COLLEGE DAY REPORT

2017 - 2018

Good Evening

Warm greetings to every one of you present here for the 53rd College Day Celebrations.

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College had its humble beginning in 1964,

founded by the Sri Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha with the objective of imparting education

and empowering the youth. The college, over the five decades, has recorded phenomenal growth

in terms of infrastructure, introduction of innovative, job-oriented courses. I wish to state that

ever since the college became autonomous the curriculum has been periodically redesigned

and restructured to cater to the changing needs and requirements of the student community.

I wish to express my sincere thanks to the staff members both teaching and non-

teaching for their whole-hearted support. It is only through their concerted efforts that today,

this institution, stands as an epitome of knowledge in Chennai, offering 59 different courses

at the undergraduate, post graduate and research levels with a whopping number of 8,000

students.

The lush green campus has undergone a major facelift this academic year. The Visual

Communication department moved from Goverdhan Block to Ganga Block with state-of-the-art

facilities. The foundation language departments and B.A. English and Tamizh have moved to

Bhasha Sangam (the old admin block) after the renovation of the block. All the auditoriums

in the college have been renovated.

The AICTE core team visited the MBA block for inspection to grant continuation of

affiliation. VAISHNAV BAZAAR, first of its kind was held in the campus. The bazaar had a total of

100 stalls and the products on sale were made by the students showcasing their entrepreneurial

skills. This academic year 2017-18, we are extremely happy to highlight the significant achievements

before this august assembly:
