1 General

1.1 Purpose

This document provides all operational instructions for the User Interface Client (UIC) of the EBI Screen V3.5 for the Delhi Metro Line 5 & 6 project.

1.2 Scope

This document is adapted to the requirements of the Delhi Metro Line 5 & 6 project. It covers operational stations. Both local and centralized control operations are described in the document.

It does not include the description for the Interlocking functionality.

3 EBI Screen Overview

To serve multi-user configuration, the EBI Screen OWS software runs in separate computers distributed along the network.

The EBI Screen OWS unit consists of:

• A processing unit

• One or Three display units (20” LCD monitor)

• A keyboard

• A mouse pointing device

• Or a laptop with 15.4" TFT display.

It is equipped with the UIC.exe to provide the operator with graphical interface.

EBI Screen UIC Main Window consists of these following areas.

• Main Menu

• Status Bar

• Command Bar

• Window Bar

• Alarm Bar

• Title bar or Caption bar

3.2 Main Menu

Main Menu contains pull-down menus for available commands.

The content of Main Menu is configured differently upon the operator priviledge. For example, the basic Main Menu consists of System, Site, Events, Alarms, Window, and Help shall be available for a local traffic operator.

Below table shows the main menu and submenus for all roles.

Status bar is located in the bottom of the EBI Screen UIC Main window. The left end indicates the operative mode of the system. It also works as On-line Help while mouse is moving across the buttons and menus.

On the right end displays the date, time, active server and RGB buttons.

Date and time formats display as “dd.mm hh:mm”

The RGB buttons drawn to right corner adapter for a colour test field indicates the status of the display. Whilst a black dot blinks in the green rectangle indicates that EBI Screen is running.

3.4 Command Bar

Command bar is used for entering commands and showing command responses. It is normally decked to the bottom of the EBI Screen UIC Main window.

When the selected command from operator appears in the box on left side of command bar and will be executed when the operator click Execute button. In the Response log on right side is displayed 1…n latest command responses.

A green color of the response text indicates a successfully executed command and a red color text indicates error in command execution.

3.5 Window Bar

The Window bar indicates the open windows on the client area. By pressing the button, the associated window pops up on front.

The black button indicates picture window.

Button Default returns the saved default workspace of each operator on the client area. It includes the combo box to select a viewset.

3.6 Alarm Bar

It contains buttons to quiet alarms and to open Alarm List windows.

Red button in the alarm bar indicates active alarms. Blinking red button indicates active not acknowledged alarms. Blinking green button indicates not active but not acknowledged alarms.

3.7 Title Bar or Caption Bar

It shows name of an active view window. It also contains standard Min/Max/Close buttons and Windows system menu.

3.8 Client Area

Client area is the working face, which is used for showing child windows, pop-up menus, , floating tool bars, view pictures, alarms list, etc.

4 EBI Screen User Interface

This chapter explains the EBI Screen user interface (UIC.exe) and operations which are commonly used by operators. Some operations are available for all workstations; however some are restricted depending on role and privilege of operators.

The chapter begins with operator access to the User Interface Client (UIC) and related actions. It also introduces the EBI Screen windows, detail pictures and viewsets.

4.1 Start the EBI Screen UIC

When an operator logs into the EBI Screen workstation, the following dialog pops up and the EBI Screen UIC is automatically started.

To avoid the automatic start of UIC by a login, remove the check mark Automatic restart of UI in use within a couple seconds after the dialog has popped up. After that the UIC can be started by clicking the button Start UI.

NOTE: The EBI Screen OWS is set to automatically log on in to the windows, as well as the UIC. The predefined username and password for window logon is granted for user right.

The UIC starts and the window Server States is displayed.

As soon as either the left or right traffic light shows green and the other shows yellow, the blue dotted line stops moving in the bottom of the window indicates that UIC is ready for a session start.

4.2 Start a Session

The dialog UIC Client Login is opened automatically. This is the same function as selecting from the main menu System→Login.

To start a session, log into the system by typing in the field Operator Name your personal identification and in the field Password your personal password. Click the button OK.

NOTE: Password is case-sensitive.

Closing the dialog or clicking the button Cancel stops the session start.

After a successful login, the dialog Operator Profile is opened and you are asked to select your Role from the combo box and the Authority Areas from a list at the right. A list at the left displays the privileges connected to your role. The roles are fixed; no selection is possible at this point. The role defines combinations of authority areas and privileges configured to you.

The roles, authority areas and privileges form an operator profile defines your rights during an EBI Screen session. The authority areas define the areas within you are allowed to operate and privileges define the actions you are allowed to perform during your session.

The button OK confirms your selection. The button Cancel closes the dialog without any selection.

NOTE: Without the selected role, you are not able to do anything with the UIC. Therefore a valid login through System→Login is always required.

After the confirmed profile selection, the dialog above listing your authority areas is opened. The button Close closes the dialog and your session with the selected role and authority areas can start. The button Reselect opens the dialog Operator Profile and allows you to select your role and authority areas once again.

4.3 Change Password

To change your password, select System→ Change Password from the main menu. The dialog Change Password is opened.

Fill the text boxes from the top to bottom. Use the mouse pointer or TAB key on your keyboard to go from one text box to another – do not use the ENTER key. All text boxes must be filled. To complete the password change, click the button OK. To keep your old password, click the button Cancel.

NOTE: The password length for Delhi must be at least 4 characters.

Any operator, once logged on, is authorized to change his/her password at any time. It is recommended that the password be changed within an appropriate time to prevent unauthorized persons login on to the system.

What if …

The error message ‘Error writing database’ appears? The password can’t be saved in the database. Repeat changing password procedure.

The error message ‘Password length must be at least 4 characters’ appears? The new password was too short. Repeat changing password procedure with a longer password.

The error message ‘Invalid password’ appears? The old password was not correct. Repeat changing password procedure with the correct old password.

If the password is forgotten, a new password and the operator profile will have to be recreated, thus losing all preference. Contact System Administrator.

4.4 Check Status of Servers

To check status of the EBI Screen servers, select from the main menu System→Servers.

States of servers are symbolized by traffic light symbol with red, yellow and green lights. These lights indicate the operative modes of the servers. The left traffic lights are for the server number 1 and the right are for the server number 2. The operative mode can also be seen in the text boxes below the lights.

In normal case, the server 1 is on-line and the server 2 is standby (or vice versa) and the appropriate traffic lights show green and yellow.

If the changes in the server modes occurred, e.g. after a switchover between servers so that server 1 has changed its mode to standby and server 2 to online, the dialog Server States will pops-up. If the red traffic light is blinking and the text box below the light shows Reconnect, operator should click the text box. The reconnect establishes the connection to the server again. After reconnection the dialog Authority Areas will be displayed. Close the dialog to continue with previous authority areas or reselect the authority areas.

What if …

The traffic lights of server show red? The server is in Off-line mode. Wait for a while, if the red light doesn’t change to green or yellow, contact the System Administrator.

The traffic lights of server show blinking red and the button under the traffic lights shows Reconnect? The server is in No contact mode. Click the button Reconnect and wait for the yellow or green light. If the red light continues blinking, contact the System Administrator.

The traffic lights of server show yellow? The server is in Standby mode. Visible in double server mode. No actions.

The traffic lights of server show green? The server is in On-line mode. No actions.

The error message Create Socket Failed pops-up? The communication between server processes can’t be started. Push the button Reconnect and/or contact the System Administrator.

4.5 Print an Active Document

To print any active view or picture, select from the main menu System→Print Active Document.

Set the paper and printer properties and click the button OK. Clicking the button Cancel remains the properties intact.

4.7 Change Dialog Fonts

The operator can change font, font style and font size of the status bar, dialog windows, events and alarm texts. The font settings are operator and workstation depended.

Do the desired selections and click the button OK. To remain the fonts intact, click the button Cancel.

NOTE: After changing the dialog fonts the stop and start of the EBI Screen UIC is required to get the new font settings visible.

4.8 Enable/Disable History Mode

To restore the given commands in the Command field for later use, set the check mark for System�Settings�History Mode. To cancel restoring of the given commands, remove the check mark for System�Settings�History Mode.

4.9 Enable/Disable Moving of Command Bar

To allow the command bar follow the right mouse clicks when moving it across the monitors, set the check mark for System→Settings→Move Command Bar. To cancel the command bar moving, remove the check mark for System→Settings→Move Command Bar.

If the Move Command Bar is disabled, the command bar remains in the fixed position.

4.10 Operate Function Keys

The function keys F1…F12 (F-keys) can be defined to activate a certain command when the function key button is pressed from the keyboard.

4.11 Handle Opened Windows

The menu Windows in the main menu offers some useful commands for handling opened windows. Opened windows are listed in the menu Window. By clicking a window menu item, it is activated and brought to front. A tick mark in front of the picture window indicates an active window.

To arrange multiple opened windows side by side, select Window→Tile.

4.12 Getting Help During Session

To get help, beside help text on the status bar (chapter 3.3), there is also a Help menu available.

5 Handling of Authority Areas

When operator logs in, he selects authority areas, which he is allowed to control. This chapter describes how operator changes his authority areas during his session.

5.1 Transfer My Authority Areas to another Operator

To transfer your authority area to another operator select from the main menu System → Authority... → Session Transfer

Select from the left side list with the mouse the authority area to be transferred. Select the operator to get the area from the right side list. Click the button Transfer to activate the transfer operation.

Wait for the reply from the target operator. Target operator accepts the transfer by acknowledging the transfer message. Reply message from the target operator indicates which of the authority areas he/she has accepted.

The button Cancel leaves the authority areas intact. The button Close closes the dialog.

5.2 Accept New Authority Areas from another Operator

To accept new authority areas, which are requested by another operator, select them from the dialog window Session Transfer Response and click the button OK.

Operator who has the area of authority as Chief Control can release the authority area of other operators without asking any permissions.

After select the operator’s session you want to release the authority area, click Release all areas. Any specific authority area cannot be selected and all authority areas of that session will be released.

6 Monitoring Process State via Pictures

This chapter describes how operator uses pictures to monitor the state of process.

There are three types of pictures: Overview pictures, detail pictures, and System pictures. The overview pictures are opened from the menu Overviews while the detail pictures and system pictures are opened from the menu Site.

An overview picture offer the view of whole line layout. This is available for the operator in OCC only.

To open an overview picture, select from the main menu Overviews=>Overview Picture.

To look at active events or alarms of the certain site, select: Site→ Line→Station→Events or Alarms. The Event Log / Alarm List are opened including active events/alarms of that site.

6.4 Open a Picture from Viewset

Viewsets are workstation depended. Each operator workstation can have one or several viewsets. Another way to open a picture is to select from available viewset. Click the drop down list menu and select the viewset. It is located under the main menu.

Another way to open a picture is to click on the navigator, arrow-like symbol. The navigator may lead to the broaden view or the narrow view, as well as the adjacent view.

For example, to open each station detail picture from the interlocking detail picture, left-click at arrow down symbol at the desired station.

6.6 Adjust Amount of Information in a Picture

Each detail picture includes usually different types of information, e.g. symbols, track numbers, point numbers, etc. To keep the pictures simple and well defined, different kind of information is grouped to layers, which are displayed only on operator’s request. E.g. track numbers are included to the layer Track numbers. This information is displayed only, when the layer Track numbers is selected from the layer menu. When the picture is opened for the first time, the information of the default layer, usually the wayside object symbols, is displayed.

To display a certain kind of information of a picture, click the background of a detail picture with the right mouse button and set the check mark for the selected layer.

To hide a certain kind of information of a picture, click the background of a detail picture with the right mouse button and remove the check mark of the selected layer.

To resize a picture, click the border of the picture and drag with the mouse. To maximize a picture, click the maximize button in the title bar.

7 Controlling Process with Commands

This chapter describes how operator can give commands when working with EBI Screen UIC.

A command can be entered via mouse or keyboard. When using the mouse, the object is right-clicked with the mouse in the picture and the command is selected from the object’s pop-up menu. The command with parameters appears in the command line and the button Execute is clicked.

When using the keyboard, the command with its parameters is written in the command line and the button Execute is clicked.

If the command’s syntax was correct, the response field will show Command Sent OK to indicate that command was sent to the interlocking device.

Text in the response field shows Too few Arguments? Not enough arguments in command. Enter right amount of arguments.

Text in the response field shows Command Not Allowed !!? Not enough privileges to give command, or no authority. Change you role and/or authority areas.

Text in the response field shows Unknown Route !!? Wrong parameters for route command. Enter right parameters.

The response from the interlocking device will be shown in the command bar’s response field. The Response log shows 8 latest command responses. Response text of a successfully executed command is green. A red colour text indicates error in command execution.

You can cancel the command procedure by clicking the button Clear in the Command line or the key ESC in the keyboard any time before pushing the button Execute.

7.1 Command Type

Commands are classified into two types; single object command and multiple objects command. The single object command requires only one object number in order to send the command, while the multiple objects command requires two/three object numbers.

Regardless of the number of parameter in command, it can also seperated by behavior; Normal command and Critical command.

Normal commands can be executed right away while critical commands requires command confirmation. Operators can see the critical command confirmation request indication by the red text, depends on the critical command and the object.

To give a command for a single object, set mouse pointer on the object’s symbol in the picture. When right-clicking the object, a green selection rectangle is drawn around the object and a popup menu including objects allowed commands is displayed.

When pointing a command, its description is displayed in the Status bar. The command is selected by clicking it with the left mouse button. After selection the command is displayed in the Command line. Click button Execute.

7.1.2 Give a Multiple Objects Command

In each multiple objects command, it involved two or three objects: An object in the start point and another object in the end point for two objects command and additional object in the middle point is required for three objects command.

There are several multiple objects commands in Delhi Metro Line 5&6 project;

Two objects command; TR, TROS, SR, BLOCK_RTE, BLOCK_SR, UNBLOCK_RTE, UNBLOCK_SR, CONFIRM_UNBLOCK_RTE, CONFIRM_UNBLOCK_SR and GET_AUTH.

Three objects command; SR3, BLOCK_SR3, UNBLOCK_SR3 and CONFIRM_UNBLOCK_SR3.

The example of two objects is route command, ‘TR’, it is given with the following mouse actions: Start point left clicking - End point right clicking. Select command from pop-up menu, then click button Execute to execute the command.

The example of three objects command is shunt route via point command, ‘SR3’, it is given with the following mouse actions: Start point left clicking, Middle point left clicking and End point right clicking. Select command from pop-up menu, then click button Execute to execute the command.

It is linked to the interlocking computer status. Every stations in each CBI area are linked to the same Interlocking.

When right-clicking at point, available commands are appeared. There are common commands that appear to all points and some unique commands that appear to some points.

The common commands are the switch point position, point block, manual authorization, and etc.

Call-on and Train Speed Restriction operations are not available for point in Depot area.

7.3.2.1 Block/Unblock point

For maintenance purpose, point can be blocked from moving to protect the maintenance personnel at wayside.

To block a point, right-click at the desired point and left-click at BLOCK then execute the command at the command bar or press Enter

Operator can execute TSR_10, TSR_15, TSR_20, TSR_30 or TSR_50 to limit the train running speed. This limitation can be removed by giving TSR_OFF which is a critical command.

Each point has different level of speed limit depending on its ceiling speed.

For example, operator wants to limit the speed to 20 km/h for point MUDK_P502E. Right-click at the point symbol, and left-click at TSR_20.

Emergency Stop Platform object is located virtually near the platform symbol. It is used for cancelling the emergency stop of the train at specific platform.

7.3.5.1 Deactivate Emergency Stop

When the emergency stop is actived by physical plunger at wayside platform or control room. Right-click at Emergency Stop Platform object and left-click at EMER_STOP_OFF to deactivate emergency stop.

7.3.6 Cycle button

The Cycle button is for cycle mode operation for turnback route which located on screen near the turnback track.

7.3.6.1 Cycle On/Cycle Off

At terminal station including interim turnback station, trains should be operated in a sequential manner with route being set automatically. There can be more than one cycle at each station. All the possible cycles are provided for the train arriving in the normal direction.

There will be a Cycle button provided for each cycle. The automaton is implemented for each Cycle button. When the operator give command ‘CYCLE_ON’; right-click at the cycle button and left-click at CYCLE_ON. Then the specific automaton will be activated.

7.3.7 Digital Counter

• Remove track block (UNBLOCK_TC)

• Remove signal block (UNBLOCK_SI)

7.3.7.1 Reset All Counter value to zero

Only the Chief Controller can reset all counters value by typing RESET_COUNTER and name of Interlocking No. directly into command bar. Then execute the command or press Enter.

7.4 Operate Route Command

Route operation consists of setting, cancelling, blocking a route and releasing route blocked.

Route setting, blocking, and block releasing operations are multiple objects command, while route cancelling is single object command.

NOTE: A route is combined of start and end objects which can be any of these following types; signal, fictive signal, virtual signal, adjacent shunting signal, depot shunting signal, buffer stop, end block track, and help block.

To cancel a route, the end object is used. There are 2 types of command depends on route type; train route in main line area and shunt route in depot area.

Train route cancelling command, MAN_RTE_REL, is available for signal, fictive signal, adjacent shunting signal, buffer stop, and help block.

Shunt route cancelling command, SHUNT_RTE_REL, is available for depot shunting signal, adjacent signal, buffer stop, and end block track.

7.4.1 Route Setting

To set a route, operator can follow these steps.

1) Select the start point (start object) of the route by left-clicking. A white rectangle is drawn around the start point. The pointer changes to an arrow to indicate that a route command giving is in progress.

2) Select the end point (end object) of the route by right-clicking. The white rectangle appears around the end point.

3) A route menu appears immediately when the end point is selected.

Select the route command (TR or TROS or SR). The route command appears in the command bar.

Press the button Execute or press Enter.

4) The desired route is set and the traffic direction of this route is indicated.

7.4.2 Route Cancelling

To cancel a route, operator can follow these steps.

1) Select the end point (end object) of the route by right-clicking. The green rectangle appears around the end point.

2) A cancel route menu appears immediately when the end point is selected.

3) Select the cancel route command (MAN_RTE_REL or SHUNT_RTE_REL). The cancel route command appears in the command bar, then click the button Execute or press Enter.

7.4.3 Block Route

7.5 Operate Platform Object Command

The platform object, which is a static grey rectangular, placed on the track side according to platform position. A single object command is provided at platform track for train stopping

behavior.

7.5.1 Skip Stop

The SET SKIP command is for order the train to skip this selected platform. For example, if the operator issue SET SKIP command at NNOI PF2, train 4410 take off from NRSN station shall pass up platform at NNOI station without stopping.

7.5.3 Keep Door Closed

The SET KEEP DOOR CLOSED command is for inhibit train door to be opened at a selected platform. Same as the SET SKIP command, this behavior information will be sent to the next train coming which stop at previous platform.

From the example, the operator send SET KEEP DOOR CLOSED command at up platform NNOI station. The train stopping at NRSN station up platform will be informed to keep the train door closed when stop at NNOI station.

7.6 Operate Ventilation Object Command

The ventilation object indicates the restriction mode by background color.

Status Display

The restriction mode of the ventilation section can be restored / removed by the operator in OCC under his consideration. Thus the ventilation restriction status shall be in responsible of the operator in OCC to verbally communicate with the operator in SCR.

7.6.1 Activate Restriction

The Activate command is for turning on the restriction mode. Once the ventilation is restricted, ATS will monitor the availability of that particular section and supervise Interlocking to inhibit train movement into the section when it is occupied.

An OCC operator can order the ventilation section to be restricted by right-click on the ventilation object and select Automaton -> Activate.

7.6.2 Terminate Restriction

The terminate command is for turning off the restriction mode of particular ventilation section. ATS will then resume normal operation.

An OCC operator can order the ventilation section to be not restricted by right-click on the ventilation button and select Automaton -> Terminate.

8 Interpreting of Events and Alarms

This chapter describes operator actions related to event and alarm handling in the EBI Screen UIC.

Events, like commands given by operator, changes in the object states, command responses, etc. are reported in the Event Log. Alarms, i.e. events denoting abnormal events, are registered in the Alarm List.

8.1 Alarm/Event Window

Alarms are listed and displayed in the alarm window. It shows the details of the alarm which are time, station, object and the description. Moreover, alarms can be filtered and displayed for the desired condition e.g. station, object type, etc.

The event window is quite the same as the alarm window except that the alarm window lets you acknowledge the alarms while the event window displays the event that occurs in the authority area.

Alarm List window is like Event Log window with two exceptions:

1) It has three buttons for acknowledging and cancelling alarms, however cancelling alarms button is not applicable in this project.

2) The first column of an alarm row has an alarm state indicator, which shows the state of the alarm.

State Indicator Alarm State

Red rectangle = alarming and acknowledged

Red flashing rectangle = alarming and not acknowledged

Green rectangle = cancelled alarm, waiting for deletion

Green flashing rectangle = not alarming and not acknowledged

3) In the alarm list, text colour imply the alarm priority level by mean of following.

Non-Urgent Text is coloured in black (0,0,0)

Urgent Text is coloured in dark yellow (128,128,0)

Critical Text is coloured in red (255,0,0)

8.2 Scroll Event/Alarm List

To move from a page to another use the buttons on the right-hand side of the event log / alarm list. The button Page Down moves one page down and the button Page Up one page up. The button Home brings out the first and the button End the last event page. If the buttons Home and Page Up are disabled it means that you are on the first page and if the buttons End and Page Down are disabled you are on the last page of lists.

When you resize the Event Log / Alarm List dialog window, the list control changes too. If rows in the Event Log / Alarm List don’t fit to the window, a horizontal scroll bar will appear on the bottom of window.

8.3 Filter alarm state in the Alarm List

In order to filter alarm states, select the activity-acknowledgement pair by ticking the checkboxes in the upper left corner of the Alarm list window.

Multiple windows of event log can be opened by pressing ctrl-button while selecting the event window from Events menu.

8.5 Filter events and alarms in the Event Log

There are two checkboxes to filter either events or alarms.

The difference of the alarms in the Event Log and in the Alarm List:

• Event Log displays the history of an object and the change of an object state is recorded on a new line.

• Alarm list displays alarm states, which are updated on the current line, if the alarm state is changed. Therefore there is no alarm history displayed in the Alarm List.

8.6 Filter other items in Event Log and Alarm List

To filter events/alarms, use filter combo boxes at the top of Event Log / Alarm List window. The following filter options are available:

• Site: Event/alarms are listed according to stations.

• Object type: Event/alarms are listed according to object type.

• Priority: Event/alarms are listed according to priorities.

• Timespan: Event/alarms inside certain timespan are listed.

• Authority Areas: Event/alarms are listed according to authority areas.

One or more of the filters can be used simultaneously.

8.7 Filter Site

By default, all sites are displayed. In order to display a specific site, select the site in the combo box list.

8.8 Filter Object Type and Object

Object combo box remain grey, until a specific object type is selected in the list. While activated, select the appropriate object in the Object combo box.

8.9 Filter Priority

By default, all priorities are displayed. In order to display a specific priority, select the priority in the combo box list. Only requested priority events and alarms are shown.

8.10 Filter Events/Alarms within a Timespan

To define a timespan, click the button Timespan in the Event Log / Alarm List. The dialog window Set Timespan is displayed.

Select the start of the timespan on the left side calendar and the end of the timespan on right side calendar. Click the button OK. To cancel the selection, click the button Cancel. Click the button Clear to remove the timespan selection.

Notice: Maximum is 10 days (Old Events and alarms can be filtered. Filtering of older event/alarms makes no sense even if it is possible to select any time stamp from the calendar.)

8.11 Change Layout of the Event Log/Alarm List

To change size of the columns in the Event Log / Alarm List, left-mouse-click the column separators in the list header and move the mouse. Column sizes are stored, so next time you open the Event Log / Alarm List window, column sizes are as you defined them.

8.12 Look at Events/Alarms of Other Authority Areas

To look at events/alarms related to objects not belonging your authority area, click the button Authority Areas in the Event Log / Alarm List. The dialog window Authority Areas is displayed. Select with the check mark the desired areas and click the button OK.

The event/alarms of the selected areas are displayed in the Event Log / Alarm List window. To return events/alarms of your own area, click the button Default.

Click on the button Cancel to close the dialog window without any changes.

8.13 Open Event Log of All Events

To list all events, select Events→All from the main menu. The dialog window Event Log is opened.

8.14 Open Event Log of Certain Site

To list all events of a site, select Events→ Site Name or Site→ Site Name→Events from the main menu.

8.15 Change Fonts in the Event Log Dialogue

To change font, font size or font style of the event text rows in the Event Log dialog, select from the main menu Events→Settings→Set Font. The dialog window Fonts is opened.

Notice: Change of the fonts in the Event Log dialog will also change the font settings of the Alarm List dialog.

8.16 Print Events

To print alarms, select from the main menu Events→Print. The dialog window Print is opened. Click the button OK to print. Click the button Cancel to close the window.

Notice: The Event Log window must be active before the print command is enabled.

8.17 Change Event Printer Font

To change font, font size or font style for printing events, select from the main menu Events→Settings→Set Printer Font. The dialog window Fonts is opened.

Notice: Change of the Event Printer fonts will also change the font settings of the Alarm Printer.

8.18 Close Event Log

To close the dialog window Event Log, click the close button in the dialog window’s title bar. The Event Log is closed.

8.19 Detect New Active Alarms

The red button in the Alarm bar indicates that there are active alarm(s) in that site group. If the red colour is blinking, there are unacknowledged alarms. Fixed red colour stay for acknowledged alarms.

In case of acoustic alarms, detection is easy since they generate sound!

8.20 Open Alarm List of All Alarms

To list all alarms, select Alarms→All from the main menu. The dialog window Alarm List is opened. The alarm window can also be opened from the Alarm bar.

8.23 Alarm Priorities

There are 3 groups of alarm priority: non-urgent, urgent and critical. Each priority has different text display (see below table)

8.24 Acknowledge Alarms

To acknowledge all alarms, click the button Acknowledge All in the Alarm List window.

Notice: Command Acknowledge All applies only alarms, which are visible in the current page of the Alarm List.

To acknowledge a specific alarm, select the alarm row by mouse and click the button Acknowledge.

To acknowledge multiple alarms, select the alarm rows by mouse, the standard Shift or Ctrl key and mouse button combination can be used, and click the button Acknowledge.

After acknowledgment indicators stop flashing.

Notice: Buttons Acknowledge and Acknowledge All is available only for operators having required rights for the operation.

What if …

The error message All visible alarms could not be acknowledged due to insufficient authority rights pops-up?

The error message There was nothing to acknowledge. (Perhaps due to insufficient authority rights) pops-up?

When clicking the button Acknowledge All, all alarms can’t be acknowledged since operator rights are insufficient. Select a new role via Relogin to get more authority areas and repeat the action.

8.25 Silence Acoustic Alarms

To silence acoustic alarms, click the button Quiet in the Alarm bar or select from the main menu Alarms→Quiet.

8.26 Check Sound of Acoustic Alarm for a Certain Priority Level

To check sound of an acoustic alarm for a certain priority level, select from the main menu Alarms→Audit. The dialog window Alarm Sound Auditioning is opened.

To listen to the alarm sound of certain priority, select the appropriate row in the dialog Alarm Sound Auditioning and click the button Play. The alarm is played through the loudspeakers. To close the dialog window, click the button Close.

8.27 Change Fonts in the Alarm List

To change font, font size or font style of the alarm text rows in the Alarm List, select from the main menu Alarms→Settings→Set Font. The dialog window Fonts is opened.

Notice: Change of the Alarm List fonts will also change the fonts of the Event Log

8.28 Print Alarms

To print alarms, select from the main menu Alarms→Print. The dialog window Print is opened. Click the button OK to print. Click the button Cancel to close the window.

Notice: The Alarm List window must be active before print command is enabled.

8.29 Change Alarm Printer Font

To change font, font size or font style for printing alarms, select from the main menu Alarms→Settings→Set Printer Font. The dialog window Fonts is opened.

Notice: Change of the Alarm Printer fonts will also change the fonts of the Event Printer.

8.30 Close Alarm List

To close the dialog window Alarm List, click the close button in the dialog window’s title bar. The Alarm List is closed.

Notice: Closing of the Alarm List is allowed only if it is in the free area.

9 Operate Playback

EBI Screen Playback is for displaying the recorded information, ie. object states, events & alarms windows; exclusive of some user events like window opening and closing, mouse and keyboard events and operational timetable editing.

Operator commands and their responses are also logged. But acoustic alarms are not available during playback.

Only at the Offline Playback workstation in OCC, the authorized operator can activate the EBI Screen Playback subsystem.

9.1 Start Playback Session

To start a playback session, follows these steps.

• Stop all running EBIScreen tools and processes like UIC, SYSMAN,.. etc. Shutdown the EBIScreen service WDS Service and UISR Service.

• Copy the playback files from the runtime system to the Offline Playback workstation playback server:

1. Copy the contents of events1 directory.

2. Copy the contents of vslog directory.

3. Copy the backup-copy of the runtime database (Solid.db) to server data directory. (backup directory)

To copy the above data from share directory of each server.

The EBI Screen database used during the playback shall contain all the objects that were stored in the runtime database when the playback history was recorded. Also the picture and symbol files must be the same.

• Make a start-up of the Offline Playback workstation by starting UISR and WDS services.

• Start EBI Screen UIC.

• Open the playback dialog from the UIC menu System.

9.2 Run Playback

From UIC’s main menu System � Playback, the playback dialog is appear which shows the available checkpoints for the playback.

Each checkpoint is identified by a time stamp. Checkpoints are created once per hour.

To run playback, follows these steps.

• Select Checkpoint by mouse.

• Select playback speed from the combo box Speed.

• Select Step size (either Small or Large)

1. Always use Step Size Small unless playback computer is very low performance.

2. For low performance computer, or unusual high number of events per second, select Step Size Large.

• Tick-on the check box Site menu override.

When the checkpoint of playback is selected, every opened new window (pictures, alarms, etc.) will show the historical system state in the selected time point.

Therefore if user changes the checkpoint, i.e. clicks a new entry in the list, all objects in these playback windows are updated to state in which they were when the newly selected checkpoint was created.

NOTE: No runtime data will be displayed in the Offline Playback workstation.

Open picture windows from the UIC’s main menu Site � Line.

Click the button Run At any time picture, alarms and events windows can be opened for watching the playback state. Playback can either be stopped or running when pictures are opened or closed.

9.3 Pause Playback

Playback can be paused at any time to inspect the system state by left-click on the Pause button, which is available when the playback is running.

After an operator clicked on the playback is now paused.

An operator then clicked on to resume, the playback is again running.

When playback is paused, user can change speed or select a new checkpoint to start another playback. If user selects the already selected checkpoint, the playback is rewind to its checkpoint and playback continues from the beginning.

9.4 Change Playback Speed

The default speed is 1x. The fraction factors slow down the playback speed and the integer factors speeds up the playback speed.

9.5 Playback Timebox

The simulated system time from a checkpoint of the selected checkpoint is displayed at the upper timebox. While the lower timebox shows the used playback time since it is started.

9.6 Select Playback Picture window

Make sure that the check box Site menu override is ticked-on, otherwise the picture windows opened are not updated by playback state.

The picture window can be selected from the UIC’s main menu Overviews or Site � Line.

9.7 Stop Playback Session

To stop a playback session, left-click on the Close button at the top right corner of playback dialog.

10 Train Describer

The train describer system (TDS) provides a user interface of an active train identity (Train Id) associated to a track section or a train queue to identify all trains in the system area and maintain position information of these trains according to train movements in infrastructure. It assists the operator in keeping track of all trains by moving the descriptions follows the trains move, track section by track section.

10.1 Train Id Definition

The train id displayed by train describer is based on the movement situation and area. The definition of train id in Delhi Metro L5&6 project is as following;

Train Situation Train Identity Range

In service in main line Destination Id + Service Id 1000 – 8999

Out of service (whether in main line or depot area)

Rake Id (Vehicle number) 0000 – 0999

Undetermined Sequence Id 9000 – 9999

In case of a service train, the Train Id is a combination of its destination and service. The Service Id is uniquely constant during the operation, running in sequence by the order of train injection from depot. While the Destination Id is changed every trip ends, according to the journey plan in Timetable.

When a train arrives at transit track, Train Id will be assigned automatically by the system according to the predefined schedule by FIFO basis. At the end of each trip, the ATS system will automatically change the timetable allocation to the next scheduled trip.

When a train terminates its service, the Train Id is used of its Rake Id (Verhicle number), which is uniquely assigned for a set of vehicle.

10.3.3 Vehicle Page

It contains an editor for single vehicle information, and vehicle combination editor for composing the describer.

Available Vehicles box displays all vehicles defined in system except the vehicles that are listed in Vehicles in Describer box.

Vehicles in Describer box displays all vehicles associated with the selected describer.

From this page, an operator can add / remove the vehicle number to the selected describer. If operator makes some change and closes the dialog or changes the page without clicking the Save button, a confirmation for saving the data is asked.

10.4.1 List

This command is only available from UIC’s main menu. When operator selects List command, the Describer List dialog is appeared, which dynamically updated list of all active train id.

The operator can also access the TDS commands by clicking a row with the right mouse button. See chapter 10.2.3 TDS Commands from Train Describer.

The information can be sorted by double-clicking the title of a column header to sort according to that column. Double-click again to sort in reverse order.

To reduce the number of columns displayed, the columns can be organized into groups. Select the group from the drop-down list in the top left corner of the dialog.

Besides column values, the information can also be filtered according to authority. Only trains in operator’s authority area are included by default. To change the default, press the button ‘Authority Areas’ and check mark the desired authority areas. The default setting of authority areas can be restored by clicking the button ‘Default’.

10.4.2 Queue Editor

This dialog allows train describer queue editing. Queue is selected from combo box at the top (or it might contain selection already if activated from detail view). The list box contains describer names.

Enable Association check box is for stop/start assigning of train id to the train describer queue.

Mark ‘Enable Association’ check box as ticked, to start assigning (enabled) and not ticked, to stop assigning (disabled). The change will be in effect immediately and be in effect until ticked again or the whole system is restarted (in which case the queue is enabled by default).

If Enable Association check box is ticked and unidentified train occupies the track, the first train id in the queue is assigned from the queue to the track and the train queue is decreased. However, there can also be empty positions in the queue. If empty position is the first one the passing unidentified train does not get a train id and the empty position is removed from the queue.

Queue manipulation is done by right-clicking in the list box and selecting an item from the following popup menu:

With the ‘Move Up’ and ‘Move Down’ commands the position of the train describer in the queue can be changed, the effect is same as using the arrow buttons in the left side of the dialog.

10.4.3 Set

Set command is for allocating the train, on the selected track, to timetable by selecting train run and journey.

The Train Run: box contains train runs defined in today’s operational timetable which are currently not allocated.

The journey details of the selected train run are fetched into the drop-down box on the right of Journey button. Unless the operator manually selects direction by clicking the radio button, the journey listed in drop-down box are only for that direction. Otherwise, the Direction radio button is updated according to the direction of the journey selected.

By default, the journey display in the drop-down box is the best matching journey automatically selected by system. However, an operator is allowed to manually select a journey from the list.

Also be aware that the train id to be set must be inactive, that is it should not be associated to any other track section or train describer queue. Use the Search or List command to find the information related to the describer.

10.4.4 Replace

This command is for assigning a new train id to the train describer.

The Current Describer box display the current train id assign for the selected track. In case there are multiple train ids, the drop-down list contains them all.

The New Train Run box contains all train runs defined in today’s operational timetable which are currently not allocated.

The journey details are fetched into the drop-down list according to the selected train run and direction (if pre-selected)

If operator wants that details will be copied from Current Describer, just click Replace. The ‘Copy details from current describer’ is checked by default.

Otherwise, to specify new details, click Vehicle tab to update the vehicle information. Then click Front Page tab, click ‘Copy details from current describer’ to remove the check mark and click Replace.

10.4.5 Remove

To remove the selected train id from the train describer which lie on the selected track. The associated train details are removed. The sequence describers are created to the occupied track sections unless the track contained several train ids prior to command execution.

NOTE: In case a selected track contains multiple train ids, they are all inserted to the Train Describer box, with the first one (most opposite) selected.

10.4.6 Move

The train describer is removed from all track sections it previously existed, and is set to the target track section. If there exists a train describer in the target track section, all occurrences of that train describer are replaced with the moved train describer.

‘Move’ button is disabled until a selection is made for both ‘Train Describer’ and ‘To Track Section’ combo boxes. Clicking it performs the operation and closes the dialog. Clicking ‘Close’ just closes the dialog.

‘To Track Section’ combo box contains only track sections inside operator’s authority area. If target track section is not occupied, ‘Replace Describer’ combo box is disabled and empty.

If selected track section already contains describer(s), ‘Replace Describer’ combo box is enabled and contains the describers currently occupying the track section, with the first one in list selected. Select a target train describer that will be replaced by the moved train, also specify if you want that the details are taken from the target describer. Enter direction if necessary. Click Move.

‘Use details from target describer’ is enabled when ‘Replace Describer’ combo box contains a selection, and is unchecked by default meaning that details are moved with the source describer.

10.4.7 Change Timetable

With this dialog train describer’s allocation to timetable can be changed to another journey within the current train run. However, it is only possible to allocate the train to another journey within the currently allocated train run.

‘Change’ button is disabled until a selection is made from the Train Describer combo box. Clicking it performs the operation and closes the dialog. The current describer is allocated to another journey within the the current train run, or replaced with another train describer.

Clicking ‘Close’ just closes the dialog.

10.4.8 Exchange

The exchange command is to swap the train id between the two selected describers.

Enter the second train describer. Specify whether the train details will also be exchanged or not. Click Exchange.

10.4.9 Join

To join the two trains; describers as well as vehicles which is associated with the both sourced trains.

The describers shall be adjacent, either on same track or on neighbour tracks. Enter the joined train describer (can be either of the source train describers). Select direction for the joined train describer, if necessary. Click Join.

There shall be an error message warning, when try to join two trains which are not adjacent.

10.4.10 Split

To split the train describer to two. The vehicles are divided from the specified split point.

The ‘Vehicles’ list box contains vehicles associated with currently selected describer. Operator can select one vehicle from the list, and that vehicle is the first one associated with ‘Describer 1’.

The disabled ‘Describer’ combo box at the top of the dialog shows the describer that is affected by splitting. The ‘Vehicles’ list box contains vehicles associated with currently selected describer. Operator can select one vehicle from the list, and that vehicle is the one associated with the new assigned describer.

The ‘Driver Number’ combo boxes contain driver number assigned with the selected describer but allows also free text entry for numbers between 0..999. Entering driver number is optional.

‘Train Run’ combo box in ‘Timetable 1’ and ‘Timetable 2’ groups contain currently ‘not allocated’ train runs defined in today’s operational timetable (exception: train run allocated to Current Describer combo box is included in the list).

‘Split’ button is enabled when a selection is made for all combo boxes. Clicking it performs the operation and closes the dialog. Clicking ‘Close’ just closes the dialog.

NOTE: When train was successfully splitted, the train id will be flashing which indicates override train (multiple describers).

10.4.11 Change Direction

To associate the train id with the new direction and the propagation of the train is altered correspondingly.

NOTE: Instead of changing train describers direction using this dialog, it is recommended to allocate the train to a journey having the preferred direction using Change Timetable command (see chapter 10.4.7 Change Timetable).

10.4.12 Detail Editor

To edit the train consist (vehicle number and driver number) associated with the train id. The consist will be connected to the train describer until an active train describer is removed.

If dialog was opened from main menu, ‘Describer’ combo box contains all train describers in ascending order with first one selected. However, if dialog was opened from detail view and from track section containing only one describer, that one is the only one in ‘Describer’ combo box.

In case of some failure TDS ignores occupation state changes for a faulty marked track section. Propagation of train describer is allowed over faulty marked track.

Same as a single object command, right-click a track object in detail view, and select FaultyMark from drop-down menu.

10.5.2 Automatic Routing (RA)

Automatic routing for the selected train is enabled or disabled according to the operator’s actions.

The automatic routing can be enabled/disabled for a specific train by command available in describer list, track or train queue:

On List dialog, click a describer object with right mouse button. The TDS popup menu appears:

11 Timetable Editor

The Timetable Editor is an online user interface tool of timetable management system, for editing operational timetables which making it possible to react rapidly to the current operational situation.

By using the Timetable Editor (TTE) tool, an operator is able to:

• Ceate a new scheduled train run for a new train that is not present in the timetable.

• Delete from the timetable a specific scheduled train run.

• Create a new programme for a scheduled train run that is already in the line. For example: To add or to cancel journeys for a scheduled train run.

• Change the estimated arrival or departure time for a train in a station.

• Modify the definitions of running times or of routing actions for a determined scheduled train run.

• Modify the definitions of running times or of routing actions for a specific running section. The system will modify automatically all the scheduled train runs that contain the above mentioned running section and will re-calculate the new times for them.

• View the changes in the operational timetable logged in the log of changes of the TTE.

The Timetable menu is available for an authorized operator, who has a “Timetable Online Manager” role, which provides access to dialog windows of Timetable Editor.

11.1 Main View

The Main View of the Timetable Editor groups together all the information needed in viewing and editing Operational Timetable.

The window consists of selection area (left side of the window) and selected item editing/viewing area (right side of the window).

The user interface Timetable Editor provides to operational timetable is similar as Timetable Builder gives to Static Timetable.

From user’s point of view, the only difference is that in Timetable Builder there can be several separate views open at the same time, whereas in Timetable Editor the Editing/Viewing Area is capable of showing only one view at time.

However, an operator can have several Timetable Editor Main Views open at the same time. Each opened Main View has one toolbar button associated to it for fast access. The name of the button reflects currently selected item:

11.2 Traffic Day Selection

The operational timetable is loaded for 3 days. An operator can only operate with one traffic day at a time, which can be selected manually.

By default, the traffic day buttons are coloured as follows:

• Today: default background colour

• Tomorrow: Light yellow

• The day after tomorrow: Light blue

The same colour is also used as background colour in tables shown in Editing/Viewing Area. The purpose of this is to minimize possibility of making changes to wrong traffic day.

11.3 Selection Area

The Selection Area is presented as a hierarchy view, and it contains four main branches: Active Trains, Train Runs, Stations and Templates.

Furthermore, each Train Run branch has journeys as sub-branches. Each Journey branch contains following information: train describer (that will be seen on track displays when a train is allocated to this journey), and start time of the journey.

You can double-click a row to activate Journey View of the selected journey.

11.5.1 Journey View

When selecting a single journey, a Journey View is shown in the Editing/Viewing Area which there are 2 tabs available; Schedule, and Actions.

The Journey View’s Schedule tab contains a detailed list of arrival and departure events on that journey. It allows an operator to control the passenger information system by manually adjusting estimated times and platforms (in read-write mode only).

When managing the Operational Timetable via Templates, the information is related only to traffic day selected. That is, if for example the second traffic day button is pressed down (meaning “Tomorrow”) and you make any changes to Templates, the changes do not have any effect to “Today’s” Templates or Train Runs, or to the Static Timetable.

Normally there is no need to create new standard time plans / standard action plans, just minor changes to existing ones.

However, remember that also a minor change in any of standard will impact Train Runs; recalculation of timetables linked to that time plan / redefinition of automatic routing linked to that action plan.

By editing the templates an operator can create new trains runs, remove existing train runs or affect to timetable properties of a group of trains by a single command.

For example, if modify a dwell time spent at station by editing a Standard Time Plan, the change affects to timetables of all train runs linked to that Standard Time Plan.

An operator can create a new template by clicking corresponding branch with right mouse button, and by selecting ‘New’ from the menu that pops up. This will open corresponding template editor for him.

The time plan consists of default time plan and time period specific time plans. Click tab header to activate corresponding time plan.

If the system does not have any time periods, only ‘Default’-tab page is available.

NOTE: The small figure above is taken from system having time period specific time plans, whereas the figure representing full view is taken from system not having time period specific time plans.

When generating the operational timetable, the system (TTS) selects best matching time plan from the whole set of time period specific time plans. Example: there are time periods Default, 07:00-09:00 and 15:00-19:00. The system has calculated departure time of 06:59. The run time to next station, e.g. 2 minutes, is read from the Default time plan. The arrival time calculated is 07:01. Next, the dwell time spent is read from time plan specific to time period 07:00-09:00, etc. When the time reaches e.g. 09:01, the system starts using Default time plan again.

Enter planned run times between stations and dwell times spent at station. After entering all run and dwell times, operator can switch between ‘Run/dwell’ time and ‘Arrival/departure time’ view. This way he can cross check the information he have entered.

On ‘Arrival/departure’ time view an operator can enter reference start time for this time plan, and the system displays absolute times instead of relative times starting from 00:00:00. When reference time is set, he can also edit the times in absolute time format.

Note! Remember that the reference start time is NOT saved to time plan; it is there just for your convenience. Internally, standard time plans are always saved as run and dwell times.

Specify platforms by clicking a cell in the ‘Platform’-column and select platform from the drop-down box. Click ‘Create’ –button. Operator may create as many standard time plans in this window as you like. Close the window by clicking the ‘Close’–button.

The meaning of the columns in the action plan is the following:

11.7.3 Planned Journey

By selecting Planned Journeys sub-branch under Templates branch in the selection area or double-clicking …, the planned journey editor appears in the Editing/Viewing Area.

With this tool you can easily make temporary modifications to timing or routing, by re-linking alternative plans into planned journey.

For example, there may be predefined plans for various scenarios, which are normally not in use, e.g. an alternative for a Standard Action Plan normally used. With the Planned Journey Editor you can re-link a planned journey to an alternative. This will change routing of all train runs linked to that planned journey.

By editing manually the Standard Action Plan manually will cause the same effect, but relinking enables use of predefined plans.

First, select a type of the plan you want to link to the planned train run by activating corresponding tab page. Select the standard plan from the ‘Link to standard plan’ –drop down box. It is only possible to select those standard plans that are created for the train profile, line and direction of the selected train.

You can override the information in linked standard plan by clicking the ‘Override’ –cross mark. The information in standard plan is copied to planned journey. This action is intended to those situations where the standard plan contains most of the correct information but some information must be modified. Overriding removes the link between the planned journey and standard plan and the modifications to standard plan do not affect the ‘original’ standard.

11.7.4 Planned Train Run

By selecting Planned Train Runs sub-branch under Templates branch in the selection area or double-clicking …, the planned train run editor appears in the Editing/Viewing Area.

Planned train runs are just used for easing construction of scheduled train runs. If operator change an existing planned train run, it will not have any effect to other parts of the system. However, next time Scheduled Train Run Editor is opened, the defined planned train run is display.

Probably there will not need Planned Train Run Editor in online system at all.

Planned Train Run Editor is very similar to Scheduled Train Run Editor.

11.7.5 Scheduled Train Run

By selecting Scheduled Train Runs sub-branch under Templates branch in the selection area or double-clicking on the schedule of Journey in the editing/viewing area, the scheduled train run editor appears in the editing/viewing Area.

If create a new scheduled train run, give name for it and select the train profile and running section. External name is optional; use of it depends on system configuration and external interfaces.

NOTE: When creating a new scheduled train run, the Timetable Server creates a corresponding new train run into the online system database.

After selected the train profile and/or line, click the ‘Copy from’–button to copy information from another scheduled train run. From the dialog that pops up select the source standard plan and click ‘Copy’ –button.

The list box on the left side of the dialog contains planned journeys defined for the selected train profile, and the list box on the right side contains planned journeys belonging to the scheduled train run under edit.

The target is to link a set of journeys into the train run, and define the order and start times of these journeys. This is explained in more detail in following chapters.

11.7.5.1 Insert Planned Journeys to Scheduled Train Run

Insert planned journey to the planned train run by clicking planned journey name in the list box on left and click ‘Insert’–button.

12 Timetable Copier (TTC)

The TTC is used to copy timetables from one database to another. The timetables can be developed and tested in a test system (Timetable Offline workstation) and copied into the on-line system without a break in system operation after the new timetable has been verified.

To copy the new timetable to online system please done as following steps:

• Check which CTC server is online (Server1 or Server2) and go to directory D:\EBIScreen3_5\Registry\

- For Line 5, apply the registry "Target_CTC-L5-S1.reg" if CTC-L5-S1 is Online, or apply the registry "Target_CTC-L5-S2.reg" if CTC-L5-S2 is Online.

- For Line 6, apply the registry "Target_CTC-L6-S1.reg" if CTC-L6-S1 is Online, or apply the registry "Target_CTC-L6-S2.reg" if CTC-L6-S2 is Online.

• Start EBIScreen service UISR Service and WDS Service at Timetable Offline workstation, open SYSMAN.exe from directory D:\EBIScreen3_5\Tools\ and wait until Timetable Offline server status is Online.

• Run TTC.exe from directory D:\EBIScreen3_5\Tools\ to copy new timetable into online database.

• If source timetable is valid then the “Read target data” button will be active, select this button and select target periodic schedule (e.g. Temp_TTC).

• If target timetable is valid then the “Write target data” button will be active, select this button to copy the periodic schedule.

• Select “Close” button after completed.

• From Timetable Online workstation (which is connected to CTC-Online server DB), Open TTB from UIC menu and modify name as well as the validity period of new timetable (Create blank timetable for next copy as Temp_TTC).

• Reload new timetable to be affected by tomorrow or today or the day after tomorrow from UIC menu of operator workstation to be the operational timetable.

13 Menu of automaton system

The automatons menu should be available for system administrator. Commands of this menu provide access to dialog windows of automaton system.

13.1 Administer Automatons

The operator uses Administer view for automaton administering operations, such as automaton creation, modification and deleting. To open Administer view, select the Automaton menu button selected Automatons → Administer

Automaton list shows all automatons defined in the system. Column ‘Name’ indicates automaton’s name, column ‘Status’ indicates automaton’s current status (inactive, active, running) and column ‘Source’ shows name of automaton’s script file. Automaton’s script files are kept in directory “D:\EBIScreen3_5\AutomatonSourceRepository\” and “D:\EBIScreen3_5\ServerData\AutomatonScripts\”

Automaton’s name is preceded by symbol, which also indicates status of the automaton. The symbol has the following meaning:

• Grey rectangle Automaton is inactive

• Green triangle Automaton is active

• Green rectangle Automaton is running

Button 'New' opens Automaton Editor Dialog for defining new automatons.

Button 'Modify' (as well as left double click at list item) opens Automaton Editor Dialog for selected automaton for viewing and modifying automaton's definitions. The operation is available only for automatons having status ‘Inactive’.

Button 'Delete' deletes current automaton after user’s confirmation. The operation is available only for automatons having status ‘Inactive’.

Button ‘Print’ prints source script of selected automaton. Target printer can be selected in standard Windows Print dialog, which opens.

Button ‘Save’ stores source script of selected automaton into disk file. Name of the file can be given in standard Windows File Open dialog, which opens.

Button ‘Close’ closes the view.

13.1.1 Automaton Editor dialog

The Automaton Editor is a modal dialog, the operator opens from Administer view to view, enter or alter automaton definition, select the automaton and Modify.

Button ‘Update’ validates entered values, stores automaton definition and closed the window.

Button ‘Cancel’ closed the window without changes made.

Field ‘Name’: Name of the automaton. Each automaton must have unique name.

Field ‘Description’: Any text which describes the automaton (Not mandatory)

Field Automaton script file name’: Specifies file of automaton’s script.

Group ‘Authority area and privileges’: Specifies automaton’s authority areas where the automaton can be activated and privileges it has.

- Value ‘By operator’ means that the areas and the privileges will be inherited by the automaton from the operator it activated.

- Value ‘Fixed’ means that the automaton has fixed areas and privileges, which can be selected from the lists opened by the buttons next to fields ‘Area’ and ‘Privileges’.

Group ‘Triggering’: Defines triggering condition of the automaton.

- Value ‘No triggering’ means that the automaton will be not run automatically by system.

- Value ‘Absolute time’ defines Absolute time trigger, i.e. the automaton will be run automatically by system at indicated date and time.

- Value ‘Periodic’ defines Periodic trigger, i.e. the automaton will be run automatically by system at indicated in field ‘Start at’ date and time, and then in each period of time indicated by field group ‘Period’. The period is expressed in days, hours, minutes and second, which can be entered in corresponding fields. Each of them can be left empty, which means zero, but the whole period can not be empty.

- Value ‘State change of element’ defines Object trigger, i.e. the automaton will be run automatically by system every time state of indicated object changes. The object indicated by greyed field below button ‘Set’. To change it the operator enters object’s id or name in the field ‘Element ID/Name’ and presses button ‘Set’. The name is case sensitive.

13.2 Trace Automatons

The operator uses Trace view to observe automaton trace messages. The message list shows message’s date/time, name of the automaton issued it, and it’s actual text. To open Trace view, select the Automaton menu button selected Automatons → Trace

Amount of the message the list keeps is limited. The limit is specified by system configuration. After message limit is reached each new message causes the oldest message be deleted.

Control ‘Show messages automaton’ list all automatons, which are relevant to current operator. The operator can select one to see messages issued by this automaton only.

The operator uses Activation view to observe and change statuses of the automatons.

Button ‘Activate’. Activates selected automaton, i.e. bring it into state Active. Enabled only for inactive automatons.

Button ‘Deactivate’. Deactivates selected automaton, i.e. bring it into state Inactive. Enabled only for active automatons.

Button ‘Terminate’. Terminates run of selected automaton, i.e. bring automaton into state Inactive. Enabled only for running automatons.

Buttons ‘All’. Performs the corresponding action for all automatons in the list after user’s confirmation. Only automatons of appropriate state are affected.

Button ‘Close’. Closes the view.

Group ‘Show’. Defines filter for automaton list shown. Only the automatons of selected states are shown. The automaton will be removed from the list if it’s state changed and is not selected to be shown.

14 Automatic Route Setting

EBI Screen provides the automatic route setting to reduce the routine operations of an operator. In central control level (CATS), the ARS is taken care by EBI Screen RA which automatically set route according to predefined traffic information (timetable) and actual train movement.

While in local control level (LATS, IL VDU) it is taken care by the ART which automatically set route in normal traffic operation through the CBI area.

The operation of ARS has 2 modes as following;

Route setting is an operator action only. (Disabled)

An operator in OCC can control the operation mode of RA at several different levels; entire line, CBI area, individual trains, individual tracks.

Password length must be at least 4 characters pops-up? The new password was too short. Repeat change password procedure with a longer password.

New password and retyped password do not match pops-up? There is typing error in the password entries. Repeat change password procedure with correct passwords.

15.2 Remove Existing Operator

Selected an operator from the listbox Operators then the “Delete” button becomes active to allow deletion of that operator account.

There is a pop-up window to confirm deletion of desired operator.

15.3 Change Password

To change the operator password, select an operator from the listbox Operators then click Edit button. The window Create New Operator Account is opened with the Operator Name disabled (grayed):

Edit Password (and retype the password) and then press the button Save. After the successful entries, the window is closed. To cancel the operation, click the button Cancel.

15.4 Modify Roles

A role defines the operator’s access rights to commands and menus. To modify roles for a specific operator, click the button Modify Roles in the tab sheet Profiles. The window Modify Roles For Operator is opened:

Train Graph Client provides a facility for automatic online graphical train movement scheme which based on the timetable data and the actual train movement.

An authorized operator can access Train Graph Client from the UIC main menu.

16.1 General Commands

16.1.1 Open Existing Train Graph View

From TGC menu, there is a list of available train graphs. Select the graph you want to open. The selected graph will open.

16.1.2 Printing Train Graph

Select the to-be-printed train graph, then choose Print... option in the TGC menu to print train graphs. All, what is seen currently on the Graph, is found in the printout, too.

16.1.3 Setting Graph Orientation

The train graph can be displayed in two ways: Horizontal and Vertical Time Axis. Click Toggle time axis in the TGC menu to change the graph orientation, it will be switching between Horizontal and Vertical each time.

Arrivals and departures can be displayed on the graph. The details of the info display are minute:second / station platform.

16.2 TGC View Window Functions

Some functions of the TGC system can be invoked directly by clicking the TGC window.

16.2.1 Adjusting Time Resolution - Time Scroll

The resolution of the time axis can be adjusted with the time scrollbar in the timeline.

Move the mouse pointer on the center of the scroll bar. The pointer is changed to a twohead arrow pointer. The center point of the display can be adjusted by pressing the left mouse button in the middle of the scrollbar, and dragging the scrollbar.

Move the mouse pointer on the upper or lower bound. The pointer is changed to a thin two-head arrow pointer. Upper and lower bounds of the timeline can be adjusted by dragging the edges of the scrollbar.

16.2.2 Adjusting Displayed Track Area - Track Scroll

The resolution of track axis can be adjusted with scrollbars displayed on the trackline. Adjustment is similar to time resolution.

16.2.3 Displaying Train Information

By moving mouse pointer on top of a Train ID, it will display train specific ToolTip. This ToolTip includes Train ID, Service ID and deviation from schedule. In case there is a note for this train, it will also included in ToolTip.

By clicking a Train ID in the train graph, Train Information dialog is displayed. In this dialog, information such as direction of the train is displayed.

With the dialog, Operator can set a note that will be specific to the particular train. The note is available for later retrieval and editing.

NOTE: ToolTip shows the information, which was assigned to train when it last moved. In case of the turnback position, TID change to new trip but the journey id and note will remain for previous train. After it moves, the information in ToolTip is updated.

16.2.4 Time-Track Positioning

Move the mouse pointer on any place on the graph and leave mouse unmoved (Don't press any button). A ToolTip message appears for about 5 seconds displaying time and distance co-ordinates.

16.2.5 Graph Note Editor

In any place on the graph, a note can be attached. The note consists of the Bookmark part, which is seen constantly on the graph, and the Note part, which appears only when the mouse pointer is moved on the Bookmark text.

With the mouse pointer, select the position for the note on the graph and then press the right mouse button. A button "New note …" appears on the graph. Press the button in order to open the dialog Note Editor.

The Bookmark on the top of the Note Editor is the text, which is constantly displayed on the graph.

Display time "Note expires XX hours after the time at the note position" is in effect according to the selected hours. After XX hours the note expires and automatically removed from graph area. The maximum time in the list can be defined in the registry.

Finally, if the note is acceptable, press the button OK. If not, press Cancel.

A graph note is a generic annotation, which is seen in any graph and client, if the Bookmark location on the concurrent graphs happens to be common.

The Graph Note can also be removed manually and immediately by the mouse pointer.

Select the Bookmark on the graph and then press the right mouse button. A button "Delete …" appears on the graph. Press the button in order to open the Confirmation message box. Press Yes, if you are sure.

16.3 Administration Commands

The administration commands are allowed an authorized operator to configure the train graph.

16.3.1 Common Settings

Common Train Graph settings can be set by choosing the Common Settings option in TGC menu. The following dialog will open:

6) Train Movement

There are 3 types of train movement plotting;

• Planned movement is plotting according to the schedule in timetable.

• Estimated movement is plotting by the system estimated time base on timetable plan.

• Actual movement is plotting according to the train movement in system.

NOTE: For Delhi Metro L5&6, only Train category 1 is in used. Train category is tailored for specific requirement in another project.

16.3.2.1 Define Train Graph Path

Each of train graph must be defined its path (the part of track to display in train graph). The selective list is reading from predefined in timetable.

Once the train graph have been created, its path is no longer allow to edit.

16.3.2.2 Station Visibility

To defines at which zoom level on a graph a station of certain priority starts to be visible. In Delhi Metro L5&6 project, every station is set to default priority at 0 which is always visible for all zoom level.

The Deviation threshold is defined the minimum delay to be display in ToolTip (see chapter 16.2.3).

17 What if… i.e. Trouble Shooting

Below are listed the error messages, which may pop-up in several occasions due to an incorrect operation or state:

All visible alarms could not be acknowledged due to insufficient authority rights pops-up? (acknowledge alarms) The error message There was nothing to acknowledge. (Perhaps due to insufficient authority rights) pops-up?

Connection to valid DB requires UIC shutdown? Connection to the new database can’t be made without the shutdown. Click the button OK and the UIC will stop. Start the UIC again and connection to the valid database is established.

Create Socket Failed pops-up? The communication between server processes can’t be started. Push the button Reconnect and/or contact the System Administrator.

Could Not Open File pops-up? (function key setup) The function key definitions can’t be saved in to a file. Repeat function key setup.

Error Reading DB pops-up? Connection to the database can’t be created. Contact System Administrator.

Error reading database pops-up? (function key setup)The function key setup for operator can’t be read in database.

‘Error writing database’ appears? (change password) The password can’t be saved in the database. Repeat changing password procedure.

Error writing database pops-up? (function key setup) The function key definitions can’t be written in database. Repeat function key setup.

‘Invalid password’ appears? (change password) The old password was not correct. Repeat changing password procedure with the correct old password. If the password is forgotten, a new password and the operator profile will have to be recreated, thus losing all preference. Contact System Administrator.

New password and retyped password do not match pops-up? There is typing error in the password entries. Repeat change password procedure with correct passwords.

‘Password length must be at least 4 characters’ appears? (change password) The new password was too short. Repeat changing password procedure with a longer password.

Server xxx not found, connection failed pops-up? / Protocol xxx not supported pops-up? xxx denotes DB server name. Connection the DB can’t be established. Check that the DB is running and try once again.

The traffic lights of server show blinking red and the button under the traffic lights shows Reconnect? The server is in No contact mode. Click the button Reconnect and wait for the yellow or green light. If the red light continues blinking, contact the System Administrator.

The traffic lights of server show red? The server is in Off-line mode. Wait for a while, if the red light doesn’t change to green or yellow, contact the System Administrator.

The traffic lights of server show yellow? The server is in Standby mode. Visible in double server mode. No actions.

Text in the response field shows Command Not Allowed !!? (controlling process with commands) Not enough privileges to give command, or no authority. Change you role and/or authority areas.
