries. Students were also explained and displayed about the different methods
used in packaging Biscuits and distribution of Biscuits throughout the country by the company.
Students were explained about the orderly arrangement of the plant and equipment for the purpose of
securing continuous flow of the required quantity and quality of ingredients used in preparing

The department of hotel management organize annual food festival every year to give opportunity to
the students and a platform to showcase their skill developed throughout the four year degree
program of hotel management. the department of hotel management had once again organized its
annual food festival on 12th
january 2018; with a south indian theme- namely wadakkam dakshin
express (2018).
this event gave them a platform to exhibit their entrepreneurial skills, right from the selection of
theme to the final critical analyses of the event. every year the students select the theme to execute
the event. the students started the event by selection of theme, organizing the operational activities
like planning, budgeting sales and marketing and post event reports.
The event “wadakkam dakshin express” have students offering food items fresh from the Kitchen of
South India. Giving one and all a chance for a Culinary tour into South Indian Cuisine, with
entertainment. A cornucopia of mouth-watering classics like Chicken Chettinad, Hydrabadi Chicken
Biryani, Andhra Style Fish Curry, French Beans Porial, Vegetable Stew and delicious Kesari Rava,

DAKSHINAYAN ( A National Level Social Consciousness Organization ): VARTAMAN
SAMJUN GHETANA
The Students’ Quality Assurance Cell of our college organised a highly effective student interaction
with senior members of the socio-cultural intelligentsia of Maharashtra on 30 January 2018. Our
College was among the 22 colleges in Nagpur chosen to be a part of a pan-Indian movement for social
awakening called ‘Dakshinayan’, raising awareness among citizens on various current social issues.
Dakshinayana is a social movement, which has brought together intellectuals, social workers,
educationists, journalists, artists, writers, and social thinkers of our nation on a common platform.
This year, Dakshinayana was held on 29th and 30th January 2018 in both Sewagram as well as
Nagpur, in various NGOs and educational institutions. The theme for this year’s awareness building
is “Satya-Ahinsa Se Samvidhan Tak”. Rajmohan Gandhi, Prakash Ambedkar, Dr. Ganesh Devy are
among the stalwarts who are spearheading this movement. Number of participant students was 350.
The college hosted an interactive session for students, with six intellectuals /social thinkers as part of
our collaboration with Dakshinayan. The eminent intellectuals and social activists who interacted with
our students and teachers were: Ms. Vidya Bal, Pune, Smt. Vijaya Chauhan, Mumbai, Shri Suresh
Sawant, Mumbai, Shri Vasant Ekbote, Nashik, and Mrs. Sharada Sathe, Mumbai. The topic for the
interaction was “Understanding Our Present” – Vartamaan Samjun Ghetana”. It was a very lively as
well as serious discussion on various current topics such as reservations, rape, violence against

An interdisciplinary research based brainstorming activity called ‘Manthan’ was initiated and
introduced in 26th March, 2018 to 4th April 2018 . The sessions were held under the aegis of Research
Development Cell and Research Centers of the College. The main objective was inculcation of spirit
of openness in research and thereby to enhance and promote research and research competencies of the
members and develop a culture of research in an atmosphere of mutual sharing of ideas and abilities.

The first speaker was Ms Chandini Sahu,a grooming and hair stylist expert who is a recent cancer
survivor. In her description of her journey she emphasized the role stress had had in her succumbing
to cancer and the proactive role of her family, diet and nutrition played in her slow and complete
recovery. Bhakti Ghatole , our next participant , in a very moving address, spoke of her blindness due
to cancer and repeated remissions of the disease. A brilliant student of our college with a number of
academic achievements she has currently got admission in MA in Counseling Psychology in TISS,
Mumbai. Dr. Nirmala Vaze, a gynecologist at Sankalp Hospital spoke of her journey from a diagnosis
of breast cancer at a very young age to her present active role as a cancer counselor. Dr.Meena
Mishra, a single mother, spoke of the positivity with which she faced her disease so as to be a role
model for her dyslexic daughter while Dr. Yasmin Alsi, a consultant oncologist herself spoke of the
comfort level her patients felt when they realized she also had cancer. Dr. Meenashi Kulkarni,
Assistant Professor in the department of English in our college spoke of her experience with breast
cancer and thanked her doctors and many mentors for her recovery.
The programme was attended by the Pricipal Dr. Deepali Kotwal, Vice Principal Radhika Yelkawar
and faculty members, students of both college campus. It was compeered by Niharika Sakhare, BAI.

Report of cake fiesta
The Department of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, L.A.D. & Smt. R.P. College for
Women, Nagpur is organizing a ‘Cake Fiesta’ at Seminary Hills Campus, on the 13 and 14 January
2020. The department organizes the cake fair every year as a part of the Curriculum for Hotel
Management and Catering Technology. The Cake Fair not only helps in bringing out the bakery skills
of the students but also empowers the students to use their managerial skills in various aspects such as
costing, budgeting, marketing, public relation etc. The fair included delicacies like several varieties of
Cakes, Cup Cakes, Tart, Pasta, Kathi Roll, Brownies, Pizza, Garlic bread, Doughnuts. This time
Apple Cinnamon Upside Down Cake and Chocolate Tart were new products that were tried and gain
lot of popularity amongst the visitors.As an activity of and by the students, they are empowered

The students of BA Semester III, Marathi Medium in their subject Compulsory English studied 2
poems, The Solitary Reaper by William Wordsworth and The Psalm of Life by H. W. Longfellow
as an integral part of their syllabus. It was during the teaching of the poems , the subject teacher
screened the YouTube Videos on Sickle Cell Awareness and Emotional Hygiene keeping in view the
Health Literacy Year that the College is observing for the year 2019- 2020.

and the poem mentioned, nevertheless, since the teaching was done with support to ICT, the teacher
mentioned about the shape of the tool that was instrumental in letting the name of the disease acquire
the name. As it is often observed that the regional class students in the Vidarbha region generally are
Sickle Cell sufferers, the students along with their teacher grew curious to know and learn more about
the disease. The screening was done followed by general discussion on students’ experience of the
disease and certain precautionary measures that need to be taken.

theme of the poem dealt with self-controlled emotional therapeutic solutions. Believing in oneself, the
essence of pure mind, humility, valuing self and the entire environment, etc. that is responsible to
attain happiness was dealt in the post poem discussions. The students expressed themselves pertaining
to different challenges they face or have faced and how they could try to overcome the adverse
challenges. The poem provided a philosophical fervour during the entire course of its discussion and
parallel screening of the videos on Emotional Hygiene.

Manthan, May 2020 First Online Manthan Presentation held on 27th May 2020
The First Online Manthan Presentations were held on 27th May 2020 from 11:30 to 12:30. The entire LAD
Clan logged into the Webex Platform that was flawlessly handled by Dr. Archana Masram and Dr. Shreeja
Kurup. The Session began with the introductory remarks by the host, Nidhee Meshram, a member of Manthan
Team. Dr. Deepali Kotwal, Principal motivated the Team and Presenters by acknowledging the fruitful research
oriented activity that Manthan has been able to uphold successfully for more than a decade under the aegis of
the Research and Development Cell of the College. Dr. Kotwal emphasised the importance of Manthan
towards the development of research in varied fields, the interdisciplinary approach that the teachers and young
upcoming scholars have undertaken with keen interest that ultimately contributes towards the society at large.
All the three presenters of the first online venture of LAD are alumni of the College and taught for the session
2019- 2020 in the Faculty of Humanities. The first presenter of the online session was Neha Thosar- Joglekar
from the Department of English who made an innovative contemporary and comparative narration attempt to
showcase her analytical study of epics and modern epic fantasy novel through her research paper titled “Queen
or Pawn: The Portrayal of Women in the Indian Epics and A Song of Ice and Fire". Dr. Mrudula Kale from
the Department of Sanskrit was the second presenter who presented a bilingual paper based on Marathi and
Sanskrit drama as a genre. The paper, “मराठीसंगीतसौभद्रआणिसंस्कृतसौभद्रम - णिवडकपदांचेअवलोकि” had her recite
a few verses in both the languages that made her presentation extraordinary. Dr. Minakshi Bhoyar from the
Department of Marathi was the third presenter whose presentation was centred on the feminist approach of the
renowned Marathi activist Tarabai Shinde. Dr. Bhoyar titled her paper as
“ताराबाईश ंदेयांचेस्त्रीवादीणवचार”thatinstantaneously caught the pulse of the attendees. At the end of the
presentations there was a brainstorming question and answer round wherein the presenters and participants
elevated the Manthan session into a memorable stepping stone in the virtual arena. The Vice Principals from
Senior and Junior College, Mrs. Radhika Yelkawar and Mrs. Rita Agnihotri along with the IQAC Coordinator,
Dr. Pooja Pathak , IQAC Co-Coordinator, Dr. Sridevi Darisi and Faculty Supervisors, Dr. Durgeshnandini
Titarmare, Dr. Chitra Lade and Dr. Asha Tiwari of Humanities, Science and Technology and Commerce and
Management respectively encouraged the Manthan Team and presenters with their presence. Dr. Shilpa Sarode,
member of the Manthan Team coordinated with the technical team and presenters for the successful
organisation of the digital session.
Manthan plans few more sessions during the ongoing Covid19 lockdown times, wherein presenters from
outside College will also make their presentation.

Compere, Dr. Vathsala Shrinivas, Co- convener, Health Literacy Year acquainted the gathering about
the motive behind conducting the Symposium and focusing on the aspect of Sports Nutrition in
today’s times of challenging lifestyle. Through her script, Dr. Shrinivas explained the role of the
collaborators. Dr. Ramana, Scientist F and Head, Dept. of Work Physiology and Sports Nutrition and
MYAS- NIN, Dept. of Sports Science, ICMR- National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad delivered
the keynote address. Focusing on the title of the Symposium, Dr. Ramana stressed the need to make
us all understand the importance of proper and healthy nutrition not only for sportspersons but for all
in general. In the Plenary Session, two talks were delivered by Dr. Priti Rishi Lal, Scientist E and Dr.
Kommi Kalpana, Scientist D with specialisation on Sports Nutrition, MYAS- NIN, Dept. of Sports
Science, ICMR- National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad. Their papers further elaborated and
emphasised on the essentials of nutrition for the overall development of the sportpersons and
discipline that can bring success in varied sports and good health of the athletes. Prof. Dr. Sabiha
Vali,Former HOD PGTD Home Science, and currently a Research Counsellor for MSc. (DFSM),
IGNOU and Dr. Kavita Bakshi, renowned Diabetes Educator and Nutrigenomic Counselor Chaired
the Plenary Session by providing their valuable inputs.

Post lunch a Panel Discussion on the topic Nurturing a Child Athlete- the Role of Coach, Trainer,
Nutritionist, Sports Medicine Doctor and Psychologist was held where the three Hyderabad scientists
were joined by local specialists Dr. Shailesh Pangoankar (Sports Psychologist) and Dr. Ashish
Agrawal (Sports Physiologist) who collectively reiterated that change in food habits and parenting
plays a crucial role in sports grooming and showed concern about the growing trend today regarding
junk food as this diet aggravates anxiety levels and enlightened the delegates about the significance of
hydration to keep health secure. Dr. Jayashree Pendharkar, famous Dietician of the city Chaired the
Panel Discussion and suggested that a National Nutrition Council should be established and further
stressed about the importance of a Nutritionist to be included as a regular feature along with
Physiotherapists and Psychologists with Sportspersons.

Highlight of the Symposium was when Dr. Sadhana Deshmukh, Associate Professor, LAD College
introduced the LAD students who Internationally represented India in various sports events and
were felicitated at the hands of the invited guests. Earlier the event marked its opening by the
lightning of the traditional lamp and rendition of Saraswati Vandana by Vedika Nair and Radhika
Thengdi. Dr. D. Titarmare, Convener, Symposium along with her team worked hard for the success of
the event and Dr. Renuka Mainde, Secretary,NSI, Nagpur Chapter, facilitated wholeheartedly in the
conduct of the joint programme. The Vice- Principals , Mrs. Radhika Yelkawar and Mrs. Kalpana
Dhawad were also present throughout the Symposium which was very well attended by all sections of
society.
REPORT ON PROTECTION OF WOMEN’S RIGHT AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE
LIGHT OF RECENT RAPE CASES’,
Women’s Studies Centre of LAD & Smt. R.P. College for Women organized a guest lecture on the
occasion of International Women’s Day on 7th
March 2020 in Conference Hall at 10.30 a.m. The
lecture was organized on the topic ‘Protection of Women’s Right and Sexual Harassment in the Light
of Recent Rape Cases’, Dr. Sona Kumar, Head of the Department of G.H. Raisoni for UG & PG Law
Saikheda was the resource person. A shortfilm ‘Devi’ trending on YouTube was screened before the
lecture in order to throw light on the plight of rape victim. In her speech Dr. Kumar stressed that
women should be aware of the various forms of securities provided by the government and they
should also be aware of their rights inroder to avoid being victim of sexual harassment. She made
audience aware of the various laws and facilities provided by government for the safety of women.

Organised the International Women’s Day in collaboration with the Alumnae Association of the
College on 8 March 2021 at 2:30 p.m. online on Google Meet. This year’s theme was A Journey
Towards Excellence. Principal Dr. Deepali Kotwal, who is the alumna of the College and President
of the Alumnae Association, shared her feelings on the occasion with the college students and invited
and welcomed the prestigious alumnae. Ms. Arundhati Pantawane, International Badminton Player,
Ms. Nidhi Agrawal, Marico Industries and Ms. Shrinidhi Ghatate, Famous Singer and distinguished
alumnae of the College were invited as Guest Speakers at the occasion. The speakers at length spoke
about their journey towards attaining their goals and how the College was instrumental in boosting not
only their aims but as responsible citizens at the same time. They emphasised on the importance of
fulfilling academic endeavours as it helps to mature and set forth goals systematically. Present at the
occasion were the Vice–Principals, Mrs. RadhikaYelkawar and Dr. Pooja Pathak, Supervisors Dr.

The Pink Month is a month where efforts to educate those concerned about the disease, including
early identification and signs and symptoms associated In a global effort to raise awareness on
breast cancer, October has been designated as the Pink Month. In this regard the Department of
Zoology had organized a guest lecture on “Breast Cancer Awareness” by a renowned
Gynecologist, Dr. Rakhi Gajbhiye, Director, Mauli Clinic, Nagpur at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 20
October, 2020. This programme was exclusively for B.Sc. Semester III & V students and all
teaching faculty of our college. Total 110 Participants including students, teachers of both the

At the onset of the programme, Dr. Archana Masram, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Zoology,
introduced the theme and the Guest speaker of the programme and requested respected Principal
to address the gathering. Dr. Deepali Kotwal, Principal of the college addressed the gathering. In
her address she mentioned the significance of such programmes for the overall development of the
students and particularly about the health issues. After the inspiring words of Dr. Kotwal, Dr.
Rakhi Gajbhiye, the Resource person started her deliberation. She explained the topic very
elaborately, her talk was very intelligible and informative. The objective of this programme was
the maximum participants should get benefited in terms of their health particularly in this regard.

Report on Three Day Paper Presentation Series on ‘Macbeth’
17th to 19th May 2021
A three day online Paper Presentation series from 17th to 19th May 2021was organised by Mindtools,
a Department of English initiative in collaboration with Manthan, an interdisciplinary platform
established under the aegis of the Research and Development Cell of the College from 4pm to 5pm.
The presentations were made on Google platform by the B.A. Semester VI, English Literature
students on a variety of topics of their choice on the drama ‘Macbeth’ that is prescribed in the Even
Semester by the R.T.M.N.U. Nagpur University, Nagpur.
The Aim of the Paper Presentation series was to provide a chance to the students of English Literature
to hold a discussion on syllabus based component and enable them to express their point- of- view
regarding the entire setting of the drama ‘Macbeth’. Similarly, the Objectives of the series was to
provide an opportunity to the students of Literature and to accredit them to express their thoughts and
perceptions about the drama in their own unique way of understanding.

Expecting the Outcomes of inducing inclination towards research, re-establishing reading and writing
habits amongst students, the expectation was to also inculcate the practice of using resources to
support their research and acknowledge the sources they have employed and dissuade plagiarism.
Ten students made their Paper Presentations in this series and Chairpersons were invited for each
session to familiarize students of professionalism in their last Semester of under- graduation.
On Day One, the 17th of May 2021,
• Shrinidhi Darbhe made her presentation on , ‘Macbeth as a Swirling Concoction of Loyalties
and Dissonance’,
• Arushi Chakravarthy on ‘The Theme of Fate and Free Will in Macbeht’,
• Sanjana Mankar presented her paper on ‘Macbeth's Lust for Power’ and
• Aditi Raut discussed about ‘Significance of Macbeth’s Ending’.
Dr. Rashmi Tikku, former Head, Department of English of the College was the Chairperson who
discussed at length the presentations made by each Student. She talked about the play being discussed
and considered a bad omen; but still generates to thrill the audience and readers alike regarding its plot
and the sensitivity of the protagonist as an epitome of human quality.
On Day Two, the 18th of May 2021 of the Paper Presentation,
Aishwarya Sheorain expressed her views on ‘Thunder and Lightning, Enter the Three
Witches’,
Savy Sadhu elaborated on the ‘Fate of Vile : Dark sides of Lady Macbeth’,
Gaurangi Jaiswal spoke on the ‘Theme of Deception in the Play Macbeth’ and
Afreen Sadaf reflected her thoughts on ‘Macbeth's Hamartia’.

Prof. Dr. Subhashree Mukherji, an English Faculty from Kamla Nehru Mahavidyalaya, Chaired the
second session. She put forth her thoughts to enhance professional skills through such presentations
with appropriate body language and voice modulation. Prof. Mukherji further emphasised upon the
development of Presentation Skills that would naturally retain the attention of audience throughout.
Third Day of the Paper Presentations on 19th of May 2021 had – Krupa Zade discussing her point-
of- view on ‘Prophesies in the play Macbeth and How it Influenced Macbeth’ and
Surabhi Gupta spoke on ‘How the Evil Overpowers Virtue in the Play Macbeth’,
Mrs. Aditi Sahasrabhojanee, Part time Lecturer, Oxford College of Arts, Bangalore the Chairperson of
this session interacted with the paper presenters through a highly interactive question and answer
round to reassure them with their first attempt of presenting research papers. The Chairpersons
appreciated all the Paper Presenters and their choice of topics that they surfaced their deliberations
upon. A feedback form was provided to the Paper Presenters to learn about their overall experience of
presentations. This was for the first time that Manthan extended its platform for students to encourage
research orientation amongst them. This Paper Presentation series was possible owing to the
encouragement and motivation provided by Dr. Deepali Kotwal, the Principal of the College and
support extended by Dr. Ruta Dharmadhikari, the Head, Department of English. Dr. Shilpa Sarode
helped for the conduct of this Paper Presentation series. All the faculty members of the Department of

competition on "New Farming Bill" on 5th
November 2020.The event was inaugurated by the Head
of the Department Dr. Rosalin Mishra. The competition was judged by Dr. Manish Vyas, Assistant
Professor, Department of Commerce, V.M.V College, Nagpur. Total 25 students participated in the
competition.The best group prize was won by Ms. Oshin Wasnik, Ms. Aarti Kamble, Ms. Gouri
Thakre, Ms .Shriuti Gawai .The first individual prize was won by Soniya Gangawani, Second

Second Online Manthan Presentation held on 8th June 2020
The 2nd online Manthan presentations were held on 8th June 2020 from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Dr.
Vathsala Shrinivas and Dr. Laila Bharaiya made presentations based on their Doctoral research in the
fields of Science and Technology and Commerce and Management, respectively. The topic of Dr.
Vathsala Shrinivas was “An Assessment of Spatial Parameters in Learning Spaces for Secondary
Schools to Improve the Performance of the User” where she dealt with practical solutions and findings
dealing with the level of illumination, proper furniture design and distance from teacher that affects
the performance of the learner.
The second presentation was made by Dr. Laila Bhairaiya on the “Comparative Analysis of Trends
and Development of Bancassurance in Public Sector and Private Sector Banks (With Special
Reference to Nagpur District)”. Her Major Findings were that Private Sector Banks are handling
Bancassurance in a better way than Public Sector Banks and overall satisfaction level of Policyholders
is higher in Private Sector Banks than in Public Sector Banks.
Both the research studies showcased in- depth and elaborate research methodology. The presentations
were followed by question answer round wherein extensive discussions took place between the
presenters and participants, thus making the second session of Manthan presentations vibrant and
academic oriented.

REPORT ON 'DIGITAL STREE SHAKTI’
Women Studies Centre of LAD & Smt. R.P. College for Women in collaboration with Maharashtra
State Women Commission organized one day webinar on the topic ‘Digital Stree Shakti’ on 1st
October ’20. The webinar was organized to digitally sensitized the girls students and make them
aware of the new trends in cyber-crime. Ms. Sonali Patankar founder of the NGO Responsible
Netism also President of Ahaan Foundation and Mr. Unmesh Joshi co- founder of Responsible
Netism, a Cyber Law specialist was the resource person. Total 86 students participated in the webinar,
Principal Dr. Deepali Kotwal and Supervisor of the Humanities Dr. Nanda Titarmare attended the
webinar. Dr. Shilpa Sarode was the convener of the webinar and Ms. Nidhee Meshram helped for the
successful organization of the webinar.
