The buildings will be constructed with a pre-cast exterior, have a clear height of 28’, an average of 8.5% office build-out, and feature such specifications as T5 lighting and ESFR sprinkler systems.

Description: The International Hotel was originally developed in 1970 as a downtown apartment building. It is situated in a 35-storey mid-block tower located on a 30-meter wide, mid-block site. At the time of its construction, the building was converted to its current use as a suites hotel with 248 units, ranging in size between 600 and 900 s.f. The hotel has a storied history, as the site of many memorable gala events and pivotal business meetings.

The new 29 storey tower is a proposed 209 key 4-diamond suites hotel with full business amenities; spa, conference & meeting rooms, specialty restaurants, winter garden & ball room. The new development has a total gross floor area of 288,000 ft2, including 3 levels parkade / loading / service.

Restoration of the podium levels 1 - 5 of the existing hotel is also included in this development complete with structural, functional and code upgrades.

/ Rocky View County, AB In April 2011, approval was obtained to commence installation

of services to 131 acres of Nose Creek Business Park to enable building development to begin in 2012. This servicing will be totally completed by May 2013. Full urban standard servicing will be available to the building sites in time to commence the projects on the schedule noted. This will include roads, sanitary and storm sewer, shallow utilities and potable water. The 42.8 acre Phase 1 site can accommodate up to 4 buildings with a total of 979,050 square feet. Building A: 194,794 square feet of 228' to 270' bay depth big box with potential for internalized office areas. Building C: 233,190 square feet of 295' bay depth big box with potential for internalized office areas. Building specifications will include an ESFR (early suppression, fast response) sprinkler system and a 55' by 40' column grid (with 60' x 55' marshalling area inside the dock doors). The buildings are designed for front parking and rear loading and all docks are equipped with hydraulic levelers. Each building will be 32' clear height and will include T5 lighting and grade level glazing as well as upper height punched glass windows to increase internal light levels.

Project Description: The CBE Education Centre located on the corner of 8th Street

and 12th Ave SW. The CBE Education Centre includes construction of the ten-storey office tower that will include 190,000 square feet of office space for the Calgary Board of Education. The Education Centre will be linked by a pedestrian bridge to an adjacent two story conference centre that will be used as a multi-purpose building. In addition to the office tower there will be three levels of underground parking to accommodate 360 cars, as well as a restaurant and retail shops on the main floor along 8th Str SW.

A unique challenge that the team faces is that The CBE requires that this education complex incorporate the 100-year-old sandstone wood school, currently sitting on the site, into the design.

This will be a LEED - New construction GOLD achieved.

Tenant fit-outs were completed through May 2010 into mid-2011. Services and included tenant fit-out, technology (IT/Av/VoIP) & furniture planning & procurement.

Integrated project management team comprised of architect, engineering sub consultants, construction manager and specialty restoration and LEED consultants.

Project Description: - Renfrew Educational Services is to develop a 15,000 sq. ft.

facility, as a tenant within the University of Calgary’s Child Development Centre.

- This development would enable Renfrew to continue offering a broad range of specialized programs to the Calgary community in a research setting, enhancing its leadership in program development for children with all kinds of special needs.

- The primary focus of the facility will be to accommodate up to 60 children with autism, ranging from Jr. Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Project Description: The site infrastructure for the new Clinical Building required

extensive relocation of all existing hospital support service function, mech / elect services, as well as underground deep services. Power plant expansions and de-bottlenecks to the sites’ central steam and chilled water systems were implemented.

A new intersection at the Trans Canada Highway to the FMC site required extensive redevelopment of the site services and roadways. New roadways where created to accommodate improved site circulation.

A new 650 stall underground parkade is being developed as part of the Site Infrastructure to add much needed parking for the Foothills Medical Centre. The structure is located immediately west and connected at grade to the new McCaig Tower, currently under construction.

Role / Task: Project Management Services leading the project team comprising of the Prime Consultant, Construction Managers, and Specialty Consultants and CHR staff members dedicated to the Capital Projects Office.

Project Description: The development of the new 1600 stall Lot 6 Parkade began as a

P3 (Public-Private-Partnership) project. Following the completion of construction, the CHR decided to revert the P3 contract back to full (CHR) ownership, maintaining the operational management of the facility to an external firm.

Extensive research into the life cycle design and costing of the Parkade was provided through the P3 tendering process. The selection team examined several designs with consensus reached for the development of an above grade, precast concrete parkade.

The P3 team lead by EllisDon Construction included Gibbs Gage Architects, RJC Structural, Conforce Pre Cast, and Standard Parking.

Project Description: The Alberta Health Services ~ Major Capital Project expansion

plans for the 3 Adult Acute Care sites were initiated in November 2003. As result of the Regions’ long term capital plans and site based Master Plans, and with Government support, a strategic planning team was created. The project management methodologies were developed and implemented, which included;

- Scope definition, project start up requirements, - Establish initial (order of magnitude) capital budgets, - Establish milestones & timelines to clinical priorities, - Development of Project Management Organizations at the

Regional and Site Specific level, - Preparation and issuing of Expression of Interest (EOI) and

Request for Proposals (RFP) for engagement of Functional Programmers, Prime Consultants, Cost Consultants and Construction Managers,

- Consultant / Construction Managers Evaluation, Interview, Selection and Negotiation process,

- Preparation of Consultant and Construction Managers’ Agreements.

The process for the selection of the external consultants and construction managers’ was completed in 8 months, leading to the establishment of the 3 site based Project Teams.

� The Calgary and Edmonton Cancer Support Centre’s will each provide up to 30 double-occupancy guest studios for patients and their families. The Lodge’s will provide greater flexibility for those patients who wish to participate in clinical trials, and most importantly, ensure that no-one living with cancer in Alberta or the NWT is turned away. Facility features included; Comfortable, affordable and safe accommodation for patients and their families, 24-hour nursing supervision /caring volunteer support systems / housekeeping services, range of amenities and social support spaces including family rooms, laundry facilities, recreation and activity areas and a resource center with up to date information and resources about cancer and treatments / a wellness center for prevention and health promotion / an opportunity to interact with others who share in the battle against cancer.

Project Description:

The Carewest Colonel Belcher houses 175 residents in private rooms. The residents enjoy amenities such as the auditorium, pub, chapel, courtyards, legacy garden, full service kitchen, cafeteria and café, gift shop, and hair salons, as well as having access to health services and amenities through Carewest.

Project Description:

As the Project Manager for the Native Addictions Services Society, Dan Clement guided the design & construction of a new 22,175 square foot treatment centre. The building provides space for outpatient services, including counseling, as well as a residential inpatient component. The project, which comprises of 36 beds in 18 self-contained rooms, full service kitchen, dining room, reception area, administrative offices, assembly spaces, support space, lounges, recreational space, ceremonial room and multi-purpose spaces.

Project Description: Ten years of planning has resulted in a spectacular new

engineering research facility, named the Calgary Centre for Innovative Technology at the University of Calgary. The University is a world leader in wireless communications and communications technologies and is working on a number of contracts with the U.S. Defense Department. The 6,690 BGSM structure is made up of two high bays and an office-laboratory block. An energy high bay area concentrates on natural resource technologies and enables researchers to conduct real-time monitoring of structures and testing of full-size elements to revamp building codes as well as develop new materials.

This collaborative, high-tech research facility is home to multi-disciplinary teams working to find solutions for problems facing society and industry in five key areas including, Resource Development / Utilization, Environmental Impact and Sustainable Infrastructure Modular wet and dry labs can be customized to accommodate any modifications that may be required in the years to come.

Project Description: The Information and Communications Technology building is a

seven-story concrete structure with a metal panel and curtain wall elevator. The 18,500 BGSM Information and Communication Technology Building provides added facilities for both Computer Sciences and the Electrical Engineering Departments including 1-300 seat and 2-150 seat theatres located on the man floor. Also provided is substantial study and lounge areas and an internet café featuring computer wireless touch down.

This award-winning project is one of the most technologically advanced projects in Canada with respect to energy efficiency. There have been many articles and demonstrations of this project acknowledging its success in achieving its goals and successful implementation of a “green” building. Some unique aspects of the building include the use of in-slab radiant cooling, operable windows and solar chimneys.
