Induction Program Overview 2014 – 2015

The Colorado Department of Education requires educators with an initial license to complete astate approved induction program.

o An initial license is valid for three years and may be renewed if the educator has notcompleted an approved induction program through a Colorado school district or BOCES.

o The Greeley-Evans District 6 induction program is one year in duration. The induction program at Greeley-Evans District 6 has been designed to help you

be successful in your first year in the profession and move you from an initiallicense to a professional license.

o District 6 has differentiated induction plans depending upon your job role: K-12 teachers, early childhood educators, Exceptional Student Services (ESS) itinerants and specialists, counselors, nurses, and principals.

All induction programs include training and support; however, the training andsupport provided match specific job-role needs.

Professional development is focused on the needs of your area of teaching or jobrole. Some professional development is delivered at the district level and some atthe building level.

coaching cycles required by the School Improvement Plan. Coaching cycles are not required for nurses, counselors and High

School teachers. Professional Development Log

Keep a log of all professional development activities.o This log does not have a set number of required hours, but must reflect on-

going professional development (data/team meetings, building professionaldevelopment, district professional development, approved out of districtprofessional development/conferences, etc.) throughout the inductionexperience.

Mentor Logo Mentors are responsible for completing and logging 20 hours with their mentor team

throughout the year. Induction Meeting
