Minutes of the Academic Council Meeting held on 04.05.2016 Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan., the Principal and Chairman of the Academic Council
welcomed the members, introduced the new members to the Academic Council and
highlighted the contents of the minutes of the various Board of Studies.

On the basis of recommendations given by Board of Studies in Tamil
Dr.C.Viswanthan moved that a. the revised syllabi of Part I Tamil courses 1I, I1I & IV for the
students admited during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the
same be approved.
b. there is no change in the existing syllabi of Part - I Tamil course I and
Part IV Basic Tamil courses I and II for the students admitted during the academic year 2014-2015 onwards and the same be approved.

On the basis of recommendations given by Board of Studies in English Literature Dr. R. Chandrasekar moved that
a. the revised syllabi of Part II English courses I, II, III and IV for the students admitted during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be approved.
b. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of Part II English courses Ill and IV for the students admitted during the academic year 2014-2015 onwards and the same be approved.
C. the revised syllabi and scheme of examination of semesters 1 to VI of B.A
English Literature programme for the students admitted during the academic
year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be approved.

d. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of
semesters 1ll to VI of B.A English Literature programme for the students
admitted during the academic year 2014-2015 onwards and the same be
approved.
e.there is no change in the cxisting syllabi and scheme of examinations
of NME 1&2, Grammar and communication, Communicative English
and Certificate Course in Communicative English, Social History of
England, History of English Language. Travel Writing and Practice
and classics in Translation for the students admitted during the academic
year 2014-2015 onwards and the same be approved.

Sri.R.Somasundram asked about the changes.
Dr. R. Chandrasekar replied that changes are around 80%.

Dr. C. Vellaichamy moved that
a. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of
semesters II to VI of B.Com Cooperation programme for the students
admitted during the academic year 2014-2015 onwards and the same be
approved.
b. the revised syllabi and scheme of examinations of semesters I to VI of
B.Com Cooperation programme for the students admitted during the
academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be approved.
c. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of
semesters III& IV of M.Com Cooperative Management programme for the
students admitted during the academic year 2015-2016 onwards and the same
be approved.

there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of a.
semesters I to VI of B.Sc Mathematics programme except Core 11: Complex Analysis and Core 16: Special Functions for the students admitted during the
academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be approved.
b. the revised syllabi Core 11: Complex Analysis and Core 16: Special b.
Functions for the students of B.Sc Mathematics admitted during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be approved.
there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of C.
semesters I to IV of M.Sc Mathematics programme except core 4 Mathematical Statistics , core 11: Combinatorics and Practical: Computer Programming With Spss & C + + for the students admitted during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be approved.
d. the revised syllabi core 4 Mathematical Statistics core 11: Combinatorics and Practical: Computer Programming With Spss & C + + for the students of M.Sc Mathematics admitted during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be approved.

there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of a.

b. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of
semesters I to VI of B.Sc Physics programme except Core-
Mathematical Physics and Classical Mechanics, core 6 Optics ,core 10
Solid State Physics and elective- I Alternate Energy Resources for the
students admitted during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same
be approved.
c. the revised syllabi of core5: Mathematical Physics and Classical Mechanics,

Energy Resources for the students of B.Sc Physics programme for the
students admitted during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same
be approved.
d. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of
Semesters III & IV of M.Sc Physics programme for the students admitted

2017 onwards and the same be approved.

Dr. A. Chandramohan moved that
there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of a.
semesters Ill to VI of B.Sc Chemistry programme for the students admitted
during the academic year 2014-2015 onwards and the same be approved.
b. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of
semesters I to VI of B.Sc Chemistry programme except core-6: Organic
chemistry 1, core-8: Inorganic chemistry II and lective I Spectroscopy for
the students admitted during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the
same be approved.
C. the reduction of total marks from 200 to 100 of the course, Group Project
Work in the semester VI of the BSc programme for the students admitted
during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be approved.
d. the revised syllabi of core-6: Organic chemistry I, core-8: Inorganic
chemistry 1I and Elective I Spectroscopy for the students admitted during the
academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be approved.
e. A new self-study course on "Basic concepts in Chemistry' introduced in
semester V and online examination for the same course for the students
admitted during the academic year 2016-2017 onwards and the same be
approved.
f. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of
semesters I to IV of M.Sc Chemistry programme for the students admitted
during the academic year 2015-2016 onwards and the same be approved.
g. the syllabus of certificate course on 'pharmaceutical chemistry' be approved

Dr. R. Thangavel moved that
a. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of
semesters I to VI of B.Sc Electronics and Communication Systems
programme except Core 6: Antenna & Wave Propagation and Core 7:
Electronic Circuits, Core Practical - 5: Electronic Communication and Core -
12: Optical Fiber Communication for the students admitted during the
academic year 2014-2015 onwards and the same be approved.
b. the revised syllabi of Core 6: Antenna & Wave Propagation and Core - 7:
Electronic Circuits, Core Practical - 5: Electronic Communication and Core -
12: Optical Fiber Communication for the students admitted during the
academic year 2014-2015 onwards and the same be approved.
c. the revised syllabi of Elective course in Group II - Microcontrollers and their
Applications and Elective course in Group I1 Embedded System Design
for the students of B.Sc Electronics and Communication Systems admitted
during 2014-2015 onwards and the same be approved.
d. the revised syllabi Non Major Elective course PC hardware Fundamentals
for the students of B.Sc Computer science admitted during the academic
year 2015-2016 onwards and the same be approved.
Dr. V. Ponnusamy seconded the motion.
Sri.R.Somasundram suggested that changes may be added at any time
in second and third year syllabus if required.
His suggestion was accepted.

Dr. A.V. Ramani moved that
a. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of

the subjects.

a. the revised syllabi and scheme of examinations of semesters I to IV of MSW programme for the students admitted during the academic year 2016- 2017 onwards and the same be approved. b. there is no change in the existing syllabi and scheme of examinations of semesters IIl & IV of MSW programme for the students admitted during the academic year 2015-2016 onwards and the same be approved.
c. syllabi and scheme of examinations of new Diploma proramme on
Computer Applications for Social Workers" with new syllabi and scheme of
examinations for the students MSW programme and the same be approved.

Applications recommends Dr. R. Sridhar moved that

BCA programme for the students admitted during the academic year 2016-

In order to match the norms of Bharathiyar University to award a degree without disturbing the norms of UGC & NSDC. Syllabus of B.Voc is adopted and brought into framework of Bharathiyar University having 180 credits and 4200
marks for 3 year programme.

The member secretary of the Acadenmie Council, Dr.R.Thangavel moved that
a. Introduction of extra credit courses offered through S WAYAM, Spoken Tutorial of
IIT Bombay and NPTEL for our students with our Professors as mentors to co-
ordinate. After successful completion the students are eligible for extra credit of 2
and the same be approved.
b. Introduction of extra eredit courses on non academic programmes for students
i. Doing social services such as Clean India and Healthy India in their
own/selected village for the period of 60 hours within their programme
duration may be awarded with 2 credits and the same be approved.
ii. Conducting literacy movement/ tuition programme for children of their
own/selected village for 15 persons within their programme duration may be
awarded with 2 credits and the same be approved.

Introduce a course on GST after the implementation of it, for students of commerce
departments.
