important to the existence of CASP.

CASP: MY VIEW

• I was allotted my DOCC Project in Pune with CASP. I spent two weeks with the organization at there HQ in Pune.

• I as assig ed the project: Streamlining Project Ma age e t . • I spent one week knowing the Organization, visiting the field with the activists,

analysing the work and the means and resources available.

• The o ly force hich keeps the goi g is MOTIVATION . • CASP IS LIKE A FAMILY. Everyone is so frank and open and works with passion.

• The multiple units at different locations work for the same cause and are monitored on regular basis.

• Apart from their pioneer Child Sponsorship Program, CASP also undertakes many community welfare and development projects in collaboration with Government and Corporates.

PROJECT- Status

• I was allotted the Streamlining Project Management for Project in Pune Urban Slums . • The project has been sponsored and the progress has been recorded. The

documentation needs to be standardized. Formats developed are good and can be used across all units.

• The workshops conducted proved beneficial to the children. Results have been recorded properly.

• With few modifications, the reports could be directly presented to the sponsors.

• The result analysis were not done professionally which is an area of opportunity for the organization.

Page 7: Docc casp

PROJECT- Status

The issues highlighted during the discussions:

• No standardized written document is available: No standardized documentation on the work in progress.

• No measurable success indicators: There are no indicators (objective) to measure the success or growth of the Project. A matrix developed indigenously needs to be filled manually and maintained likewise.

• No implementation plan documents: The project allocation and implementation are not linked through documentation

6 Essential Strategic Questions

• WHAT ? Activities and main programs (risks)

• WHERE ? Target Territory

• FOR WHOM ? Target Groups

• HOW ? Means of intervention (realise, finance, « catalyse », advise, coordinate, inform, short or long term engagement)

• WHEN ? Planning

• WITH ? Ressources (training needs), capabilities

PROJECT- Reassignment

After discussion, we realized that without strategic planning, Project Management will be of less utility to the organization. We need:

1. Strategy

The Strategy needs to be revisited as per the current needs. People either know the organization because of eminent personalities who have been a part of CASP and because of the good work done by the organization in the communities. Social Media presence needs to be strengthened.

2. Standardization of Documents

Every unit has its own practice. Every file has its own format documents. Monitoring and evaluation was very subjective and needed a lot of work before presenting it too Corporates/Sponsors.

3. Revisiting Mission/Vision Statement

Mission statement must relate to the Organizational aspirations

Vision statement must relate to the Goals and Targets.

4. Developing more Competencies

The successful projects need to be properly analysed and documented to develop advocacy.

Page 10: Docc casp

• Considering the limited amount of time we had at hand, we decided to lay foundation to the strategic aspect of the organization.

• “o I as gi e the task to ork o Assisting CASP to develop a Strategic Plan .

Project: Methodology

• I worked on the need to revisit strategy to cater to current and future needs.

• Then I worked upon the PESTEL Analysis for the organization. The effect of external environment on the organization needs to be gauged.

• We then discussed the outcomes of PESTEL to look for more factors.

• After completing the PESTEL, we decided to work upon SWOT analysis for the organization.

• We also developed the 5 Forces Model for the organization.

• I gathered the information and had round table discussions, made notes and explained the basic models for laying out a strategy.

Page 13: Docc casp

Project: Methodology

• Questionnaires:

1. PESTEL

2. SWOT

Data was collated. The members were explained the two models in a classroom type program conducted by me.

Video clips, questionnaires and pics were collected as proof.
