Tensile testing machine shall be calibrated at least once in a year. 2.2 Copies of any records and other connected papers that may be required by the Bureau shall be made available at any time on request. 3. QUALITY CONTROL: 3.1 It is recommended that, as far as possible, Statistical Quality Control (SQC) methods may be used for controlling the quality of the product during production as envisaged in this Scheme [See IS 397(part I) to IS 397(part 4)]. . 3.2 In addition, effort should be made to gradually introduce a Quality Management System in accordance with IS/ISO 9001. 4. SCHEME OF TESTING AND INSPECTIONFOR CERTIFICATION OF

STEEL TUBES, TUBULARS AND OTHER STEEL FITTINGSPART 2 - STEEL PIPE FITTINGS

ACCORDING TOIS 1239 {Part 2):2011

(Fifth Revision)

1. LABORATORY - A laboratory shall be maintained which shall besuitably equipped and staffed where different tests given in thespecification shall be carried out in accordance with the methodsgiven in the specification.

4.1 MARKING - In addition the following information shall be indicatedby means of a tag on each bag/bundle containing fittings/ tubular /sockets:(a) Name of the manufacturer or trade mark;(b) Size, designation and type of fittings;

5. LEVELSOF CONTROL:

5.1 The tests, as indicated in Table 1 attached and at the levels ofcontrol specified therein, shall be carried out on the wholeproduction of the factory which is covered by this scheme andappropriate records and charts maintained in accordance withparagraph 2.0 above. All the production which conforms to theIndian Standards and covered by the licence shall be marked withcertification mark of the Bureau.

5.2 In respect of all other clauses of the specification the factorywill maintain appropriate control and checks to ensure that theirproduct conforms to the various requirements of this specification.

5.3 Tubulars confirming to this standard shall be made from tubeswhich comply with all the appropriate requirements of IS 1239 (Part1). General requirements relating to the supply of steel tubular andother fittings shall conforms to IS 1387.

6. REJECTIONS - A separate record shall be maintained givinginformation relating to the rejection of the production -notconforming to the requirements of the specification and the methodof its disposal. Such material shall in no circumstances be storedtogether with that conformingto the specification.

7. SAMPLES - The licensee shall supply, free of charge, the samplesrequired in accordance with the Bureau' of Indian Standards(Certification) Regulations, 1988, as subsequently amended, fromthe factory or godowns. The Bureau shall pay for the samples takenby it from the open market.

8. REPLACEMENT:

8.1 Whenever a complaint is received soon after the goods withStandard Marks have been purchased and used, and if there isadequate evidence that the goods have not been misused, defectivegoods or their components are replaced or repaired free of cost bythe licensee in case the complaint is proved to be genuine and thewarranty period (where applicable) has not expired. The finalauthority to judge the conformity of the product to the IndianStandard shall be with the Bureau. The firm shall have owncomplaint investigation system as per 15/15010002.

8.2 In the event of any damages caused by the goods bearing theStandard Mark, or claim being filed by the consumers against BISStandard Mark and not "conforming to" the relevant IndianStandard, entire liability arising out of such non conforming productshall be of licensee and BIS shall not in any way be responsible insuch cases.

9. STOP MARKING:

9.1 The marking of the product shall be stopped under intimationto the Bureau if, at any time, there is some difficulty in maintainingthe conformity of their product to the specification, or the testingequipment goes out of order. The marking may be resumed as soonas the defects are removed under intimation to Bureau.

9.2 The marking of the product shall be stopped immediately ifdirected to do so by Bureau for any reason. The marking may thenbe resumed only after permission by the Bureau. The informationregarding resumption of markings shall also be sent to the Bureau.

10. PRODUCTION DATA - The licensee shall send to BIS as perthe enclosed proforma-l to be authenticated by a CharteredAccountant, a statement of quantity produced, marked andexported by him and the trade value thereof at the end of eachoperative year of the licence.
